Why bother having children if you are going to have someone else care for them?

Maybe because some of us like to maintain some level of adult interaction in our lives, with spouses and adult friends. Dealing with children 24/7 for too long turns your mind to mush.

Ouch! Some folks are getting mean! There's nothing wrong with leaving your baby or child with a sitter to get a night out whether at home or on vacation! I didn't personally feel comfortable doing that (at a hotel) with my child when he was younger but wouldn't think twice about leaving him at the kid's club at the hotel now that he is 5 and going out for a few hours. I'm also considering leaving him and my 1 yr old with a sitter while at the hotel so we can go out without them for one night. The chances of anything going wrong are so slim to make it silly to worry about them - you're no doubt in more danger driving down there than leaving kids with a sitter. Yet, we do worry sometimes and if you're going to worry, you won't be happy! Perhaps you could hire the sitter and have them tag along with you? Not sure that would work however. Otherwise, don't worry about it! Believe me - they'll be older soon enough and you won't be so worried about leaving them!

I think Trinity has found her answer to the question she posted.Diversity is what make the world go round.We are entitled to our opinion on child rearing but this is NOT the debate board.No more personal attacks or I'll lock this thread.

Thanks to everyone who posted. As Baloo stated, yes I have found my answer to my question. We might swap with our friends who has a baby the same age, if we decide to get dinner on our own.

Yes, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and everyone has the right to raise their children as they see fit. I think criticizing others for the way they raise their children is just not fair. I agree, personal attacks are unnecessary.

Having been a babysitter once upon a time, I was always more than happy to watch other peoples' children so they could have time to get away for a while. I wouldn't say being with children 24/7 makes your mind turn into mush, but I do think it's nice to have some alone time with your spouse or significant other time to time. I really believe a happy marriage makes an overall happy family! IMHO.
