Working on Weight Loss During Training--Wk of 11/19

Cam - so sorry you are having to go through all of this. I hope you get to feeling better soon! How many more tests do you have?

Jen - there's nothing like a new day to get back on track. I've certainly needed those "new" days lately.

Suzy - congrats on your new jean "feel". :thumbsup2 Let us know how your Christmas party turned out. Sounds like it is going to be a lot of fun.

Kristi - When's the next goo stalking, er, meeting? :teeth:

Carrie - three big meals, huh? Yikes! I'm glad it's only one for us.

Well, my diet has been so-so. Nothing gained, nothing lost. I guess that is good in a way. I W/R 8 miles this weekend so I'll bet the scales will go down a little....maybe....perhaps....we'll see. :teeth:

Cam - that doesn't sound like anything related to the CT scan to me. I am not a doctor, but i've had a few of those & Chad gets many of them to check that his cancer hasn't come back. And we've never had anything like that happen to us. Did you drink tons of that constast? Maybe that didn't sit well with you. Chad has to drink that stuff with his scans.

Susie - well...since you asked... :teeth:
I took a long, leisurely walk around the venue for tomorrow's show & what I think is their hotel in Boston today while at work. I found a big fat nothin'!

Tomorrow is them playing at The Rack (bar) in Boston at 3pm. I am gettign there really early so I can be near the front of the line, a.k.a. in Johnny's face! (poor man! :rotfl2: ) :teeth: Then the concert at night. And I am hoping the all-day rain holds off so I can maybe get an autograph by the buses afterwards. If it's raining (like they say it will) I know they won't come out. :sad2:

So, Cam - did you ever take the MA bar? I may need an attorney after tomorrow! :lmao:

disclaimer: I know I really sound stalker-ish. But honestly, I am way too shy to just approach them. If I did see them on the street it would go something like this in my head: "OMG, OMG, OMG!" and then I would just stupidly stand there and try to look like I didn't know who they were. I am a big chicken like that - all talk!

eta: Food stuff!
I have still not been good lately. I have been even more sleep deprived than ever, which leads me to hit the vending machine at work just to stay awake. I really have to concentrate on the sleeping, then I think the rest will fall back into place. But, other than a daily trip to the vending machine this week, I have been all core. That's probably what is saving me from utter disaster right now.

Off to the mall to buy something to wear tomorrow!

Happy December everyone!

I ended up losing 2 lbs over November. I guess a little is better than none at all (and weigh better than gaining!). But it looks like I will be carrying a lot more weight over two finish lines than I did over one last year. :furious:

Kristi we know you wouldn't attack them... at least we're pretty sure... :lmao: Have a blast! As for the "all day rain"... grrrr. I orig. planned to take today as a vacation day and do my 20 miler so it wouldn't interfer with the weekend. But due to the forecast I scrapped that idea. Currently, it is in the high 60s and no rain! Did we break the 100+ year record for hi-temp yesterday? I forgot to watch the news.

Cam-- How are you today? I sure hope you are feeling better now.

ETA: I just looked up yesterday's high for Logan (69 deg F). The record was 68 deg F set in 1881!

Sunny

Wow, Sunny, those temps are amazing for where you are!
We had 72 degrees here and I was wishing the whole day that I was free and feeling well enough to get out for a LW. UGH!

Susie -- so glad to hear your weight is holding steady when this is the month where most people gain. Give yourself a pat on the back! :thumbsup2 Good luck on your long W/R this weekend! :cool1:

I am feeling much better today. Thanks to everyone who asked. The really weird thing to me was that it was a chest CT scan where they put the contrast into your vein (artery?), so I couldn't figure out why it would affect my stomache. But I was well enough to eat last night. Good thing, too, because I had to fast for the bloodwork I had this morning and would have probably passed out if I hadn't eaten last night.

2 more tests to go -- complete pulmonary function on Monday and then a pulmonary stress test whenever it gets scheduled.

I was all core yesterday: a banana; an apple; and core turkey chili. I did take a bite of DS's alfredo noodles to be sure they were cooked last night.

I am very hungry today and since I mistakenly used half & half at the coffee shop instead of skim milk, I am not going to have my planned treat of some kind of bread for breakfast. I'll stick to shredded wheat with skim milk. It's better for me anyway.

I think I am down a net .8 from the beginning of November, which is terrible except when I think of the fact that I was up 6.1 from where I am now just a week or so ago. My weight fluctuates so much day to day that it is hard to even do any kind of meaningful comparison.

Sorry, Kristi, I've passed 3 Bars, but Mass isn't one of them. So, be very careful tonight. The best I can offer is bail money. :lmao: You know what they say, though: "a good friend will bail you out of jail in the middle of the night. A really good friend will be sitting in the cell next to you." Since I can't be there to share the wonder that is Johnny Goo  , don't be too stalkerish! :teeth:

OK, I was hungry all day yesterday, but I let it going. I did not feel like my sugar had crashed, so I just did gum. I am very rpoud. Now, to just get through a weekend at home. Must keep busy after the 18-miler.

FYI - We've fgot 3 to 4 inches here in 5 hours. So much for teh 60 degrees 2 days ago. High of 33 tomorrow. Welcome to winter running in MI. :guilty:

How you doin' Jen?

Congrats on a good day, Carrie! So glad you got past the munchies.

Good luck this weekend. I am right with you on the struggle. Party at my brother's house. Menu: meatballs, sausage, lasagna, chips, etc. I will bring a veggie platter and a fruit bowl. My salvation, I am sure.

I wonder if there is such a thing as core deviled eggs. That would be good. :teeth:

UGH. It is raining here. Guess I shouldn't complain. At least it isn't snow. But it looks like the reindeer run will be postponed to tomorrow night and we probably won't get there. Not sure I could make it anyway if I get in my 18 miles tomorrow a.m., as I am hoping to do. :sad1:

Hey all... I have been swamped at work. I leave for Vegas on Sunday, so much for staying on plan. It is so hard to eat all my meals out and stay on plan. But I will be doing a lot of walking and standing.

I stayed on plan ALL yesterday. I was so proud. Today I am doing OK, a couple slip ups, but I was aware of them.

Carrie - YIKES on the snow, good luck with those 18 miles!! We got a dusting last night, but the temps were pretty much too cold for snow. Snow is predicted for all weekend tho. I bet you got the Milwaukee/Chicago stuff once it flew over the lake.

Cam - Yah for feeling better!!! Couldn't you make deviled eggs with a little FF mayo and mustard. I like lots of yellow mustard in my deviled eggs. And I usually don't put all the yolks in.

I am swamped, but will try to check in tonight or tomorrow. I have 10 miles for tomorrow and am trying to plan out what I should do, inside or outside. I can't stand frigid cold wind. I'm TORN!!! I have a great path that is 5 miles out and 5 miles back, but it is off a highway and no wind protection. It is also quite hilly. I will only do it if the wind is manageable. If I have to run in 20 or less degree weather, there better not be WIND!

First the food report from yesterday...I didn't eat very much, but what I did was very bad. Chad let me sleep in - needed beauty sleep for my 'boyfriend', so no breakfast. In an effort to get ready & into Boston early to get in line for the mini goo show at the rack, I had a chicken nugget happy meal with apple dippers for lunch. Not great, but not terrible. I had nothing else until about 7:30pm. A small dinner special at a chinese take out place: fried rice & 2 chicken wings. Then I proceeded to have 3 glasses of wine before the show. (in my defense, I had to drink what I wanted then & there since drinks weren't allowed in the seating areas) :teeth: Chad & I were so tired driving home, and hungry, that we stopped at a 24 hour McD's (only thing open) and shared a quarter pounder. I am SO paying for all that bad food this morning though. I am hoping my stomach issues are better soon, since I am supposed to put in 8 miles today!

Now for the stalker report, in brief! ;)

I failed in my crazy stalker-ness yesterday. Johnny had to walk right by me to get up on the stage at the Rack & all my goo-buddies told me when he came through, I had to touch him. It was my duty. ;) When he went by, I just couldn't do it. I guess I was thinking how I would hate to have strangers touching me. So, I did not touch him at all - even though the girl next to me touched his back.
But, can you say holy closeness at the radio gig at the Rack? Chad & I were first in line and I was smack dab in front of John's mic.
100_7016.jpg

And guess who is now the proud owner of that very pic in Johnny's hand? :teeth:

Concert was great, of course. I forced Chad to wait with me & my girls by the buses. Turns out the Goos took a limo straight to Logan and chartered right back to NY. BUT, we hung around anyway, not believing security. After a LONG time, Brad Fernquist (back up guitarist) came out to meet us, sign autographs and take pics.
MeBrad_resized.jpg

Wicked bad hair for me due to the on & off rain, but...yay!!!

Jen - have a safe trip to Vegas!

Kristi -- awesome report! so glad I didn't have to wire bail money, but so sad your stalker efforts didn't yield huge results. Nice pix! And you look gorgeous! :teeth:

I stayed totally on core yesterday! Today I used the following for fuel for a 20 mile LR on the TM (almost 5 hours!): 1/2 slim fast; 40 oz power ade and water; snickers marathon energy bar; chocolate power bar; 1 bag sport beans; 1 bag cliff blocs (cran raspberry).

Picked up Andrew from his HS entrance test and took him to the chinese buffet. I won't tell you just how bad I was, but I am wondering whether that splurge will fuel the Special Olympics 5K that Howard still wants to do tonight.

Jen - good luck with your presentation in Vegas! My DH will be there with some of his friends on Wednesday. I don't know if you've heard - there is a big rodeo convention or something or other next weekend. You may have some cowboys trying to pick you up while your there.
cowboy1.gif
:teeth:

Cam - 20 miles. Holy cow! And you're gonna run tonite? You go, girl! :cheer2: I wouldn't worry too much about that "splurge". You probably needed it for the run tonight. :teeth: By the way, I'm glad you're feeling better.

Kristi - great "goo" report. :teeth: That first pic is not showing up. :confused3 Sounds like you had a good time. I don't think I would have touched either - but boy, I sure would want to. :p And - I think your hair is gorgeous. It looks really cute with those curls.

Carrie - great willpower. I've been snacking some late at night. It's like I get an urge and I just cave in. I need to get some gum. I think that would help.

Well, my eating is not the best but I'm hanging in there. I really need to eat more fruit. You just can't get any good fresh fruit around here. Of course, I realize that a lot of it's not in season but still......the fruit around here is just tasteless - except for the bananas and I am eating those for the potassium. I also need to get some V8 juice. Several people on the other thread have been drinking that more.

Hang in there everyone - marathon weekend is getting close. My goal is to lose 5 more pounds before then. I don't know if I can do it, especially during this holiday season, but I going to try.

Cam - keep that bail money handy. The next time they are in New England or New York, or even Philly, I am so there!

I am still not able to get back 100% on this WW wagon. I really don't know what the problem is. Maybe lack of planning, maybe just plain frustration of doing this for over 2 years. I don't know. I am not horrible, just not doing what I should be doing. So far, knock on wood, it hasn't made me gain weight. Every week I feel very lucky that my 'badness' hasn't gotten me in trouble yet.

I need a good swift kick in the rear! :cool1:

Just a quick post to say I'm back from 82 degree Florida to the frozen tundra otherwise known as Iowa :sad2: High today 18 degrees :sad2:

We had a fantastic time and saw an amazing sight our last morning as 50-100 sting rays came past our beach about 5 feet from the shore. Absolutely amazing

I have to admit I ate like a little piggie the entire time. A local fudge factory now has a major dent in its inventory as does a whole other ton of bad stuff :guilty:

Oh well back on track today. We did walk miles on the beach each day. My hip/back felt better than it has in months through all that walking. The nonimpact of the packed soft shore did wonders.

WISHing everyone an OP day :wizard:

Minnie -- Your trip sounds great!

Kristi-- I think I'll rename our "cruise fund" jar "Kristi's bail money" since there is no cruise on the horizon for us.

For everyone else that is doing this, congratulations and just keep it up. One mouthful at a time, right? I used to think the very next meal was the next opportunity to make the right decision. Now, I've decided that the very next bite is the opportunity -- I can't tell you how much food I have thrown away in the past few days when I "caught" myself and was able to rein myself in and NOT eat the rest of whatever it is.

All that being said, I think I ate every calorie I burned this weekend. During my 20 miler, IIRC I ate: 1/2 slim fast (before); 1 snickers marathon energy bar; 1 bag cliff shot blocks; 1 chocolate powerbar; 1 bag sport beans; ~40 oz powerade & water.

Afterwards, I picked up DS from his HS entrance exam and took him to chinese buffet. Nothing too bad there except an egg roll. Everything else was stuff I'd choose even if I was doing WW flex: wonton soup; steamed wontons; chicken & mushrooms; oriental string beans. Oh, now I remember -- I also ate few pieces of sweet & sour chicken (without any sauce) and some boneless spare ribs and some pepper steak. No dessert, though.

After the 5k Saturday night, I ate a taste of pizza and then at my nephew's birthday party -- 3 meatballs; 1 whole wheat roll; 3 slices roast beef; 1 slice provolone; 1/2 pc sausage pizza; 1 hot wing; 2 cheddar cheese triscuits; some pretzels; and a taste of birthday cake (no frosting).

Sunday: made pancakes for DH and DS but I ate egg beaters with mushrooms & fat free cheese. Lunch was core turkey chili & some whole wheat pasta. Dinner was barley cooked in FF chicken broth & a green salad w/grilled chicken, olives & FF italian dressing. I made cheesesteaks for DH and DS and tasted the steak, but was able to talk myself out of having a cheesesteak for dinner. Dessert was about 1/4 of DS's unwanted cinnabon. Fortunately, I threw the rest of it away before ate every last bite.

Today HAS to be better. WI is tomorrow night and I really do NOT want to have a gain.

Today:
B: coffee w/skim milk; shredded wheat w/skim milk
S: banana
L: rest of green salad from last night; core turkey chili
S: apple
D: barley w/veggies

I saw another 1/2 pound loss yesterday! I'm pretty proud of how I did over teh weekend. Now, I just need to keep beign good while the water weight increase. I tend to get depressed when the weight goes up and eat more. If I can hold out for the next two weeks, I shoudl see a big loss.

Cam - Sometimes I think SUnday is harder than the day of teh LLR. Just get back on track today.

Minnie, and Kristis - Time to get baclk on track!

Way to hang in there Susie!

Carrie: great job on the weight loss, especially after the weekend.

Minnie: sounds like a great trip to Florida.

Kristi: I'll kick you, if you'll kick me!!

My plans and goals have fallen off my map. I am so frustrated with myself. I hate when I stopped exercising, and paying attention to what I eat. I feel so much better when I eat right and exercise, so why is it so hard for me to do this regularly and consistently???

Thanks for letting me vent. I've done OK with eating, and plan to go to Curves this p.m. I was amazed when I weighed this morning since I really haven't gained anything back, inspite of not exercising, and eating lots of bad stuff.

I wish I knew!!!! If you find teh answer, please share! ;)

Carrie - woo hoo! :cheer2:

This is me ---> :cool1: kicking everyone's butts into gear! Including my own!

I was not good again yesterday. And I was so tired this morning at work, I actually slept on my keyboard from 7:05-7:25 :sad2: So, what did I do? I went downstairs & got a plain bagel with lt. cream cheese. And another diet cherry pepsi. I guess its not horrendous, like eating a bag of m&ms or something. But it's not good.

Cam - I am so excited you have a "Kristi's Bail Money" jar! I LOVE it! :teeth: I will have to start planning new stalking techniques in preparation for the next round of Goo in the spring or summer... Hey, maybe that will get me back on Core - have to look good for Johnny, right? :teeth:
