Hi I’m totally new in DVD and although we loved Disney Resorts we would also like to use the world passport collection to visit HAWAI and The west Coast (L.A. if possible).

Could anyone tell me any advice about making reservations for world passport collection resorts?

Can you make the reservation through DVD Website?

Any suggestion about any of the Hawaiian and Californian resorts?

Just in case you will need the info we are two adults with one 6 years old kid

Thanks

You put in a request by calling Member Services. Call at least a year ahead of when you'd like to travel, and give them several resorts you'd accept and several weeks of the year that would work for you. Then cross your fingers, since Hawaii is not an easy trade and you might not "score" (or you might score at the scary last minute). One thing you can do is include the Kona Coast (on the Big Island) among your requests. It's a nice resort and a decent value, although you have to walk across a golf course to get to the beach. It's so much more likely to score than the other resorts that if you put it on your list, that's probably what you'll wind up with. However, a number of us have stayed there and enjoyed the place -- and most people don't go to the Big Island for the beaches anyway.

Thanks man, I will follow your advice. As I’ve never been there any recommendations about what’s the best island to stay? How long would you recommend us to stay (maybe 1 week in one island and 1 week in another?). Is it too expensive over there?

Thanks again and Disney-regards

We have traveled to Hawaii several times, but only on a DVC exchange once. Which island is a personal preference thing, and everyone will have different likes and dislikes. Our first Hawaii trip, we changed islands 3 times in 2 weeks to get a flavor for all of them. Our favorites are the Big Island of Hawaii and Kauai with Maui close behind. My reccomendation for first timers is to spend a couple of days on Oahu and Waikiki to get acclimated and then spend at least 5 days on the other islands that interest you. Don't plan on less than 2 weeks in Hawaii, because it's hardly worth the trip for that.

Last time we went, we did a week's exchange from DVC on the Big Island of Hawaii, and another timeshare exchange on Kauai and spent a night on Oahu at the begining and 3 nights there at the end, so our trip was nearly 3 weeks long. Most will reccommend Maui, and while I agree it is a GREAT place, it is also harder to get an exchange to.

I believe if you'll do a search with my name and terms like Maui, Hawaii, Marriott, Westin, etc; you will find some helpful information.
