Worried about pop

HI! I too am spoiled by DVC we usually stay at OKW or SSR or BCV ! Which is also through my parents who own DVC! In which case like you we cannot always use it if they do! So the last time we went we stayed at ASMU for one night in the Jazz section liked that very much and I would say it was a lil quiter than POP Century but like other posters have said it is more couples and singles and older people fewer families. And we stayed at Pop one day at the end of our trip and we loved it so much we are going back this August and staying there our entire stay! We did pay for a preferred room though! Last we were there we were in the 90's section and I didn't feel it was a long walk but like I said I'm use to DVC others on here state it is long so it depends! I think you will be very happy with POp and the food court is bigger than the one at ASMu ! They at pop also have Frozen Slushies for you're refillable mugs for those HOT days! No Pop can not compare to DVC so don't even try to compare it! It's no contest but for a vacation on a budget which is what we are doing this trip it is awesome for the price! We are going because it is my dd's 8th grade Graduation present! And we are going in August because I don't want to pull her out of school since she will be in High School! And it is a graduation gift so you cannot wait to long! But we know it will be scorching when we go we went about 7yrs ago in august into sept it was horribly hot! But we love Disney and Florida! Just know that when everyone tells you it will be hot they are absolutely correct! My DS was 1 1/2 last time we went in August/Sept and he was miserable !!So what we did was stay at out hotel and swim in the day and got to the parks later in the afternoon! Though it wont be alot cooler but it will be somewhat cooler! Just go in open minded and you will be fine and remember never compare because it's impossible!

Honestly, the heat is not a big deal....try Laughlin, Nevada or Lake Havasu, Arizona in July - now THAT is hot....

I'll take 90 degree heat with 95% humidity over 130 dry heat ANY day!!

Ok, this may not be a solution for many - but perhaps it would work this one time for you.

How about off property - just off property? It's two lights down from Goodings.

I always default to Staybridge Suites because it was fabulous when I stayed there a couple of years ago.

For your dates - July 5 - 13 - $136 + tax p/night AAA discount

* 1 BR suite - Little bigger than a 1 BR Villa
* 2 rooms
* Bedroom with 1 king or 2 queens
* LR-dining- with table and chairs
* Full kitchen

* FULL - and I mean full hot and cold breakfast buffet - complimentary
* just across a small street from a Winn Dixie - easy walk
* FREE shuttle service to and from Disney Parks
* Landscaped grounds and very nice pool

This would give you TONS of room for your $$$....you will have a complete breakfast to begin your day....kitchen facilities to help your budget, no car needed.

Additional expense would be a Mears shuttle to and from the hotel.

I know, I know....it's not on property but it would be a very roomy oasis in the middle of a hot day to escape for you AND the children.

Just a thought.
That's a good idea too. If you're honestly that worried about a value you could always stay offsite. They might be less crowded than the onsite ones.

I wasn't thrilled about downgrading from the Poly to a value, but the more DS talks about Pop and how excited he is the more pumped I get for it too! Not to mention I like fantasize about that cheesecake :lmao: If you really don't think you will be able to tolerate staying at a value, there are people who rent houses out. I rented one last year and it was spacious, quiet, affordable, and we had a private pool with a hot tub also. Don't stay somewhere that's going to lessen the magic of your trip.

We will be traveling in June with a 4 yr old and 13 month. I think the room will be a bit cramped, we stayed at the pop a couple years back. I would also get quotes in a DTD area hotel, or Swan/Dolphin. Unless you want the meal plan than that wouldnt work.

I have stayed at every deluxe hotel with the exception of the AKL, YC and GF. I have also stayed at the Saratoga, all 3 All Stars and the POP. While I do miss some of the amenities of a deluxe I have just as good of a time at a value.

I think of all of the values the Pop is set up the best. Yes the food court will be busy but it's huge. I found the counter service at the Saratoga and some deluxes to be harder to navigate because they are so much smaller.

Also the grounds of the Saratoga are so much bigger than the Pop. Your walk to the food court could likely be shorter (especially if you get a preferred room). I never found the buses to be a problem. Only complaint I would have would be that the waiting line is not covered.

Lastly, I think when you see the Pop through the eyes of your 4 year old you will be truly happy with your choice. My son was 9 during our stay at the pop and he was crazy about the grounds!

Have a great trip!
