World of Color Superthread

Disney still hasn't made any significant announcements about World of Color, but we've learned that the nightly performances will be held at 9pm and 10:15 p.m., with the last show starting 15 minutes after Disney's California Adventure closes for the evening. We've also heard that Disney might offer a third encore show on some evenings, but we have no additional details about how these extra shows.

The above is from Mouseplanet's update this week.

They were testing it last night. Great view from PP 14th floor park view room

Saw the test last night from our balcony at VGC. Seems like it is going to be a nice show.

However I got rudely woken up at 7am this morning by VERY loud music. Sounded like the music for the World of Color but I was still in bed and wasn't about to get up and check. Though I did pick up the phone and complain about the volume level of the music so early in the morn. I asked them "What's up with the early morning wake up call?"

I live on the east coast so probably won't be a problem for me again with the rarity of how often I get here but I don't think I would come again until all the construction and testing are done.

"The recently green-lighted plan to cope with the problem has the 27 minute long World of Color now performing three times per night, seven nights per week, through at least the end of summer. The times that TDA is now working with have the first World of Color show at 9:00 p.m., with additional shows every 75 minutes at 10:15 p.m. and again at 11:30 p.m."

This is from AL Lutz

I pirated this from Michele who took it from Mr. Lutz. :goodvibes

Maybe you didn't notice but this Al Lutz link is from May 4. :) Since Al published this Disney has changed DCA closing in June from 10PM to 11PM then back to 10PM. Lately Al has been saying it will go back to 11PM once all is said and done.

I didn't. It was just given to me and I didn't read the date. Anyway the MP info is from this week.

From MiceAge today... http://miceage.micechat.com/

Editor's Note 5/27: After Steve Davison was given a list of suggestions by Bob Iger last month, Bob and a gaggle of senior Disney executives returned to Anaheim on Wednesday night to watch a final run-through of World of Color. Steve's "Lil Squirt" character didn't make the cut, and the problematic Chernabog tower was a no-show, but the classic 1961 introduction from Walt's original TV program did make it into the final show. The faster moving version of the show now clocks in at 26 minutes, and the executives left Anaheim late Wednesday mostly impressed and happy. All the last-minute creative input from Bob has nixed any ability to host formal AP or Cast Member previews, but the unofficial soft opening spigot might be turned on soon. - Al Lutz

no, its randomized section, but all fp machines will distribute the same at one time. You will see a red 3, then Blue 1 then yellow 2 etc...

I haven't had enough coffee because I still don't understand. :upsidedow

Yes thanks. I was looking at all that today, trying to figure out what I had already read and not then just skipped over here. I knew someone would sort out the good stuff.:thumbsup2

I *think* what Albort means is that the machines will distribute all the colors/sections in order at once...so the machines will distribute all of red-1 first before moving onto red-2, and then when all the red tickets are gone it will move onto the yellow sections, then blue, etc...but, correct me if I'm wrong there.

Yes...please explain further. So it sounds like you could receive a FP for the most desired seating section at any time during distribution. Is this correct?

WOC is making my brain hurt :headache:

I think it would be better if they distributed all the sections together and in order, starting with the best seats. That way people who got there first would get better seats - it might make for craziness first thing though! If it was random, you could be the first person lining up and get a crappy section.

I hate that it's all speculation though! I want to be able to plan!!!

Your last comment answered your first. :rotfl:

It's giving you a headache because you are attempting to understand something that has yet to be determined. Therefore, conflicting rumors and speculation create confusion (which leads to a headache when trying to plan). There is nothing "official" out that will help you plan yet, so my advice would be not to try. Just be flexible with your plans and Once the information becomes official, plan plan plan! :goodvibes

As for the "best sections first," I think that will create EXACTLY what Disney is trying to avoid. A ridiculously long (beyond our imaginations) line. If you can get amazing seats later, just as easily as earlier, this alleviates some crowd control headaches. JMO

no, thats not correct either. The FP machines will give out showpasses in zones together, but they randomization comes in which zone its giving out.

IE.
Opening
8:00AM - Give out Red 4 showpass ticket is handed out.
8:30AM - Red 4 showpass gone, randomize, Blue 2 showpass ticket is handed out.
9:00AM - Blue 2 showpass gone, randomize, Yellow 2 showpass ticket is handed out.

tomorrow, can also be a different story on which starts first and which is next. They do this to prevent people from waiting for a certain color and section.
