World of Color Superthread

Glad I subbed to this thread. Does anyone know which restaurant has a better view of WOC? TIA!

You don't watch it from the restaurant.

Yes but that doesn't mean you have to wait around that whole time. The CM I spoke with said you get your tickets after you eat then you can go do whatever you want to until you decide to line up for WoC.

Perfect.

On hold right now to reserve WCT for June 20th! I tried Vacation Planning first but they don't have any info so she transferred me to Disney Dining - hope I am in the right place!

Just made a reservation for WCT and got the scoop... CM said ALL of this is subject to change, including times, prices, etc. Right now WCT is taking reservations in time slots for two of the showings- 4-6:30pm and 6:30-8:30pm. Basically you eat your meal and when you leave they give you a ticket for WOC. The catch here is that they MAY RUN OUT OF TICKETS. There is no guarantee that you will get a ticket. They will take walk-ups for the WOC dining package at WCT also. If you do get a ticket, you will take it to a special area to turn it in. They don't know where it will be or whether it will have any seating.

Ariel's Grotto will be EXCLUSIVELY for WOC whereas WCT will not. There is still no guarantee that you will get a ticket at AG but chances are pretty good.

All reservations are on the honor system, there is no payment taken until you dine. They do ask that you cancel 48 hours ahead but there is no penalty.

The CM was very nice and emphasized that they are still getting info and have lots of unanswered questions. I took my chances and booked a WCT 5:00 seating, knowing I can always change/cancel it. We shall see!

OK..they better iron this out (quickly) I would be angry if I'd paid for the meal and everything and didn't get a FP ticket thing and then was told that they had no ticket for me..whoa...that would be a nightmare. :stir:

Don't think it matters since you won't be viewing from the restaurant. Like someone else said, it sounds like both restaurants will feed into the same reserved area.

Thanks - yes the CM I spoke with just explained the reason they asked if I preferred indoor or outdoor seating was not for WOC because we would likely leave to view the show after eating. I forgot some pp's had mentioned that the restaurants didn't really have great views to begin with. Hopefully these packages/reservations stick, but who knows with all the changes they've been making!

I was wondering how far in advance do I have to book for the WOC dinner reservations? I'm visiting for 9 days in Oct, and don't want to book the WOC dinner, until I've got my TOTP tickets bought. TIA

Just got off the phone with Disney Dining

Ariel's Grotto
Adults $36.99
Kids (3-9) $20.99

Wine Country Trattoria
Adults $39.99
Kids (3-9) TBA

I was told the same.

At WCT ~ it'll be a 3 course meal.

1 ~ A antipasto salad or a regular salad
2 ~ Choice of ~ fish of the day, chicken, seafood stew, some fancy name steak
3 ~ A dessert trio
*I don't know about a drink.

They don't have a kids menu yet...

I got slightly different menu information:

At WCT:
1) antipasto platter
2) starters salad
3) choice of:
- fish of the day
- herb-roasted chicken breast
- seafood pasta
- braised lamb shank
- NY strip loin
4) dessert trio
Includes a basic beverage.

At AG:
1) shared appetizer platter (2 choices available)
2) salad
3) choice of:
tri-tip
filet of red-fish
vegetarian dish
herb crusted chicken
pasta
cioppino
4) shared dessert platter (cake, cookie, cheesecake bites, tiramisu
Includes a basic beverage.

It was just confirmed on another board that standard AP discounts apply!!! Made a great deal even better!!!!!:dance3:

That sounds more like what I heard ~ I called from work and didn't pay too close attention! I remember the lamb shank being mentioned.

So how many days out are they accepting reservations?

It looks like standard 60 days in advance since it is booked through Disney Dining. But stay tuned to the boards because it could be subject to change!

The AG menu looks similar to their lunch menu, would I be accurate to attempt to assume the kids menu will be similar to what is offered for lunch? We ate lunch there last Feb and I loved the food. Kind of wish I had asked DH to book at WCT, oh well! Maybe we can try lunch there one day.

So maybe Disney Visa discounts ~ I got the $200 Gift card "pre approval/offer" in the mail, I completed the app online - but since I didn't get instantly approved I'm guessing it's a no from them??

We've had APs the last 2 years but not this year ~ we're visiting for the 4th of July and Thanksgiving weekends this year and the Premium or Deluxe *whichever has blockouts is blocked those weekends ~ and two 3 day PHs *actually our July PH is 5 days!* are less than the Prem or Del *whichever one doesn't have any blockouts. And I find that when we have an AP we visit a lot *that's not a bad thing but a $$ thing* ~ see my siggy for our visits last year!

So we are not doing the Dinnier package, there menues just do not look that appealing:confused3. So has there been any update on how there going to distribute the FP? and what time there going to give those out? and If there Is going to be a special line up area.

GRR FP distribution area... from opening to whenever it runs out. Line up for what?

Holy moly...I am gone for a couple of hours and come back to find 4 new pages to this thread  ...I knew something big had happened.

No updates but a little clarification today given by Albort on how WoC FPs will be randomly given out.

In summary it appears that:

1. DCA will start giving out WOC FPs in the morning at either 9:30AM or 10AM

2. They will be based on color coded viewing sections and will be semi-random

3. Only the first show at 9PM will have FPs.

4. The second show will be at 10:15PM and will be first-come first-served, except for those with the dining packages and possibly DVC or hotel concierge guests. A possible third show at 11:30 may occur also first-come first-served.

5. Viewing will be for 6000 people total. So take 6000 and subtract reserved dining or DVC/Concierge. Maybe 5000 left?

6. 5000 FPs given out for 8 FP machines at 1 FP per 10 seconds per machine will take 104 minutes by my calculation

7. We do not know where people will lineup for FP but presumably near GRR where they will be distributed.

8. We think people will line up for WOC in Sunshine Plaza for all shows.

:wizard:

Just made my reservation! :cool1:
5:20 pm at Ariel's on June 18. We arrive on June 17 and are doing F! dessert seating (my first time doing that).

I called Vacation Planning first and was told "we don't having dining packages for WOC" she didn't offer to transfer me to Disney Dining so I just asked for the number and called.
I was on hold for about 12 minutes before someone picked up. She said that I would be guaranteed tickets for a special seated viewing area. She said it would definitely be a better view than the standing area. And she said that they don't have the details of how it will work yet, so I would be given the details of where to go, what time, etc when I'm handed the tickets.

This is a huge relief to have that booked! Can't wait to see the show :yay:
