Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Jeanne - I think maybe I'll be able to use you and John to convince Bill to do Williamsburg! And Wendy too... He's just afraid of asking for another weekend off after being off this weekend for Myrtle Beach, but I'm trying to convince him that there's 3 months in between, so it's really not that bad...

Tandy - We really liked "The Expendables." I think "Red" was better, but enjoyed both of them. Which tells you just how bad "The Mechanic" really is! Stay far, far away. I have to upgrade our Netflix to include DVD's. Right now we just have the instant viewing option, so none of the new movies are available. The most recent thing I've been able to watch is Miley Cyrus's "The Last Song." Now that's desperate!

Maria - I agree with Tandy. I'd love to do a race weekend alone now. DH gets so grumpy with all the meets. I ended up skipping the 'Ohana meet last time just to have some park time with him. It's entirely possible to spend the entire weekend with WISHers! Or better yet, doing exactly what YOU want to do! Hope the weather is absolutely perfect. I'm excited about the forecast for the beach this weekend, especially since I'm not running and can just hang out and enjoy it.

I actually think I'll take my Garmin and wear it Saturday morning while I'm walking around the course looking for everyone. I hope I'll get a mile or two of walking (and maybe light jogging :ssst:) in during the race. Sunday when DH was at his 5K, I went to catch him at the finish line and started running to catch him and then realized I wasn't supposed to be doing that yet! I did confess to the PT what I'd done, and he was only a little bit unhappy with me.

Jackie

Jackie - Don't give up on films just yet! I'll send you a copy of my movie! It's an indie film - so there aren't any expectations for it  I saw 'Gnomeo and Juliet' last Friday! That was pretty funny and it's an animated film so it's on the shorter side. You might like that one but thanks for the tip on 'The Mechanic'. I like Jason Statham too but maybe I'll pass on it. Are you registering for MCM next Wednesday? I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get into the program - just make sure you share any recipes you get with us!

That's a tough decision for DD - Ireland or Disney. If she picks Disney, does she get to chose which area she'd like to work in?

Jeanne - Oooh a high school reunion! I've never been to one before but that would definitely motivate me. Actually with Facebook, it's kind of easy to see how everyone looks so there aren't any surprises. We'll keep you going and send lots of weight loss and motivational vibes your way :goodvibes

Tandy - Glad to hear your knee and knuckle are doing better! I'm thinking of taking a chemistry class this summer so that I can at least get a feel for what being in a class, doing homework, listening to lectures will be like. I'll probably be able to apply that chem credit in what degree/course I pursue. The Oscars are on February 27th I believe. So I have to ask, now that you've watched 'Social Network', are you going to get a Facebook account :)

Maria - Your Valentine's Day dinner sounds decadent! I love going to the running expos and checking things out but going to the Boston expo would be awesome! Your training sounds like it's coming along nicely :) Do your guys have any plans while you're at the Princess?

Beth - :bday:party: Happy happy birthday! Hope you're having a fabulous day!!

Can't believe how long it's been. Not sure what happened...certainly haven't felt that busy. (Okay, so I lie - I feel swamped in work. But I'm not sure why...except poor time management skills.) Did everyone enjoy Valentine's Day?

Beth: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! :banana: :cake::bday:party:

And congrats on all the poundage down, wowsa! And on coming back into your old self. You're inspiring, as I know the weighed-down feeling with running, and energy, etc.

Maria: First, congrats on Chewbacca. (Chewie makes me think of gummies. :lmao:) I just love the addition to the family and the sci-fi naming tradition. Give Chewie a cuddle for me, post- vet visit. He sound just adorable, the way all kittens are!

Second, I just read Wolf Hall, and in my Tudor historical fiction phase. I'm behind on "The Tudors" TV show, but it's in the queue.

Third, just like Beth, woo hoo for all the pounds lost & feeling better running. You're another one to follow (quite literally in some cases). :goodvibes I'm jealous of your upcoming Princess and your post-race downtime! (How is Boston training going for DH? 16M is great, and I assume he's feeling good.)

Fourth, a transition to a new pastor...wow, that could be stressful and time intensive. But very cool that you'll get to know the new pastor so well, and help that person settle in!

Fifth, what a great Valentine's Day - you know, when it's a splurge and not an everyday thing...it's actually more special and memorable!

Vicky: So sorry to hear, definitely, about the Princess. I think you should try the Wine & Dine - although I know the night race messed with folks' schedule a bit. But you're not much of a morning person IIRC. I just love that you're making career plans and exploring different options - a whole new career/whole new you! I'm also very pleased to read you're giving yourself an appropriate amount of pampering. You deserve it!

I'm glad you saw 127 Hours, even if you had similar reactions. I felt light-headed during parts of it, a real visceral reaction. But I'm glad I saw it, are you? I need to go like Night Vision. I have to see "The Kids are All Right," "The Fighter, and "The Social Network." Huh. Hadn't realized I'd missed "The Kids are All Right" until just now.

Sounds like you get to break in a new PT. I hope he's tough on you, as I know you like the challenge. Good eye candy can be motivating, though.

Jackie: I just love reading your progress with PT and everything. You sound happier in each progressive post, since I'm reading them in a series. How very cool that your PT is focused on your goals, AND that there's a local 8K for you to incorporate into your return to running. That's just great news! The stars are aligned! Good luck with your Garmin WALK (and maybe some jogging). :rolleyes1

So funny that DD has so many cool options and it's hard to decide. The tyranny of choice. And the plan to run the full. Ah to be young and be able to complete & recover without training! (I'm sure she'll train- just going on her past runs.)

We must part ways on True Grit. I loved it, and the original. I'm a fan of the Coen Brothers. It won't win Best Pic, but it deserved the nom. (I'm thinking The King's Speech this year, but I have to see all the films first.)

Kim: I'm not following a diet per se, either. It made me so unhappy and stressed last year that I went in the other direction. (Okay, that wasn't solely the reason I gained weight, but I'm scapegoating.) So far, the weight is coming off slowly, but I'm not anxious about it. I just keep trying to make good (or less evil) choices a meal at a time.

How's the soda drinking coming along? Have you cut back? It sounds as if, overall, you're more conscientious. I'm so impressed with your ability not to gain weight on cruises. Vacations do me in.

We're in for the Goofy in 2012.

Tandy: Wow, so much big news! Congrats on enrolling in nursing school - that's a BIG life decision. So exciting! The math would do me in, but I know that you've got the focus to ace the tests, classes, etc!

I do have to say, that I admire your Feb. no sugar plan, even if it's a day by day thing. And your focus on a healthy you with the running, Zumba and lifestyle changes in general. And I think Harrison's own healthy life journey is just wonderful. He's deservedly proud of himself, and you too! Being aware of what he eats, of his own volition. Very cool! (And for the race plans, too.)

And good luck to Frank and SS with the Nutrisystem.

I loved King's Speech, and was very surprised as my taste in movies is somewhat darker. Well worth a look. (Hidden post: Congrats to the Packers; and maybe the Steelers will see them at the big game next year.)

Very cool training plan, with the alternating between distance and speed. The variety must be good for you mentally, too. And yes! be proud of the running cred! Not to mention all your weight loss!

Jeanne: Welcome back - not that I'm here are regularly as I need to be. You had an extraordinarily busy and stressful year. Don't beat yourself up too much. You know One-derland is within your reach! Signing up for the Williamsburg half-marathon is a great way to jump up on that wagon!

AFM: Well, the weight loss is up and down. Valentine's Day set me back. I've lost a total of five pounds, I think, maybe six.

This weekend, I went for my LR outdoors. Fell in front of a car making a left into a parking lot. I didn't get hit, but I sent my iPod sprawling. Me, too. I have a bruise on my leg about the size of a baseball. Down to the muscle, too, so I'm sore. Ran yesterday, but it was slow & my gait was off. Not sure i should have done that. Oh, well, I'll be trying again Thursday.

DOOD and I sat down to discuss races and healthy living plans in Jan. Since I do all the cooking and we'd both gained weight, I gently tried to ask him about his goals. In denial, he is. He finally said he'd try to cut down on sweets - for his family history of diabetes. But I'm still making muffins and he's still making his daily stop at the local bakery - just sneaks it now. Stress, I think. In comparison I've a tale of success. Not that I'm competitive or anything. :rotfl2:

Okay, that's my catch-up post. Whew. Now I have to head out for a little stroll. It's a nice day out so I want so outdoor time. My WO schedule was messed up today because of work, so I'm going to the gym tonight. That means I'm double dipping with a lunchtime walk - and not of the ice cream variety. I'd run, but I don't think that's smart today.

Hello ladies. I am really loving all this posting. :lovestruc

Beth: Happy Birthday!!!!:cake: This cake has no calories or points! :thumbsup2

Debra: Sorry life is getting so busy. At least you're losing weight. So sorry about the big fall. I'm really good at things like that too. Is it feeling any better? I am always bruised. And, usually, some pretty deep ones. I just have no coordination at all. Even working on my core and my balance hasn't helped. Oh well.
The no sugar thing is falling apart. I try, but, alas, I am weak!
Everyone seems to be predicting The King's Speech to be the big winner. I can't wait to see it. And, I am a Coen Bros fan also. The Big Lebowski and Oh Brother, Where Art Thou are my all time favorites. And, I loved the original True Grit.

Vicky: No. No Facebook for me. I just can't do it. I found the movie very interesting though. Had no idea it started at Harvard and then moved on to other campuses before hitting the mainstream. I think Zuckerberg was such a jerk to his friend. Or, maybe just self absorbed and weak.

Jackie: Oh, you're a bad girl. Running when you aren't supposed to be! ;) Are you hurting for it? I will definitely stay away from the Mechanic. I enjoyed the Expendables, but it was soooo over the top action adventure. Plus, Stallone's speech is just getting worse the older he gets. I like him for what he is though.

Jeanne: Ooooh, a reunion is great motivation for weight loss! The race sounds good too. I love Williamsburg. Frank's family helped to found it, so we get special back stage access to his family's house and some other stuff. It's fun. My family's US history is only 3 generations, so I am far removed from his blue blood ancestry! :lmao:

AFM: I'm getting ready to go run, just putting it off here. I've been walking for 5 days straight, which feels fantastic. Archie is a much happier dog this week. :) Zumba tonight and then, boot camp tomorrow. I am feeling in control on the exercise for sure. But, I just feel flabby. I know I'm not, but this extra weight is driving me crazy. I really want to be in great shape when I start school, because I won't have as much time for exercise. Although, one of my classes in the fall is titled Lifetime Fitness. I am going to get credit to go to the school gym and work out 2 hours a week. I can do more, if I want, but that's the minimum. I just find this amusing.

Have a great day ladies.

Can I keep up with you ladies?! Only time will tell...

Beth -- :dancer::bounce: Hope your birthday is dancy-bouncy! Doesn't that sound like fun?!

Tandy -- I'm glad you are enjoying the walking, and smooth move getting college credit for 2 hours of working out each week! :thumbsup2

Debra -- for your fall, that does not sound pleasant! Just think, no more holidays until President's Day :rotfl2: Although hopefully that one's not tied to indulgence :confused3

Vicky -- The fellas are going to a University of New Hampshire hockey game, and probably doing a lot of leaving things around the house, that seems to be the favorite activity when I'm not around :rotfl:

Jackie -- You rebel, you! I don't blame you for sneaking that run in -- I'm sure you were just caught up in the moment! :goodvibes I'm starting to think about how I may spend my time. I think there's a group going to JellyRolls Sunday night, and I probably won't see a Park until after the race, which is better for my rest, anyway. I think I may go to DTD Saturday before the WISH Meet. Monday and Tuesday are just pure Park days. I got a Hopper, so I can feel free to experience more than I normally would. I haven't been to DHS in about 5 years because we didn't find much to do there, I am psyched I could go there for EMH and ride TSM and maybe try out ToT and RnR, which I've also never done. How brave will I be?!

Oops, gotta run to ds's school for an 8th grade curriculum meeting...back tomorrow with the scoop on my super long day today!

Oh, and down .6 at last night's WW weigh in, for a total of 9.4 in 4 weeks. I am going to get to 10 before I go, or miss it after making a stellar effort pirate:

Maria :upsidedow

Thanks for the birthday wishes, my friends! 45th.....maybe we need to stop celebrating that many birthdays!

I have bad news.....I believe I have a herniated disc.......with numbness in my left leg.... it is bringing all my success of late to a big halt.

I have been on steroids since Monday.....trying to avoid over eating. No exercise until next Monday, then I will be able to try the elliptical. Running is a big no right now. I am so bummed. I did notice a tingling in my foot several months ago, I guess it was my back 'talking' to me. I ignored it of course.....not sure what it was!

I have been good just eating my points each day...sitting on my butt. I haven't lost anything this week, but I guess I am lucky I didn't gain anything.

I was thinking about NYC 1/2 marathon in April.....but I guess I need to re-think that. I have an appointment for the spine specialist in 2 weeks. I am hoping that the meds work, and the numbness goes away.

I do appreciate the birthday wishes!!!!! Thanks everyone.

Beth

Vicky - Yep, registering for MCM on Wednesday. I think it opens at noon my time, so I have my alarm set! Do send me a copy of your film. I need something to watch. I don't know how the college program works at Disney. They may get to suggest where they want, but I don't know if they really get to pick.

Debra - DH LOVED the original True Grit, and I was really enjoying the movie until the last 10-15 minutes. I just hated the ending. Felt like it went completely flat, and could have done without the entire horse part. Can't say more without giving anything away! I kept reminding myself that Jeff Bridges was not playing John Wayne, although it was hard not to compare. I didn't particularly care for his portrayal, but I could forgive that overall if I hadn't been so frustrated at the end. Otherwise, I generally like the Coen brothers. But right now, not so much. I'm generally pissed at the film industry overall. We don't go to a lot of movies, and we're on a roll right now wasting money on mediocre films.

Tandy
- The running didn't hurt at all. Just made me want more! Tonight they put me on the elliptical. Ouch! I was supposed to do 10 minutes, but after 5, I was almost dead, so she switched me back to the machine I usually do, more of a bike. I'm supposed to get on the TM tonight, but motivation is quickly slipping away... And yes, Stallone is sounding worse and worse. Kinda like Seagal looks worse and worse.

Maria - Ooh! Single rider line. You can ride over and over. TSM is the best! We only got to ride it once last trip. And RnR is our all time favorite ride. I'm so jealous. Can you stop and pick me up and stuff me in a suitcase? HS is our least favorite park, so we don't spend much time there, but the few rides that are there are top-notch. We also did Lights Motors Action a couple of trips ago and found it really enjoyable. Every time I ride ToT I swear I'll never ride it again, and then I somehow find myself back on it, despite the fact that I hate it!

Beth - :bday: And I'm so sorry to hear about your disc. I hope it turns out not to be the problem, but I know you'll do the right thing if it is and take it easy. It's so hard NOT to run. Trust me, I know! And I'm with you on stopping the birthday celebrations. I hit 49 this year. There will be no more after this one!

Need to go find something to eat, and decide if I'm going to hit the TM or not. I did upper body weights at work (yep, it's THAT slow at work. My co-worker and I brought our dumbbells in and when the boss left for a couple of hours, she and I did our workouts!), then had PT, so I've had a really good workout today. But I haven't done any mileage since Thursday, so I'm feeling really guilty...

Jackie

Hey team!!!

I wasn't getting any alerts:confused3

Happy Birthday Beth!!!!!!

Hope everyone is doing great!!!!!

I am doing OK, have cut back the pepsi big time, but not totally gone. I didn't have any yesterday and woke up with a killer headache but it is gone now so will try for day 2. Thank you all for asking and the support, great to know you are all here:grouphug:

Happy belated birthday, Beth! I missed it here, but got you on FB yesterday. So sorry to hear about your back issues. I also had a herniated disc over 20 years ago. It was a miserable experience. Ultimately, I had surgery which was extremely successful, but that's not something you want to do until all the other options are exhausted. I really feel for you, girl.

Maria: I wish I didn't already have plans for the Princess weekend......I'd be happy to come down and do the rides with you! Actually, I do single-rider line a lot.........my husband is such a wimp, he will hardly ride anything. I learned a long time ago it's either ride alone or not at all.

Jackie: you are such a road warrior! I wish I could program myself to WANT to run. :thumbsup2 Any more thoughts on the Williamsburg event? Now I'm thinking about the Hershey Half also. The registration doesn't open until May, but I think I'll probably do it.

Everyone else: :flower3:

Can it be? Two days in a row? What's the world coming to? :lmao:

Tandy: I'm glad, sort of, that I'm not the only clutz. I always imagined running would make me more agile and graceful. Hah. I just love the idea that you'll be taking a Lifetime Fitness class. Talk about double-dipping, with an incentive to show up to class.

Maria: I love the fact that your Princess Half schedule is so packed. I wish we were coming down a few days earlier, but alas. We fly in on Friday. Definitely do TSM as your first ride at DHS, first thing in the morning. It's a blast, but the lines are long and FP goes quickly! Congrats on your weigh-in - that's a fabulous number!

Beth: Oh, I'm sorry to hear about your herniated disc. That sounds so painful! But I'm proud that you're watching what you eat and being careful in your return-to-activity plan. Frustration alone is a big flag for me, in terms of eating. I'll be thinking of you and hoping your appt. with the specialist brings good news.

Jackie: Can totally see your reservations about the ending of "True Grit," and it is hard not to compare Bridges with Wayne. My vote for most annoying Western of recent years goes to "The Assassination of Jesse James;" by 2/3 of the way through I was willing to shoot the man myself. Have you seen "The King's Speech" yet. I'm not one for costume dramas, but I like it a lot.

I'm impressed that you're squeezing in workouts at work - don't feel guilty that you haven't done any mileage since Thursday. You're doing lots of important physical rebuilding (not quite the word I'm looking for) and are coming back stronger than ever!

Kim: Yay for cutting back on Pepsi. I know how hard it is - I love my sugar, sugar substitutes, and caffeine! You're doing a great job! :yay:

Jeanne: Definitely consider the Hershey Half. I'm going, and it's going to be a fun time. I like how they've organized the walkers and runners starts, which is similar to Pittsburgh. (Without the hills, though, I hope.) DianeL has looked into the race, and I trust her judgment.

AFM: I did get in a double-dip WO yesterday, and today's run will be some lunchtime fun. It's beautiful out, and that does wonders for my attitude. I'm hoping it will be easier than Tuesdays, of course, but if not I'll fake it. I'm supposed to be squeezing in some WDW planning today, but not feeling it. Gasp, I know. DOOD has no opinions, and I've got a lot of things I'd like to do. But the dining, well, that's at odds with other goals. Say, Leanie goals. Maybe you all have some inspiration - where are your favorite places to eat?

Hi Leanies! It's a quiet day at work so I'm going to sneak back in while I can :)

Debra - WTG on the 5lb loss! My favourite Disney restaurants are The Yachtsman, California Grill and Beaches & Cream. I don't think too much about diet while I'm on vacation so I'm probably not the person to ask

I wouldn't say you're "missing" much with 'The Kids Are All Right' - flat script, slow/no plot and one dimensional characters. I thought at first maybe I was a little bit sensitive to the relationship stuff in the movie but I just didn't really care for or have anybody to root for. I really liked 'Social Network' but then again I like David Fincher :)

And count me in the klutzy no balance group too! Lots of times I've not being paying attention and nearly tripped on sidewalk cracks and the like. I'm glad nothing serious happened though

Jeanne - The Hershey Half is on my list of races I'd like to eventually run. I don't know much about the Williamsburg race...

Kim - I think it's all about baby steps because it's really tough to go cold turkey on something you're use to having everyday. Glad to hear you're feeling better today

Jackie - Love the working out at work! I use to do a little bit of that when our group was in less of a high traffic area. Now I just do the office laps like Maria! I've got a reminder on my phone set for next Wednesday as well. Noon right?

How scary is ToT? Lots of big drops or just a bunch of little ones? I'm a total ride chicken - so EE is probably the 'scariest' coaster you'll get me to ride

Beth - and pixiedust: for your back I know how hard it to not run or do much. You're doing the right thing with your eating! Good for you! It is not easy ... keep us posted!

Maria - WTG! 9.4 in 4 weeks!! Awesome!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you'll hit 10 before Princess! When I was younger, my mom complained that we'd leave messes around the house for her to clean up  At the time, I think it was hard because there was no one there reminding us to keep things clean! I love TSM! It's a ton of fun but my arm is always so sore by the end of the ride. I think if my accuracy improved, I wouldn't have to shoot as much.

Tandy - Yeah, I felt really badly for Eduardo - I couldn't believe they cheated him out of those shares! And I hear ya on the extra weight! I think I've got to follow in Beth's example and get a grip on my eating. I don't know what it is. I just can't seem to get rid of the sugar this time around. The extra weight is making me feel really gross (and sluggish) too.

AFM - I went to the gym last night and did a bit of cardio - 35 minute on the bike. I'm also trying to get back and do the 100 pushups challenge. I figured it's the least I can do (or just clean up my eating) since I can't do much cardio or weights right now. Here's a link to it if anyone's interested:

http://hundredpushups.com/

Anyway I did the inital test and managed about 40 before collapsing on the floor. I'm not sure how good pushups 35-40 were but seeing how I had to get to 51 before moving on to the next level, it doesn't matter. I fall into the 30-50 pushups range.

The program suggested I start on week 3 which seems about right. I did day 1 over the weekend and decided to do day 2 at the gym last night. Except I scrolled through the page a little too quickly on my phone and did day 3 instead. It was tough and I didn't realize why until I finished and looked at my phone. Whoops! I'll let you know if I make it to 100 in a few weeks

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good morning lovely ladies. I hope everyone has great weekend plans. We are just relaxing and getting in our last basketball game, thank goodness. I am done with this sport! :)

Vicky: Yep, eating is bad. But, we'll get a handle on it eventually. Don't worry. You are very committed once you get started. I'm glad you are finding things to do while you are so limited in exercise choices. I don't think I can handle the 100 pushup challenge. Maybe 10 or 20.
TofT is amazing. It's one of my favorite rides. Less scary than EE, in my opinion.

Debra: Great job on the weight loss. As far as where to eat to stay on track with healthy eating, that's a toss up. I know the buffets don't have great food, but they always have healthy options. Of course, they have lots of dessert and bread too. Are you a fish eating vegetarian, or a complete vegetarian (I don't know what the terms are)? My favorite restaurants at WDW are Citricos and Wolfgang Puck Express.

Jeanne: How has the eating been going? How about training?

Kim: Glad to hear that you've managed to cut back and gone at least one day without. Good for you! :thumbsup2

Jackie: OMG, Seagal looks like crud! I can't believe he used to be such a hot guy, married to such a hot girl! Did you see his ex on Celebrity Fit Club? She got kind of chunky, but was still gorgeous, and she did manage to lose a bunch of weight on the show.
I hate the elliptical too. You will never catch me on one of those things. I think I'm just not built for it or something. I can run forever, but can't do 10 minutes on that machine. Love your weight lifting at work. What a great way to get through the day! :thumbsup2

Beth: I'm so sorry to hear about your back! What a bummer. Glad you're still sticking to the diet and not getting too discouraged. 45 is not old, just so you know. It just means you get to move up a category in races! :thumbsup2

Maria: Congrats on 9.4!!!! You are doing so great. I bet the trip is going to be awesome. I will say this. DHS is fun, but it's no longer a whole day for us. There's just not a lot to do over and over again. I love TofT, love RnR (and yes, single rider line) and love TSM even though I think it's overrated. I don't think Star Tours is open yet. Love Lights, Motors, action and Indiana Jones. Actually, there's a lot more than that, so maybe there is enough to last the whole day! :lmao:
Anyway, I'm sure it will be an amazing time. When do you leave?

AFM: I am in so much pain from boot camp. I could barely sleep last night, and thank god for biofreeze from marathon weekend! We spent the first half hour in the big gym and did things like bear crawls, duck walks, planks that walk across the whole gym sideways (a total killer), running the stairs 2 at a time as fast as we could, etc..... Then, we went into the aerobics room and she had 6 stations set up. We did leg lifts with weights, jumping over an aerobics step, kettle ball figure 8s through our legs, weighted wall squats, tricep dips and some other weight thing. Anyway, my traps, lats and deltoids are killing me (back muscles) as well as my abs. At least I know I'm getting my money's worth.

So, this last week, I managed boot camp, 2 zumba classes, 6 walks and 3 runs and I lost NO WEIGHT!!!!! Since it's obviously not from lack of exercise, you can all guess what is wrong. My diet has stunk. I am going to go back to vegetarian. I am determined this time. We watched Food, Inc. which is a documentary about the food industry. I was appalled and disgusted, but won't go into details.

Does anyone else want to start another challenge for March? Those that are going to Princess should be back, and I know I need it. Any ideas on what we could do? I can lead it, if you want, but just need to know who would be on board, and what we could do.

Frank took me shoe shopping last night. I had so much fun. Bought the most beautiful pair of pumps. They are leopard print and about 5 inches! We are going to a really special zoo fundraiser in June that is black tie and I wanted an animal print, but don't want to buy a dress that's animal print, because I'll never wear it again. So, I'm going to wear a black dress that I have and go for animal accessories instead. The shoes are super cute and I can wear them with lots of things. I need to find a leopard print head scarf now, I think. Or, maybe even a headband with ears! Yes, I would do it. Frank wants a tie with animals on it, so that's the next big hunt!

Saw Winter's Bone 2 days ago. I thought it was an excellent movie. It was sad and depressing, but beautifully done. There's just something about a lower budget, quietly done movie that I appreciate. The Hurt Locker was the same type of movie and it was my favorite last year, for sure. Inception should be here tomorrow. Can't wait to see that.

I'm off to get my run in for the day. Have a wonderful weekend ladies!

Hello LMs.

So sorry to have been away so long. Life has definitely taken over. I've gone back to read what you've been up to so I am up to speed.

Maria: Great job on your half marathon. Terrific job on the weight loss. I've gone back to WW too and have had some success. I do want to point out that on December 8th you lamented the fact that we hadn't had much snow yet. How do you feel about it now? It's been an unbelievable winter. Have fun at the Princess. I'd really like to do that one year. Congrats to Dennis for his marathon finish. Was he happy with his race? How is his training for Boston going?

Tandy: Congrats on your Goofy. Very impressive times. Sorry you fell and hurt yourself. Way to keep going. Congrats on your decision to go to nursing school. Very exciting. I would definitely be interested in joining another challenge.

Jackie: Glad to see you are recovering well from your surgery. Slow and steady and you'll be back at it in no time.

Kim: Welcome back to the LMs. Good luck with giving up the soda.

Beth: Sorry to hear about your back problems. Hope you are on the road to recovery. I'm glad you've gone back to WW. Remember you are not alone in gaining back what you've lost. Give yourself credit for not gaining it all back and remember how crummy this feels so once you've lost it again you'll have more incentive for keeping it off.

Debra: Good job with the 100 Day Challenge. I've been following you on FB. Congrats on your Goofy finish.

Jeanne: I loved all the wedding pictures. Good luck getting back on the LM wagon.

Vicky: Congrats to you on your marathon finish. Fantastic time for your first one. Hope your injury is getting better. In the meantime enjoy a short break from running.

AFM: I am back to working. Full time now. It's the first time in 6 yrs that I'm working FT. It has been a challenge to figure out how to fit everything in. I keep reminding myself that I need to pace myself and find a way to fit everything into my life in such a way as I don't burn out. Not so easy. I'm learning to give some control away which is hard for me. I'm letting my DH plan/cook a lot of the meals. He doesn't always make the healthiest things so I'm having to eat just a small portion and fill up on salads instead a lot.
My weight is up a bit. I don't know exactly how much since I refuse to get on the scale. I made it through the holidays relatively well, but then fell victim to the winter blahs and went crazy with the sweets. I've been eating reasonably well for 2 weeks now and even made it back to WW. Luckily there's a meeting place just 2 minutes away from work. There is also a gym nearby work that I joined so now I belong to 2 gyms. One near home and one near work. I'm hoping that means I'll get there regularly. I'm still trying to find a routine that will work.
I am training to run Boston again this year. With the new job and the weather I am a bit behind in my training, but I've decided not to panic about it and just do the best I can. I'll have to lower my expectations for my finish time. With the new qualifying standards they are coming out with I have to imagine that this might be the last time I get to run Boston, so I'm hoping to enjoy it as much as I can.
I guess that's all the time I have to post. I will try to get back here more often.
Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Cindy - Welcome back! And welcome to the world of working full-time. It's definitely easier now that DD is out of the house and I don't have to worry about anyone other than DH and me. Cereal is a perfectly acceptable dinner. (Although not when you're trying to eat healthy and lose weight...)

Vicky - ToT terrifies me. It used to be just a couple of drops, but now it's a random sequence so you never get the same ride twice. There are multiple drops, some just a couple of stories, and some all the way down. There are times I'm not even sure whether I'm going up or down. I love roller coasters, but I prefer loops. I don't really like big drops, so why I ever get on ToT is beyond me.

Tandy - I'd be up for another challenge. I should find out this week if I get to do the diet thing at work, but I don't think that will dramatically alter my food choices. I'm already trying to focus on the same things Beth did last summer - fruits/veggies, dairy, and fiber. I'm just missing the activity that I need.

Debra - Have not seen "The King's Speech" yet, but I'd really like to see it. It may be the only other one of the nominees that I actually see this year.

Jeanne - Bill talked to his boss Thursday, and he is completely on board with him doing as many races as he wants to. So I'm going to bite the bullet and register us for Williamsburg. Probably tomorrow at work, when I'm looking for things to do...

I'm now having second thoughts about MCM. I don't want to do another full. Of course, if I tell my running buddy, she's going to kill me. But I think as long as I go to DC with her, I'll live. So if I do the 10K, I should survive the news. I just really, really, don't have any interest in doing 26.2. I don't want to work that hard, especially starting from zero.

I did, however, do almost 5 this weekend. I didn't mean to. Honest. It just happened. I walked to the start line with DH, DD, and RB (running buddy). It was a mile from the hotel to the start. Then I had time to kill, so I walked back to the hotel to Starbucks. 2.0. Then I walked back to the start/finish area to wait for DH. 3.0. Then when I saw DH I followed him to the finish. (It was .2 from where they made the turn to the finish line) 3.2 Then we went back out to the turn to wait for RB and DD. 3.4. Then I went to the finish line when RB came in. 3.6. Waited there till everyone else came in. Walked around the finish festival, then went back to the hotel. 4.6+

My entire body is certain I ran a half. I ache from my shoulders to my ankles. And I have a blister on my toe. Absolutely no different from if I'd run while undertrained! And DD - the one who only did a 6 mile run? She ran a 2:29!

Yesterday was about as perfect a day as I've seen in months. We got in the hot tub after the race, then while DD was in the shower, I went out on our balcony in my bathing suit and fell asleep in the sun. Ended up with a slight case of sunburn! We went walking on the beach around 3:00, and the foot with the PF was hurting so bad that I stuck it in the ocean. Instant ice pack!

Good night everyone...

Jackie

Good morning everyone.

Love holiday Mondays. Spent alot of time walking around this weekend. We went to the auto show twice....parked quite a ways away and the show was in 2 buildings a bit aways apart and walked back and forth many times.

Eatting was pretty good this weekend considering we where out of the house alot. I did make a bunch of freezable meals for the week and ready to tackle this weight issue head on.

Opps sorry gang will be back to catch up, timer on the stove just went off...never fails

Kim

Good morning leanies! Hope everyone had a great long weekend! Thought I'd also give our thread another bump back up to the top of the page!

Kim - Walking at the Auto Show and downtown sounds like great exercise! Are you thinking of buying used and just checking out the models or leasing/buying something new? Good job on making freezable meals! I have a few of those in my freezer - soups and veggie chilli mostly but I should get back into the habit of doing that. Any recipe suggestions for me?

Jackie - Isn't it great being young? I don't think I could run 6 in preparation for a half. Ouch on the sunburn but it sounds like it was a great trip! I was also having second thoughts about registering for MCM  Not so much that it was a training commitment or that I didn't want to run the full, but I haven't run in about 2 months so I don't feel like my heart is in anymore. I'm trying to register for some courses this Fall but am not sure if they would conflict with a trip.

Cindy - Welcome back! We missed you  I'm glad to hear you're running Boston again! That is fantastic news! Yes, working full time, especially 9 to 5 hours makes things a little tricky. Congrats on the job though!! But like you said, it's all about managing expectations and letting some things go. You'll figure out a routine that works for you soon enough! And feel free to join the rest of us who went a little off track with the eating over the holidays! The most important part is that we're all committed to cleaning things up. And like you, I also don't want to get on the scale. I'm going to try and go by how my clothes feel. I'm not sure I'm ready to see the number on the scale.

Tandy - Your boot camp sounds killer! I've never heard of some of those exercises before but I can only imagine what they are from the names! No wonder you're sore! But it sounds like you'll be lean and buff in no time at all! I would definitely be up for another challenge - maybe points for exercising, clean eating, drinking water, weight loss/inches dropped etc. And then having bonus points for suggesting recipes (can you tell I'm looking for new ideas), trying new exercises, consecutive workouts … Any pics of the new shoes? I haven't been able to wear heels in f-o-r-e-v-e-r so I'm jealous! Enjoy 'Inception'! It's a great movie! I watched it a second time to make sure I caught everything...

Maria - You'll have to ride TSM a few times and give Mickey a hug for me! Are you packed and ready to go? I'm bummed that I won't get to see you guys again :( Hope you're able to hit 10 before leaving :)

Debra - Are you looking forward to the Oscars this weekend? I'm not sure I'll be able to stay up to watch the whole thing but I'm definitely going to give it a shot! I watched 'True Grit' and 'The Fighter' this weekend so I'm done!! I really enjoyed the acting in 'True Grit' (didn't realize they spoke like that back in the day) but thought something was missing from the ending of the movie. Not sure what it was exactly…

Beth - How's your back doing?

Jeanne - :wave2:

AFM - Sorry I'm cutting and pasting from my team thread so sorry if it's is a repeat. I'm just feeling lazy

I'm canceling my flight to Florida today. I had been holding off to see if there would be a winter storm or something like that. Then there would be a chance of a full refund. Oh well, maybe I should go and buy a lotto ticket instead I'm having someone at work pick up my race packet - I figured I might as well collect my shirt and little food samples since I paid for it. Registration for MCM opens tomorrow at noon and I'm thinking I'm going to register for the full… but still thinking about the whole thing and whether or not it’s a good idea.

I did a lot of cooking and baking this weekend! I made a batch of dairy free cupcakes for a friend to celebrate her getting a new job! It was my first time making cupcakes that didn't have traditional ingredients but they turned out really well I think. The recipe called for silken tofu and soy milk. If I make them again, I'd swap the oil for applesauce. I also made a roast chicken for the first time. It was pretty easy but it has to cook for a loooooonnnngg time.

I also watched 'The Fighter' and 'True Grit' on the weekend which means I've seen all the best pic nominees! Yay! I do want to see 'How to Train Your Dragon' but I do think 'Toy Story 3' will win in the best animation category.

Got in some workouts and my ankle seems to be doing better! Yesterday I worked out with a different trainer and we did a lot of core work and a mini boxing workout. I think I badly needed that cardio and butt kick - I am really sore today! He asked if I would ever consider doing kickboxing or boxing - like Cara on BL. I had never thought about it before, mostly because I don't want to get beat up  He did say I was a lot stronger since training with him last so that was a great compliment for me. Food-wise, I've been pretty good this weekend. I couldn't cut out the sugar but I stayed low sugar, it's a start :)

I hope to get to the gym tonight and use the bike for a bit and to get my pushups in for the challenge. I'm on week 4!

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Aaaaaaaargh!

I had this beautiful, long lovely post with replies for everyone, and now it's just gone...I will try to reconstruct as best I can :headache: Sorry for the short thoughts.

Vicky -- Great job cooking and baking. I leave Friday morning, and it can't be soon enough! Sorry I'll miss you this weekend! :sad1:

Kim -- Sounds like a good weekend, I hope you had a wonderful time! Weaning yourself off Pepsi is hard, I'm proud of the effort you are putting into it! :thumbsup2

Jackie -- Falling asleep in the sun sounds like a little slice of heaven to me. :lovestruc All that warmth and light...I can see how you accidentally walked 5M, I hope you feel better soon!

Cindy -- So happy to see you posting! Dennis was not happy with his time because he lost his legs about Mile 20. He's training better this time with all outside runs, more hills, and more weight work. Congratulations on running Boston again, so very impressed! :worship:

Jeanne -- Very anxious to explore the wonders of the Single Rider Line! This will be my first time, wish me luck! :shamrock:

Beth -- So sorry to hear about the herniated disc. Some of the people in my meeting do nothing at all for exercise, and they do lose. It's slower, but you can do it!

Debra -- I arrive Friday, too -- 10:40 am on JetBlue. Are you onsite? Maybe I'll see you in the ME line. I'm going to AS Sports. Are you coming to the WISH Meet? It's at 4pm on Saturday at the AS Sports food court. Hope to see you there! :thumbsup2

Tandy -- I'm totally up for another Challenge! Those new shoes sound fun and flirty, I'm sure you will love them! :yay:

Now for me...(crossposted for efficiency)

Wednesday Feb. 16th -- I am having a really long day today. I have to go directly from work to a meeting at DS's school so I can learn about 8th grade curriculum and their choices (fine arts and modern foreign language -- they all have to take Latin), at 6pm. That should last until 7pm, at which point we have to sprint into the suburbs to our church, where our District Superintendent is introducing our new pastor at 8pm. I have to be at this meeting, since I'm the chairperson for the personnel committee. It is slightly awkward since this church has not had a new pastor in 15 years, and in that time people have forgotten that they don't get to choose their new pastor, the Bishop makes an appointment and basically you have to live with it. Add to that the fact that this introduction is strictly confidential, it's just me and the rest of the committee. I have to hope that none of these people will leak it to the rest of the congregation. I think the odds aren't good By the time I get home for dinner, it's going to be 9:30 or 10pm. I have a lovely piece of salmon and rice waiting for me, I just have to tough it out. I packed a ton of veggies and fruit today, so hopefully I can grab a little something while we're driving to the church meeting to tide me over. And I have to hope that eating that late, I can drag myself up in the morning for my workout.

Thursday, Feb. 17th -- Ok, so I survived yesterday ok, but it was a long one. The presentation at ds's school was actually good, they have a choice of modern foreign language -- Spanish, French, Italian, German or Chinese. They have to stick with it for 4 yrs, so they'd better choose well If they are not in band/orchestra or chorus, they are automatically in Theater. This will be popular with my ds, who is in the Improv Club and loves it! He's decided on French after having it as his first choice and then switching to Italian when he found out there was a foreign exchange program (he thought he'd like the food better), we convinced him he should study the language he really wanted and worry about the food later :rolleyes1

The meeting at church was fine -- I like the new pastor, but there are some people who are going to have issues with her. Theological issues -- which I think is not necessarily awful, it's good to hear different points of view and be able to think your way to your own opinion -- or at least that's my opinion...I didn't get home until 10pm, and by that time the ability to eat a full meal was beyond me. I had some popchips and a couple of Godiva squares, and called it a day. All within my points for the day, by the way!

To my surprise, after going to be at 11pm, I actually did wake up at 5! I got up and did 3M on the TM, and here I am...guess I'll have to get to my work soon :headache:

I had my usual breakfast, and I'm having the salmon and rice for lunch. I'm having mac and cheese (a WW recipe) for dinner, and then I'll finish up with a serving of bbq popchips and a WW dark chocolate/raspberry ice cream treat while I watch The Big Bang Theory (it's a habit, but not a really bad one...). OP all day in my quest for that loss!

Friday February 18th -- I ran 10M this morning, my last LR before the race. It feels so good to have that done! Now I can relax and enjoy my taper. I seem to be running about 2 minutes overall faster than in January, so we'll see if that bears out when I run the race, or I'm too busy enjoying the costumes and scenery! ;)

My eating plan today includes my normal breakfast, a turkey sandwich on Arnold thin and veggies for lunch, grapes and babybel for afternoon snack, and a WW deli pasta meal for dinner, followed by Popchips and the ever popular dark chocolate/raspberry ice cream treat. My real treat tonight, I'm way behind on the Tivo so I'm going to watch this week's Castle and Hawaii 5-0. Can you tell I'm no longer 25?! This is what happens when you fall asleep at 9pm :rotfl:

DH is running 16M tomorrow, and then we're going to take ds shopping for clothes. I've already made it clear that dh is taking him while I shop for me. I really don't need much, but I am hoping to find a new pair of dark wash jeans. Maybe in a smaller size...:yay:

Monday February 21 -- I got up and ran 4M this morning, which felt great. I was really pleased with my time, finishing in under 45 minutes. My BL weigh in last week is good, so I have that so far...tonight I have my WW weigh in, where I'm really hoping to break 10 lbs. The scale looks good so far, as long as nothing scary like pms weight appears (which would figure :rolleyes1 ).

I broke my own rule and bought a new sports bra for the race. I don't usually bother with much support (like my dear WISH friend Debra, I have preschoolers rather than girls), but I found this bra with gel in the shoulder straps, and decided to give it a try. I ran with it this morning, and it was awesome! I have a new addition for the race! I will also be liberally using my bodyglide to make sure I'm ok with this new piece of equipment, but I think the road test went well.

And finally, Today! -- Actually, I should start with last night's weigh in....drumroll please...I was down 2.8, for a total of 12.2 in 5 weeks! :woohoo: So very, very pleased to have made it past 10 lbs! Today I didn't run when I got up because it's yoga day! I need to do some "finding" tonight, the first stage in my packing. Oh! And I did find black and dark wash blue jeans, and I'm counting it as a smaller size because I was able to leave that "W" behind :dance3: We drove the route of the Boston Marathon Sunday afternoon. That is a long, curvy, hilly course. I'll stick with flat and fun at Disney -- but I'm proud to say I know a finisher -- that's you, Cindy! :goodvibes

Now I guess I'd better do a little work and get changed for downward dog...

Maria :upsidedow

Good morning ladies. Did everyone have a good weekend?

Maria: There are so many great things in your post, but I'll focus on the 2 best right now: Down 12.2 and new, smaller jeans!!!!!!
Your son's school curriculum sounds VERY serious. My son is barely scraping by 5th grade and we're struggling. Next year is the first year of middle school and I can see him going down in flames. It's all about lack of organization for him! :lmao:
I hope you have an amazing time on your trip. There is every possibility of a PR in this race. :thumbsup2

Vicky: You should do boxing or kickboxing. You would be amazing at it! Really! I think that would be super fun. Of course, you are right that getting hit or beat up would stink, so you'll just have to get good fast!
Inception was amazing! Of course, my wonderful husband found so many issues with it. But, he kept his opinion until it was over, so he didn't ruin my enjoyment. I went online afterward and checked out all the websites devoted to the movie. It's interesting to read other people's views of the ending. I am an optimist, so I'm going to believe that everything ended the way it should have (don't want to give it away to others). My husband believes the opposite. But, then, he's a pessimist. ;)
I have the rest of them on hold at Netflix for as soon as they come out. I only have 3 left, but they aren't out on video, so I'll have to see them later. Winter's Bone is my favorite so far, out of the one's I've seen.

Kim: I love doing fun things that also get some exercise in! Sounds like it was a very productive weekend, and now, you're ready! :thumbsup2

Jackie: Sounds like a great trip. What I wouldn't give right now to be on a beach getting a little bit of a burn! Yes, your daughter is lucky. It probably won't always be that way for her, but it's nice that she can get away with the lack of training right now. Of course, we're all just jealous! ;) I'm sorry you're hurting so glad, but great job with all that walking. Just remind yourself to take it easy!

Cindy: Welcome back! What a big life change. I don't know how we're all going to cope once I'm at school full time and then, at work. The control will be my issue as well. I let my husband cook breakfast the other day and then, clean the kitchen the way he wanted. I had to go back in and clean it again and I was not happy at all about his breakfast choice (biscuits and gravy and bacon)! But, soon I will be too busy to worry much. ;) I don't think you'll need to worry too much about Boston. You could probably run it today, if you lowered your expectations a bit! :thumbsup2

AFM: I will see what I can come up with for a challenge, since everyone seems to be up for it. I'll let you guys know by the end of this week, and we can start on March 1st.

Today is day 1 for Frank's new diet. I cleaned out the fridge and the cabinets, and we only have healthy food and his frozen meals. We all weighed in officially this morning, and I wasn't happy with any of our weights, especially mine. I'm eating my last can of tuna because no one else will, then I'm going full vegetarian. My stomach is killing me today because we ate so much junk food last night trying to get it out of the house.:rotfl: Frank is, afterall, Scottish!

I am trying to get outside today for a run, but everything seems to be getting in my way today. I just want to get 4 miles in, so we'll see.

Have a wonderful day, ladies!

Hey Leanies!

Sorry to be gone again....coping with my back is trying at times.....I am scheduled for an MRI on Thursday. I have returned to work, because I am not sure what will happen with my back later. The pain is controlled with Advil, but I still have numbness in my foot. I had to repeat the steroid pack, so I have been fighting the munchies for 2 weeks! It's been really hard to control the eating with the steroids, but I did manage to get a 1.0 weight loss last week! I am hoping for a repeat of that this week.

I have gone to the gym, doing the elliptical and ARC trainer to keep the impact low. Doesn't seem to make things worse, so I will go with it for now. I miss my treadmill alot........running is my favorite!

All the Leanies going to the princess.....GOOD LUCK! Have fun and enjoy the experience!

Beth

Wow......so many new posts and so much good news from so many meanies.

Cindy: welcome back......so good to hear from you and I am thrilled you are running Boston again. :worship:

Vicky: 100 push-ups at one time......push-ups not sit-ups, right? OMG, I can't even begin to imagine!:worship::worship: you go, girl!

Tandy: wow, boot camp sounds brutal and you have been a workout machine! Hopefully, the pounds will follow. I know how frustrating that can be. And yes, I am ready for another lean meaner challenge.

Kim: good to hear from you.....are you also doing the Princess this year?

Jackie: yay!!!!!! So happy to hear you guys are in for Williamsburg. Sounds like your weekend was a good one, but please don't overdo the physical exertion....you're still on the mend.

Maria: wow....so much good news from you. Four miles in under 45 minutes is just amazing. And congrats on the weight loss and new skinny size jeans! :cool1::cool1:

Beth: how are you feeling, our fearless leader? Any relief from the back pain?

Deb: have an awesome time at WDW and a great race.
