Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

This is my first time getting on the computer today, but yes,
I'm still in One-derland!
The dinner I was supposed to go to last night got cancelled because the host got sick, so I didn't have to battle any demons. Now I have TWO parties this weekend, so I will have to be very strong. The one on Saturday night will have homemade Irish cream, which is just loaded with calories. I'm allowing myself one small glass and going to try to make it last as long as possible!

That's it for now....it's been one of those whirlwind days.

Good Morning, Lean Ones!

I am floating on air today -- yesterday afternoon we found out ds has been accepted to Boston Latin School. This is a huge accomplishment for him and us, and we are beyond thrilled! It's been a 9-month process between tutoring classes (the material on the test is stuff they've never seen before), the ISEE test, proving residency and him maintaining an A+ average...it's been constantly on our minds, and now we can relax! I also don't have to worry about high school now, since it's 7-12. We just have to keep him there, I believe this year only about 40% of the kids who started 6 years ago graduated...but over 95% of them have free tuition scholarships to UMass state schools, and most won't accept them because they have free rides to even better universities! :woohoo:

I did hang in there and do shorter workouts after work Wednesday and Thursday, and I'm going to do yoga when I get home today. My eating has not been anything to write home about. I'm having a fresh start this weekend, unfortunately I really need one. On the bright side, my smaller pants still fit! :rotfl2:

Jeanne -- I am so proud of you! It is an incredible accomplishment, and you have worked hard for it! Onderland suits you! :yay:

Manda -- Sometimes life just takes over, and before you know it you have stopped. My best advice is to not try to do too much too soon, but also to try to move a little each day. You will get to the point where you don't feel "right" if you don't move after a certain period of time. For me it's now down to two days -- and then I just can't stand not to do something. :thumbsup2

Tandy -- I won't argue with you about the corned beef -- I just don't like it or cabbage! We are not going vegetarian, but we are making a concerted effort to eat less red meat. We're trying to do fish two nights a week and limit the red meat to one. It doesn't bother me, but it's hard for dh. He doesn't think he ate unless there was meat involved. So, how are you doing without the soda? I know your stomach is better, but how are you doing mentally? It's a hard shift to make!

Beth -- How do you feel after that massage? I hope better! :goodvibes I agree about sleeping better with dh around...I hope yours returns soon!

Jackie -- How are you doing with people bringing in food to work? I hope there hasn't been much of it this week! popcorn::

Cindy -- I have to confess Lent has been very off/on for me this year. One week I totally stick to it, another I completely blow it. I'm due for a "stick to it" next week! :cutie:

Kim -- Are you still hangin' in with us? I know you can do it! :cheer2:

Shout outs to Debra, Wendy, hey -- Corinna, come on back! -- I know you guys are busy, just check in every once in awhile! We love to "see" your smiling faces! :grouphug:

Wishing everyone a fantabulous weekend!

Maria :upsidedow

Happy Friday everyone!

Maria: Congratulations on your son getting in! :woohoo: How wonderful! It sounds like a fabulous school! I'm sure you'll get back on track with your eating soon. You've come so far and are pretty strict with yourself. As far as my soda, I am not doing well mentally, but oh well. It's really hard to give up the one food item that gets you through the day. And, I'm sorry, but water is so boring! I still have my 2 cups of coffee in the morning, but I have started having headaches in the afternoon and I'm guessing it's due to the loss of caffeine. Thanks for the encouragement!:)

Jeanne: Great job! :woohoo:You are doing great!

Manda: Glad to see you back. It's hard to get going again, but I know you can do it! Just one day at a time and, I agree, don't do too much!

AFM: Another day soda free! I woke up feeling great!
My eating still stinks. :guilty:
I am running 12 tomorrow and feeling excited about it! What is wrong with me? :rotfl:

Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Tandy

Happy Friday ladies!

Maria - Congrats to you and DS! That sounds like an impressive accomplishment! Is the school close to your house?

Jeannie - That's fantastic news about Onederland!! Good luck and have fun at your parties this weekend!

Cindy - WTG with the 0.8 lb loss!! Have you heard anything about your test results yet? I have the same issues with sweets right now - it seems like everyone in the office has a jar of chocolate eggs or jelly beans out. Yikes! We need a fun holiday without sweets :)

Beth - I laughed when I read about the honking cars! I think it's because you're one of the most supportive people here and I just can't picture you getting mad at anyone. I had a period last year where it was aches and pains all the time. I found it was from not getting enough sleep but I think you have a better schedule than I do. Did the massage help at all?

Manda - Glad to see you back! Great news that you got DH to go on the 5K with you. I spaced out on that one and thought it was this weekend instead of last.

Tandy - I love corned beef but yuck! Didn't the person making the sandwich notice that? Yeah, the full is something I want to try at least once. I really love the length of the half and it's something that doesn't take too much time to train for.

AFM - So glad the weekend is here even if the weather is a little cooler. I'm trying to decide between picking up the 15K I missed last weekend or doing the 10K that's on my training plan. I'm leaning towards the 15K because I want to give the hills one more try before the race next weekend. The thing is, I have a hair appointment in the morning so if I do the 15K, I'll have to get out pretty early.

Went to the gym last night for 1/2 hr training session and did a 5 miler in the morning. On Wednesday, I did some hill repeats and those went pretty well. It was a 0.25 mile hill and my fastest was 2:24 mins. A huge improvement over a couple weeks ago when I was going up at 3:00+. Gotta love the feeling of flying down the hill too! If only I could run that fast on flat surfaces :)

Have a great weekend everyone! :wave2:

Hey Lean Ones!

It is late for me to be here.....soon on the way to bed! My race is in the morning (way to early!)

I still have some aches and pains.....but I felt pretty good after the massage. I am hoping for a fairly good race tomorrow, but have put aside hopes of a PR. I am just not there physically or mentally. I am ok with that....DC will be a scenic race!

Jeanne: Onederland is for you! Congrats! It's been a ride to get there, but I think you are here to stay!

Vicky: I am usually pretty good for getting sleep, but I do miss some getting up so early. I probably could do better. Yeah, I get a bit 'out of control' when I get angry.......that has come with age. I never was like that before I turned 40!

Maria: Congrats to you and ds! What a wonderful accomplishment. I know how hard he must have worked for that honor, and it sure is nice for his future!

I will try to get on the computer tomorrow to till you all how it goes! Send me some good wishes!

Beth

Beth - Lots of good wishes coming your way, even though your race is over by now!

Maria - Interesting that you would ask about people bringing in food at work. On Wednesday one of my coworkers and I were both craving chocolate (the snack machine was out of Snickers and I even made a trip out just to buy one. Couldn't buy the regular size. That would have been too easy. Bought the king size, which now comes in 2 convenient smaller pieces, so I only ate one. Then stared at the other one until I ate it too. Promptly felt horrible!) So she went home that night and made her awesome brownies and brought them to work on Thursday. I ate six. Went home that afternoon with a migraine, which I suspect may have been brought on by an overdose of chocolate. :rolleyes1

Tandy
- Usually when I do a lot of food prep at once it consists more of cutting up fruit and things to make breakfast easier, so I'm more likely to eat that at home and eat healthy instead of grabbing something fast food. I also at least try to get everything bought at one time for the week so I feel like I have to cook the healthy stuff instead of throwing it away at the end of the week. I completely understand about being excited about running 12. The first year I ran with our group I would be so excited on Friday about running new distances on Saturday. Now it's not so much excitement, but I do tend to obsess on Friday about what I'm eating and drinking. I suspect my coworkers would be happier if I'd stop running!

My eating has really not been that bad this week, chocolate not included. I stuck to the menus I had planned with the exception of one night, and that was last night when we went to the expo and then went out for pasta afterward since we were on the other side of town. I did have WAY too much chocolate, and it's not even TOM week.

Exercise, on the other hand, ugh. I ran Monday night, and that was the end of it. Probably not the best training plan for the race this weekend. I know there's such a thing as taper, but this was a little extreme. I tried to justify it as rehabbing the injured calf, but since it didn't hurt last weekend I'm not exactly sure I needed to continue resting it...

I wasn't going to shoot for any particular time goal tomorrow, and then I got an email from one of our group leaders that he's going to try to pace a group to a 2:25, so I'm going to be bold and at least start the race with him. That's a little aggressive for me, but I figure I'll shoot high and see where I land! Not a recommended race strategy either, but what the heck. And while I'm being reckless, another member of our group is looking for people to run a half next weekend in Raleigh with him, and anyone who was registered for Myrtle Beach gets a discount, so DH and I are throwing around the idea of doing back-to-back weekends.

Someone save me from myself!

Jackie

Hi Lean Ladies.

I ran my 12 today and felt amazing! I am SO ready for this half. Only 3 weeks to go! :thumbsup2

Jackie: I can't be the one to save you because I think it's a wonderful idea to do the back to back races! Go for it. Can you walk the 2nd one if you are feeling bad? If so, then why not? And, i hear you about the coworkers. I dont work, but my family and friends are getting so sick of me obsessing over every little thing. Who knew that running would take over everything? :lmao:

Beth: How did you do? I'll bet you were able to surprise yourself with your time. Hope to hear soon!:)

Vicky: How was the run today? Did you go for the 15K? The corned beef was actually a whole brisket and it was so fatty in the package that I didn't see all the lovely veins until I was cutting the fat off. I'm still grossed out by it.

AFM: I had a bad night eating last night. Hubby and I were supposed to go out dancing last night, but he works outside and it was cold and he had to work overtime for the last 3 days. So, he didn't want to go out. Instead we watched The Hurt Locker, which was fantastic by the way, and ate: fried chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes, fried okra and 2, yes 2 entire boxes of Little Debbies!:scared1: The fact that my run felt so good today is shocking! I'm just glad that I burned 1350 calories running the 12. ;)

Tandy

I'm figuring that between the 12 miles and the Little Debbies, you may be just about even! :lmao: This is why we run.

The only problem I have with the race next weekend (other than the $$$) is the course consists of a huge part of one of the routes we run on a regular basis during the Galloway season, and it's really, really, hilly. It's only a couple of miles of the route, but it's ugly. I have a problem paying them to run a route I run regularly and absolutely hate. BUT, I can finally join the Half Fanatics if I do it. BIG plus. I was all ready to do that, but when Myrtle Beach canceled it really screwed me up.

Jackie

So much for back to back posts... but I just had to come and say...

I DID IT! I made goal #2 for the year. I completed the half marathon today in 2:29:15!

Apparently shooting high was a good strategy after all. We started out with the 2:25 guy, but quickly determined that wasn't going to work, then decided that we had to stay ahead of the 2:30 pace group or we'd be playing leapfrog for the entire race because of our run/walk breaks. So we skipped a walk break, picked up the pace, and never looked back! At mile 13 we were over a minute ahead of pace, so we coasted to the finish line. It's done. I can run as many halfs as I want this year and not care about breaking that barrier. (Obviously, at some point I'll want to break the 2:29, but that mythical 2:30 is DONE!)

Jackie

Jackie: CONGRATULATIONS!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

What a fantastic accomplishment! Now, how are you feeling about doing the half next weekend?

Jackie: Congratulations on breaking 2:30. It's only March and you've already checked that off the list for the year. That's great. I guess your taper and fueling strategy worked. I'm not sure you should make Snickers bars a regular routine though. Good luck if you decide to run the other 1/2 next weekend.

Tandy: Yes I think you are ready for your half. Glad the 12 went well. So what kind of Little Debbie's? I love the Oatmeal Cream Pies. I could eat an entire box of those.

Beth: Looking forward to hearing about your race. I hope you enjoyed DC.

Vicky: Good job on your speedy hill workouts. It's good that you can work your run in around the hair appt. You need to look good for those race pictures.

Maria: Huge congrats to your son for getting in to Boston Latin. How wonderful for him. I have real problems some years sticking to my Lenten sacrifice, but so far this year it's been good. I have leftover brownies and apple pie in my house from a party last night, but so far I'm winning the battle. I cannot believe Easter is only 2 weeks away.

I ran a Half Marathon today. I really didn't think it was going to be a good day for racing since I was tired and my stomach was hurting. It was also hotter than I was expecting. The forecast was for partly cloudy and 50, it turned out to be completely sunny and 64. The first 2 miles were rough, but just after 2 there was a nice downhill which helped tremendously. I really had to work the entire way, I never felt completely comfortable, at one point I was asking myself why I run long races and maybe I need to stop signing up for them, but in the end I finished in 1:54:40 which is a PR by 5 seconds. I am so happy about it.

I hope I can relax for the rest of the day although I'm sure my kids will have a different idea.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hey guys! I am back home......and tired!

D.C. was a rough race. It was stated to be a fast loop, but that is untrue! The hills started about mile 5 and kept going! There were some downhills but more up than down. It was not the optimal course for a PR. I was really working to pace the first 5 miles, and then it just went downhill from 5 on. I was still pretty good at 6 miles, but knowing how hard I was working, I knew I had to give up 'the dream' of a PR. It was disappointing, but I was ok with it.

The course was not as scenic as I thought it would be. They had the course through some interesting areas, but mostly saw the Capital the most. Ran by the Washington Monument and the White House, but really couldn't see it very well. We ended up walking by again later in the day.

I went 10 minutes over what I wanted to do, with a 2:25 finish time. I wanted to get a 2:15. I might consider doing the Philly 1/2 in September to try again. My next 1/2 is the end of April, and I will not try to PR since my marathon is in June. I am running that for 'fun'!

Jackie: WTG! I am proud of you for starting off your running year with a BANG. :cool1:

Cindy: WTG to you too! Wow, you were smoking up the course. Great start to your year too! :cool1:

AFM: My plans now have changed a little. I am going to hold on the P90X for now. I might consider one workout with P90X a week, but I think it was too much on me with running/training for this half. I am going to really buckle down to lose 15 pounds for my marathon in June. The weight loss will help me the most right now. It's going to be hard running so much and eating less, but that is what needs done. My mind has to be there to eat less! I am going to just put miles in, and hold on the speed work. It didn't seem to help me for this run. i didn't do speed work for the last 3 halves, and I PR'ed each one of them. Maybe just concentrating on getting miles in is enough for me. I want to finish my marathon in decent form (was hoping for 5 hours, but now readjusting that to maybe 5:30) I know if I was doing the marathon Saturday, it wouldn't have gotten done. I was spent after the 1/2. My right leg was killing me, and had issues with my right foot. I am going to have to build my running muscles right now.

It was an experiment with a tough/high mileage training plan while attempting the P90X........a failed experiment which I don't plan on repeating! I am going to take up the P90X after my marathon in June. It's a great workout!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Beth

Cindy - Great job on your half today! Lots of PRs! It was a lot warmer here than we've been used to, and that made it rough. I knew I needed to hydrate more, but I was determined not to stop at the portapotties during the race, so after mile 9 I wouldn't drink anything else. DH and I went out to lunch after the race, and our waiter laughed at us cause every time he came to the table he brought the water pitcher!

Beth
- Sorry your race didn't give you a PR, but you've had such a string of them! And this course sounded really tough! I think your plans sound realistic for training for the full. DH and I have been doing track workouts, but we missed most of the last month. What seemed to help me the most today is that he's been running with our group on Saturdays and unintentionally pushing the pace. We usually end up splitting into two groups - those who can keep up with him and those who are dying. The girl who ran with me today and I have been consistently staying with him and doing our 10 mile runs while running the run intervals at a 10:40-11:00 pace. Today we were often 9:40-10:20, and both of us felt really good for the first 10 miles. The last 3 we had to pull from the reserves, and the final mile was a struggle for both of us, but it was actually our fastest! I guess where I'm going with all of this is that the pace of the long run may be the key to the whole thing. Don't know if it holds true for the marathon, but it certainly helped for the half distance!

Jeanne - A huge THANK YOU for being out there today! It was wonderful to see smiling faces on the course to cheer us on. My running buddy thought I'd lost my mind when I sprinted ahead to give you a hug. When I got back to her she asked "what in the world was that?"

My running buddy is looking at running the full in Chicago. Hmmmm....

Jackie

Hi Lean Ones!

I seem to have lost my way -- will you take me back? I'm not even sure how it happened, but I seem to have stopped working out, and I'm not even trying to count my points anymore...it's been a rough week, and if I thought it was an option, I'd quit. :rolleyes1 But, I just gave away all my bigger clothes and bought new smaller ones, so now I have no choice but to get my act together or go around nekkid! I feel like I need babysteps, someone to tell me today just do _____, tomorrow add_____, until I get it back together. Ridiculous, I know, but I seem to have that kind of mentality...

Beth -- Like you, I am in re-evaluation mode. I've been trying to get faster (I'm down to 11:19), but I end up feeling totally worn out, and like I can't move the next day. This year I really need to concentrate on losing weight. I'm thinking maybe I should stop trying to go faster (or even that fast), and then concentrate on either miles or length of workout -- am I better doing 4M in 45 minutes or 5M in 60, for weight loss purposes? I am so confused! :confused3 And I really need to figure this out. I don't have any races of length, so I'm really just trying to lose the weight. I know I need to eat less (gonna work on that this week), but I also need a new training plan. Work out less intense, more days or fewer workouts at higher intensity?

Cindy -- Congrats on the PR, that is awesome! :yay: It was a beautiful day, but not the best for a race. You did great!

Jackie -- And another PR! You guys totally rock! What a fantastic accomplishment! :dance3:

Tandy -- I have been to the food hall of shame, you are not alone  I can't even remember what I ate this weekend, but trust me, it was not good :sad2:

Vicky -- I love that you are now flying down that hill! :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone for all the congratulations for ds -- it's still pretty surreal for us, but I'm sure it will all sink in soon. :cloud9:

Everyone have a great night, and I'm taking any tips, advice, nudges, kicks in the pants, etc. -- whatever you are handing out I will take to get myself and my scale moving in the right direction!

Maria :upsidedow

Hey just popping in to say hi.....sorry just been really busy lately trying to find DD just the right prom dress...OMG!!! I had no idea there was that many boutiques in Toronto:scared1:

Hope everyone is doing great!!!

Good morning ladies!

Hockeychic: Totally understand. We all get too busy sometimes. Prom dress shopping sounds like a lot of fun. I only have a boy, so not as much fun!:)

Maria: Of course we will take you back! I'm sorry to hear about your week, but at least it's just one week. I think babysteps are good. I've fallen off the wagon more times than I care to admit. While trying to climb back out of the holes I make for myself, I just take it one day at a time. I also like your idea of trying to work out speed or distance and not doing both. I think going just a little slower and going 5 miles instead of 4 would be better calorie burning, but when I tried to figure it out for you, I got confused. 4mph for an hour is 324 calories (I just based it off 150 lbs). However, running at 5 mph for 45 minutes nets 432 calories burned. And, running at 5mph for an hour is 572 calories. I figured you were running about 5.3 or so mph, so I don't know. Now, I've just confused myself even more!:scared1:

Jackie: So, am I hearing a ? in that Chicago statement? I think it's be fun to try. Especially having a running partner.

Beth: I'm so sorry to hear that your half didn't go as well as you had hoped. I was sure you were going to have no problem. :hug:It's a good idea to cut out the P90X right now and concentrate on distance. If it's worked in the past, it'll work now.

Cindy: Congrats on the PR! That's a fantastic time. I'm hoping for a sub 1:50, but considering I've never actually been in a race situation, I don't know what to expect. And, yes, I love the Oatmeal Creams as well. I had one box of those and one box of Swiss Rolls.

AFM: I ran a short 4 miler yesterday and did it faster than I had intended.:thumbsup2 Today, I have to lift weights. I keep saying I'm going to start again and never accomplish it. I do not enjoy it, which is funny since I always wanted to be a body builder. I got brave this morning and got on the scale. :scared1:148 pounds and I'm shooting for under 140. So, 9 pounds and I've got to get serious. My mom is coming for a visit and I was hoping to be at goal weight when she came. I've got 4 weeks, so that won't be happening, but I'd like to get close. But, giving up my diet sodas has caused me to eat out of boredom again. Now that it's been over a week without sodas, I should be feeling a little bit in control, but I don't. I'm sure I'll get this figured out someday! :)

Have a great day everyone. Hope everyone stays on track or gets back on track today!:):):)

Maria: Oh, I am MORE than happy to give my advise!!!! :lovestruc ((((I am SO much better helping someone else.....harder for myself!)))))) Ok, I admire trying to go faster, but sometimes it is too big a price to pay! I think a daily 12 min mile for ???? miles is fine. What I suggest to you would be one day of intervels. Maybe on a lower mileage day? Intervels will push your speed, and it's only one day a week. I usually do it for 3 to 4 miles. I think that's enough for a speed workout. The rest of your miles do comfortably. Today, I ran 3 miles at 11:30 miles, and the last 2 bumped it up to 10:50 miles. The mornings are a hard time to really push it....then you have the rest of the day to be really worn out! Try intervals at like 4.7 for 2 minutes and then like 5.2 for 1 or 2 minutes. Does your treadmill do intervels pre-set?

You can even try a PRO run (progression of speed every mile) I usually do mine : 1st mile (5.3), 2nd mile (5.4), 3rd mile (5.5), 4th mile (5.6), last mile back down to 5.3. You can vary it up a bit, and it really does help the calorie burn.

For the diet part, you already know what to do. Get back to it. Journal what you eat, stay in your point range, and get rid of the snacks! Maybe vary your points daily too. Have the upper range with some floater points one day, and then cut back to the lower point range the next day. Sometimes that helps our body not feel like we are in starvation mode! It can jump start the weight loss.

AFM: It's hard getting back to eating normally!!!! When I fall off the wagon, the wagon is so far gone, I can't see it anymore! Yesterday was tough. I just wanted to nosh. I refrained, but it was a struggle! I am hoping today goes a little better!

I did take yesterday off......still had some nagging pains in the right leg and foot. I thought a day off was a good plan. Seems to have worked! My treadmill 5 miler today seem pretty effortless! Time went by fast.....as I was running slow! I am taking it easier this week, with no speed work. I will get back to some next week.

Beth

Maria - See it? Over there in the corner? Peeking around? That's it! That's the wagon. Go get it. And bring it back! That's all you have to do today. Tomorrow you have to get back on it. Baby steps. I was a disaster two weeks ago, bad last week, and was still pleasantly rewarded by a PR in the race and not so terrible news on the scale Monday morning. So you can recover! And you are amazing fast - my average pace for Sunday's race was 11:18, and it nearly killed me. Just ask my thighs today. It probably won't hurt to slow it down for a while and build some mileage. I like Beth's idea of doing intervals one day a week. Most plans call for one day of speed work anyway, so that fits nicely. Sometimes when I'm on the TM, I use the MP3 player and increase the speed with each song just to amuse myself.

Tandy - There's a big ??? in that Chicago statement. One, I still haven't convinced myself that I want to do a full this year. Of course, it's going to be hard to make the goal of doing a 5:30 full if I don't actually RUN a full, but that's another issue. Two, with the financial issues in our household, I don't want to be completely selfish and commit to the money that a Chicago trip will require. But it would certainly be a lot more fun to do a full if it were one of the big ones instead of a local one. Lots to consider! As for this weekend, both of my best running buddies are going to be out of town and will miss our regular Saturday run. So it ALMOST makes sense to pay to run the half and get a medal for my Saturday run... I'm waiting to make sure my legs feel like doing the miles, but we're planning to register/packet pickup tomorrow night, so time is running out! I'm hoping to run after work tonight and see how it goes.

Beth - I'm with you - no speed work this week after a half over the weekend. Especially if I'm crazy enough to do it again on Saturday! I do want to get back to it in preparation for the Indy half in May, although I have no idea what kind of time we'll do for that, since DD will be running her first. She's obviously faster than I am, but so far hasn't run more than 3 miles, so I'm curious to see if she can hold out for 13.1.

I did relatively okay on refraining from noshing yesterday, except for the one stupid Snickers bar that found its way onto my desk (at least this time it was the regular size one, not the king-size one.) I did do my workout with weights and core exercises, so I felt good about that.

DH has to coach his boys' soccer team tonight (hooray - my one night of alone time!), and I'm hoping to get a run in after work to test the legs and ask them how they feel about doing another race this weekend. If I choose to do it, please remind me later this week that I absolutely MUST take it easy. No dreams of PRs, just an easy run through downtown with a couple of really, really nasty hills thrown in for training purposes.

Jackie

Hello Lovely Lean Ones!

I am taking all of the good advice. :thanks: I think I knew in my heart I needed to focus on more miles, but I got "itchy" to be faster...

Today I had a cranberry vitamuffintop and fruit cup for breakfast (3 pts), and I felt full enough. I had yoga at lunchtime, which really felt great. I had 9 pts for lunch -- lean cuisine, yogurt, peppers, grape tomatoes and Veggie chips. I still have grapes and a babybel for a snack later. We're having chicken/ziti/broccoli for dinner, which I will measure. I'm drinking a giant 32 oz. mug of brewed tea today, and I'll have another 32 oz of citrus water tonight. I'm going to run for half an hour tonight, just to get back to moving. Tomorrow morning I plan to get back to an hour of incline walking, which will be 4-4.5 miles.

So, here's another question -- how many miles do I need to try to log per week (running/incline walking) to lose weight? I'm starting to think I'm not doing enough. Here is what I was doing:

Sun -- 4M incline walking
Mon -- 4M running
Tues -- 60 min yoga
Wed -- 4M incline walking
Thurs -- 5M running
Fri -- 40 min yoga
Sat -- 6M running

That's a total of 23 miles a week, it's really usually closer to 25, because I have a cooldown that's almost half a mile most days...I know Beth does 40 miles a week. While I know I'm not there yet, I'm wondering if I should try to be doing more to see real weight loss. I have never done intervals, I'm not even sure how to start? :confused3 Oh, wait, I think Beth told me...

Instead of doing X miles, should I be doing time? Of course, at 12 min miles that's 60 minutes for 5 miles...I was going to try for 1.5 hrs a day -- but I can't get that all in during the morning. Does it do any good to run for half an hour? I could do an hour in the morning and another half in the evening, well, I could try that. I'm not the world's best doubledipper, but I can't get up any earlier than 4:30!

Jackie -- I think I see the wagon, just around the riverbend! I've got it Beth, now we can both just jump on! I believe I see a few lovely lean ones holding their hands down to pull us up. :grouphug: I love the nights of alone-time! They are few, but treasured! Enjoy your time just for you! Tonight ds has gymnastics, and dh will take him, so I really can go home and get on the TM without changing anyone's schedule, so that's an opportunity :thumbsup2

Beth-- My treadmill does not do preset intervals, at least not that I know of :rotfl: Ok, so I do 4.7 for 2 min, then 5.2 for 2 min for 3-4 miles. Is that what interval training means? I am going to have to pay way more attention! :goodvibes Should I sub this in for my Monday 4M run?

Tandy -- How did the weight lifting go? It's hard to make yourself do something new, even when you know you want to do it! :flower3:

Kim -- Ok, I'll admit I am pleased I will never have to go prom dress shopping! I know the tux will be much easier ;) I hope she finds the perfect dress, and it is the perfect price!

Cindy, Vicky, Jeanne, Debra, Corinna, Manda Hey beautiful ones! I hope this week is off to a good start for you! :dance3:
