World of Color Dining Pkg or Dessert Party?

We've done both and definitely preferred the dessert party. It was so nice to be able to sit and enjoy the show after a long day in the parks! We plan to do the dessert party again during our trip this August.

We LOVED the dessert party. I thought the desserts were super tasty and the cheese and bread meant we shared a meal at PGG around 5pm and were completely stuffed by the time we finished the DP.

...
Dessert party:
Pro- seat at table so no standing, no mad rush, food, adorable light up cups for kids.
Con: Food isn't very good imo and high cost event. Location has unobstructed view but it's a bit removed

Dining package:
Pro- cost is lower, some great restaurant options for a very nice meal, if you plan it right, you can get a spot right on the rail
Con- standing room only, have to get there early to get a prime spot, if you don't get a spot on the rail, you may be disappointed.

We've done both and enjoyed both for the reasons above. If you're up to standing and getting there early (45-60 minutes before show), I'd study the map so you know the dining group area and where you want to be. The area is massive and having a handle on the scope/layout is very helpful. If you want zero stress and don't mind being a little removed and the high cost, dessert party was very nice.

Agree with this assessment. We've done and enjoyed both for different reasons. The Dessert Party was fun, and it certainly was nice to be able to sit throughout the show. But we like the immersive experience of being right up at the rail by the water, too. The wait is worth it for us to get waterfront viewing -- but, to be fair, we don't view WOC too often, so the wait doesn't take too much of a toll. Also, with no AP discount for the Dessert Party, it did make the WOC Dining Package (we like CCR) look like a better value. The Dining Package comes with a 3 course meal and beverage compared to a plate of desserts, grapes and cheese, and breadsticks. Overall, it comes down to our priorities. When having seated viewing really matters, then the Dessert Party is the only way to go. When we want a meal and a view of the water, then we choose CCR.

We've enjoyed the WOC dining a couple of times. I just booked the dessert party for 7/23. Main reason we decided to do it is because we're only doing a 2 day trip so want to make the most of our time. Its gonna be a surprise for DH and the kids. My mom who is also going with us is the one who convinced me to do it! It'll definitely be a one and done type of thing for us but I think it will work well this trip. DS6 has never seen WOC (he was sleeping the last time we went) and has been asking to see it. So this way he'll get a decent view without us having to arrive as early.

I have booked the WOC dessert package for July. Still worried about its value though! For Canadians the exchange rate is a real bummer

This Canadian found it to be a VERY good value personally. We really enjoyed our experience.

How is the view from the low tables in the center? I don't do bar height

We met a couple in line for the Dessert Party who said they always request a low table. They appeared to be average height and said neither one of them had trouble with the view. But they did say that if someone in the section in front of you puts their child on their shoulders, it can impede your view somewhat. In that case, they call over their server right away to see if something can be done.

Thank you. That makes me feel a lot better. Everyone suggests a high table but it won't work for me.

We sat at a low table in front because I did not trust my 6-year-old with a higher chair. You definitely have a partially obstructed view because the crowd cuts off the lower part of the performance, kind of like when a tall person sits in front of you in a movie theater. But it did not bother me, and probably there is still some obstruction with the higher seats.

I know this is an older post but I wanted to see how this worked out. It sounds like you are a party of at least 5 (we are a family of 5)...how did the seating work out? Were their tables for 5? Also, I see that kids get cool light up cups, I will have to little ones but also a 15 year old...I'm sure she will want a light up cup (honestly, I do too). Will they view her as a kid or adult. Also, do you keep the light up cups? Thanks!

You might want to check to see if the light up cups are still available. The last two times (January30 and February27) I've gone they haven't had them.

If they have the cups, you may keep them. Note, though - they are ENORMOUS.

We just did the dessert party with a party of 6. We were the first in line to be seated. They told us they had setup our table already, which was two tables close together. However, they placed us in the far left. I asked instead to be on the far right and they accommodated by moving a couple of tables together. (High tops). There were no light up cups.

I am 5'2" and just barely was able to get into the director's chair at the hightop table. We were second in line and could choose where we wanted to sit, so we could have moved if i was not satisfied. It had been raining and was chilly. We were prepared with sweatshirts and raingear. The food and hot chocolate were good. Unfortunately our show was cancelled before it began because of a technical malfunction. The price was refunded several days later. We didn't want to stay out late very many nights so we only saw Fantasmic in the parks. We found someone's recording of World of Color on YouTube.

We had a party of 9 and had to do the low table due to having toddlers. The drinks and food were really good. You definitely had some obstruction of the very bottom, as someone mentioned parents putting toddlers on shoulders etc.

It didn’t effect our enjoyment however, but if you have a party of adults bartop might be the way to go.

There was also a tall gentleman that put his 10-12 year old daughter on his shoulders. That was pretty annoying, he must have been asked by someone to take his daughter down because it was only a few minutes later and they were gone

This happened to us once during the DL Forever! fireworks on Main Street. As usual, it was packed, and just as the show started, a very tall man (well over 6' -- maybe 6'6") cut in front of our group and put his daughter (about 8 or 9) on his shoulders. Well, he effectively blocked out the whole castle, Tinkerbell, and most of the fireworks above the castle for us and most of the people behind us. The groans were audible. Luckily, a plaid was walking by and I was able to flag him down, point out the obvious problem, and enlist his help. He immediately approached the behemoth (!) and asked him to lower his daughter and move to the sidelines. At first the man resisted, but then he yielded and moved. People clapped to thank the CM. I realize that the 60th fireworks were great and mesmerizing, but how could that guy not know he was so tall and that putting an older child on his shoulders would block people's view?? And cutting into his spot at the last minute? Thank goodness for that plaid!

The tables are all the same size but they were able to put all 5 of us at the one table. It worked out fine. It was a little tight but we're family so no biggie. We all had a great view of the show. We were at the high tables in the back row. Not sure if they'll give the 15 year old a cup or not but you do get to keep the cup and bring it home. And like others have said, it is HUGE! But we still have both of ours.

We had several children and were not offered any light up cups. Did you have to specifically ask for them?
