Are the World Showcase films worth seeing or not? It will be my husband, my son (4), my daughter (2), and me on the trip. We have never seen them before but we, honestly, have found World Showcase pretty boring in the past. So, are we missing something, here, or are they skippable? Or are certain ones skippable but not others?

The France film is far and away the best in my opinion, but opinions can vary greatly.

We see Canada every trip!! Funny and entertaining. We like spending time in all the pavilions, usually stop for the movies, nice break!

I like France and Canada. However, I do see them all whenever I'm there because I go infrequently and I like to immerse myself in a country.

Agreed! I actually like all of the films, but Canada is tops. American Adventure is a very close 2nd. If it's a nap you are needing, American Adventure is highly recommended! DH and DS18 always nap through it. It's dark, quiet, cool and lengthy, so it would be a good spot for your two little ones to rest if they are worn out. For me, it's too awesome to sleep through, but then again, I'm a softy for stuff like that.

I think the France,Canada and China films are must sees if you've never seen them before, the short Norway one is very skippable. The American Adventure feels more like a show but is also a must do,I don't do it as frequently as the other films since it is a bit more boring and pretty long but a must do at least once.

1. France (absolute perfection)
2. China (stunning vistas but the whole Communist repression thing is ignored, understandably)
3. Canada ( beautiful scenery but Martin Short works my last nerve and I don't really like looking at his mug)

We enjoy all the WS movies. France is nice because you get to sit down. :)

We enjoy China because its so "foreign" a land. So un-like what we are familiar with.

Canada, just because we chuckle at the opening sequence.

However, we usually skip the movie in Norway. Its nicely done but not repeatable.

I think we will definitely do American Adventure and maybe France since we can sit down. I am just not sure about China and Canada. I just looked up Youtube and just half-watched them with no sound. The China and France ones seem quite dated. Also, the picture quality really looks bad. Is that accurate or is that just a result of not being there in person?

I love all of them, except Norway's, which is rather old and outdated. However, I wouldn't plan on seeing all of them with 2 young children. If you think they can sit through them, my favorites are France, China, and Canada. I'd pick 2 and no more.

The American Adventure is not entirely a film, but is long, so just be careful with that. I think it's over 20 minutes.

They are good quality in person, though they may be a bit older than the other 2 films.

All are worth seeing at least once, with France top of the list. I mean, it's The World Showcase right!? They're about the only thing there "unsanitized" about each country. A bit of a grandiose, Chamber of Commerce, sales pitch -- absolutely. But, worth checking out. I wouldn't decide by the youtube captures since it doesn't give a good feel for the "surround" aspect (partial for France).

IMO they are all worth seeing at least once. But I'm not sure if young kids would enjoy them. In China and Canada you must stand. Norway film is very short. France and America are longer, and you get a great opportunity to sit and relax.

Just at note..as PP alluded to - Canada and China movies are 360-degrees (screens all around you in circle) and you must stand during the films and turn around to take in all the images.
This may be too much for your little ones as they may get tired of standing and if it's crowded may see more butts than movie if they don't constantly lok up. You and your husband may have to hold them during movie.

There are lean rails - which are too high for your children and it is not safe for you to sit them on the rails. If the theater isn't crowded your children may be able to sit on the floor.

Not that the movie's aren't worth seeing, but the standing may not be enjoyable for young children.

I watch them every couple of years, largely out of nostalgic purposes. I think they've been the same since my first visits in the 80s. I go now to remember the torment my parents but me through under the guise of culture. The adult me now realizes it was really about A/C. Looking forward to carrying on the family tradition ; )

And jsh1975 while food and drink is not allowed inside theaters, lots of pre drinking is encouraged ; )
