Working on Weight Loss and getting Lean!

Good morning Lean Ladies! Yes, another Tuesday on Tap! How about a question of the day today?

Question of the Day:What time of day do you normally exercise? Do you find a difference in the time of day, to the effort you put into exercise?

My answer: 3 days a week I get up at 5:00 am to run. I am usually running 5 to 6 miles a day. The other days of the week, it's hit or miss what time I get my run in. I do find the morning hours a little tougher to get it done, but it helps me the rest of the day to feel a little more energized! I love having the rest of the day, knowing that my run is done!

Whey Protein question: Yes, I use whey protein the mornings I get up and run early. I usually have a 1/2 cup of juice before I run, then I make a strawberry smoothie with whey protein after my run. The scoop I use is only 50 calories, so my whole smoothie is only about 150 calories. It helps me eat a later breakfast (around 9:00 am) and not be starving. It's really important to replace the protein to help recovery, but I only use it for over an hour of exercise. If I run less than an hour, I don't usually have one.

Maria: Keep up the great efforts.....is now paying off!

Jeanne: Good luck with all the wedding planning! And, you will look fabulous in the dress! (We want pictures when it's over!)

Hockeychic: I am sorry that you are struggling with weight loss right now....but things will turn around soon enough!

Rubato/Cindy: How are your stomach issues? Hopefully things have calmed down for you both!

Debra: We miss you. Come back soon!

AFM: I am back on my morning schedule. I made myself run a little faster today....I have been slacking on my pace a bit. Felt like a huge effort, but it got done!

I am trying to eat a little less this week.....maybe lose a couple of pounds by the weekend???? Yeah....right!

Beth

It varies, my workout time, my exercise tapes or strenght training I do in the mornings. Just so that is it done and it reminds me not to make bad lunch choices or I got up early to work out for nothing.

My walking I do at night with DH as he leaves for work before i even get up in the morning so we do it as soon as I get home then have dinner.

WTG on the run this morning Beth!!!!

Kim

Morning lean ladies! Mind if I tip toe back in... Sorry I haven't been around lately. Sometimes life just seems to take over - so I've been working through a few personal issues and keep myself busy with work and other things. The eating has been so-so - haven't lost anything but haven't gained either. That sugar has a way of creeping into my eating.

I'm still running and getting in my weekly training sessions. I did a max deadlift last Thursday of 140 lbs so my PT has upped several of the other weights I do. My 30K is at the end of the month - not going for time on that one since it's my first attempt at that distance... so we'll see.

Beth - Ideally, I would love to do a gym workout somewhere in between 11AM-1PM but until I win the lottery and can quit my job ... :rotfl: I usually get to the gym in the evening after work and try and run in the mornings. I tend to have better pace in evening but have a much harder time motivating my self to get out the door then. Good luck with your 1/2 this weekend! I can't wait to hear about it :)

Kim - Yeah I wish it was Friday too! We need a holiday in March... or better yet March break for adults ;)

Angie - In the summer, I use protein powder to make a shake after a LR of more than 9 miles. I put in mangos, blueberries, three scoops of protein powder, a container of Greek yogurt and a little bit of milk and water. Anything shorter than 9, and I'll just drink a carton of chocolate milk. In the winter, I'll mix in a scoop of protein powder to the chocolate milk and warm it up. I find it too cold for smoothies. The protein I use is whey isolate - I think it's a slightly more broken down form of protein but I forget.

Rubato - I wonder if the acid in the diet Pibb might be irritating your stomach as well. Hope you feel better soon :) I'm also slower outside than on the TM. I think on the TM, I just want to get it done and get off! But you're right, outside there's wind, hills, no moving conveyor belt :roftl: Good luck with your LR Saturday! How far are you going?

Jeannie - Congrats on the 8 pound loss so far! Definitely not easy with wedding planning stress. Especially since you've got 2 practically back to back?

Maria - Your post about incline walking reminds me that I have to work on my hill training. I always seem to put that off. Your ark comment made me laugh!! I'm guessing your area got hit with heavy rains on the weekend too?

Debra - How are you doing? Are you still at WDW? Watched Alice in Wonderland and Shutter Island recently - loved Alice was so so on Shutter Island.

Jackie - I always try and plan my routes so there's a bathroom or two somewhere along my route. I'm glad you don't have a stress fracture. I've heard those can be nasty. I'll add my tight pinchy piriformis/hips to the list of leanies who are having leg problems.

Cindy - WTG on the loss!! I don't think I could have resisted dessert on a trip - good for you! Any news on all the testing they've done so far?

Well, that's all for now! I'll check back in later! :wave2:

Guess what, ladies.......I got a tiny glimpse of One-derland this morning (199.7).

If I'm still there tomorrow, I'll use regular font.
If I can do it 3 days in a row, it gets bold! Thursday will be a tough one.....I am going to a St Patty's Day celebration the evening before. Gotta hang in there.

Wow! After days of being slow, the thread took off yesterday!

Maria - YOU CAN DO THIS! You have worked SO hard to get where you are, and it's finally paying off. Keep up the good work! I'm so proud of you for sticking with the workouts, and continuing to make good choices.

Kim - Welcome back! Congratulations on Goofy #2. I don't think I'll ever do it again, but who knows? My mistake was trying for a PR in the full, which I knew wasn't a smart decision but I did it anyway. I'm just glad I have one Goofy medal for the collection.

Beth
- I'm racing this weekend too and have very similar feelings. I was so ready for Myrtle Beach and am certain I could have gotten my 2:30 there. I'm not at all confident about this race. I think I'm just going to run comfortably and let what happens, happen. I'm excited that there will be several WISHers there - we're having dinner Saturday night, so this will be more about the friends than the time.

As for the question of the day, I used to prefer the morning, but lately I've gotten more comfortable with afternoon runs, at least for speedwork and tempo runs. My long runs are still early AM with my group, but it takes me a while to warm up and get really into the groove. And I've only recently realized that when I'm doing weights and core work that I can do more in the evening than I can in the morning.

Jeanne - CONGRATULATIONS! I'm not waiting to see it in regular font, or even bold! :woohoo: :dance3: :yay:
You're right - you probably wouldn't want to make this diet a long-term thing, but it's okay to do it for a specific goal, like the wedding! And this would not be the year to attempt Goofy! Maybe a fall race?

Rubato - Outside runs add the hills, the wind, and a change in surface. Sometimes it can help your time, and sometimes it can hurt. As hard as I've struggled to run nonstop outside, I've always been able to run for 3 miles on the TM without a break. And yet, I can run faster paces outside than I can on the TM. :confused3

Vicky - Way to go on the deadlift!

Ran 3 miles last night with DH. We thought maybe we'd run straight through, but since we had no warmup, I started feeling a little sore a few minutes in and he suggested we try R6/W1. I actually managed to do that until the last quarter mile when we dropped back to R3/W1 (which is my usual interval). Not bad after taking a week off, I thought! It's amazing how much better my legs feel today than they did yesterday - my body must actually need to run, since they hurt more when I'm not running than when I am. I did weights and core exercises Sunday night, and plan to do another round tonight while DH is at soccer practice.

And on the not quite good but not as bad... DH brought me a latte from Dunkin Donuts this morning - instead of my usual packed-with-calories caramel swirl latte, he made it with skim milk and splenda, and I can't tell the difference!

Jackie

Maybe a fall race?

Oh Jackie, I AM doing a fall race. There will be 10 of us doing the Wine & Dine as relay teams. It's supposed to be fun and not competitive, but I know my family and each one of us has a secret agenda! As the slowest person, John gets paired with my daughter, the sub-4hr marathoner; I'm the next slowest so I get Jason who did his marathon in about 4:30. We have a few wildcards in the mix. My older daughter's BF is very fast, but has never done a long event. He'll be doing the 8-mile leg, so it's anybody's guess how that will go. And then we have the Greek......he is VERY competitive, but not too fast and I doubt he has much time to train this year. I'm trying to think of what the stakes should be....anyone have any suggestions? It can't be anything financial because that would be a hardship to certain individuals, so it's all gotta be about bragging rights.

Good Morning, Lean Ladies!

Last night did not go well foodwise -- and then TOM started with a veangance, so at least I know why I was having trouble. At least I was eating too much of healthy items, but I should have just stopped! I should do much better the rest of the week. I have yoga at noon, and I always feel better and more in control after that. I had my oatmeal and cantaloupe for breakfast, and I have my healthy lunch with me, and baked chicken for dinner, so I guess I'm already doing better!

Jackie -- You speed demon you! I am so glad it feels good for you to run! It is awesome that your body has come to expect it. :thumbsup2

Jeanne -- You can do this, Momma! You are going to just keep going down. We are both going to be very careful the rest of this week, and own these new weights, we earned them! :goodvibes I can't wait to see you in those MIB and MIG dresses, you are going to be smokin'!

Vicky -- It was the monsoon that wouldn't end -- 3 days of non-stop driving rain and wind. Total misery. I'm sure many people ate more than they meant to, it was pretty depressing, and you certainly didn't go outside unless you had to. Ridiculous amounts of flooding everywhere -- just a mess! I'm glad to see you are keeping up with everything, and what a deadlift! :yay:

Kim -- I think it's great that you walk with dh! Nice to have a workout buddy, and even nicer to have an evening activity together.

Beth -- Good luck with eating a little less. It's hard to do when you are training as hard as you do, but I know you are itching to get rid of those lbs! :flower3:

Pungodingy -- I'm sorry I can't help you -- I'm a chocolate milk girl, myself... :drinking1

Rubato -- I have almost eliminated soda from my diet (I have 1 diet root beer, if anything, a week), and I can see the difference in my bloat -- it really does help me. It also helps with the sugar cravings. Trust me, I eat plenty of splenda (I know, I know), but for some reason the soda sweetener really makes me more hungry, which of course ends up causing pain in one way or another...I do feel much more in control when I eat real food, but I feel your pain, it's hard to do, especially on the weekends! :rolleyes1

Question of the Day:What time of day do you normally exercise? Do you find a difference in the time of day, to the effort you put into exercise?

I try to exercise as soon as I get up (and I get up at 4:30 during the week so I have time in the morning), unless I'm doing yoga. I run 4M Monday and 5M Thursday, incline walking for an hour Sunday and Wednesday 4.5M, and do yoga Tuesday and Friday. I tried running 5M on Tuesday, too, but I've found it is actually detrimental to the rest of my workout week. Saturdays I run 6M. If I miss my AM workout, I'll try to do it in the evening, but usually cut it back to 3M. I'm just too tired after work... I definitely have a better effort in the morning!

Maria :upsidedow

Nice to see everyone dropping by today, and thanks to everyone answering today's question! I am interested in the responses!

Keep them coming!

Beth

Goodness, I'm gone for half a day and look at all the activity!

For the question of the day: I like to run between 10 and 2. There are fewer cars on the road where I run and I can't stand to have men stare and honk when I run. I'm a naturally well-endowed girl and they haven't made a sports bra yet that can handle a full run for me!;)
I walk with my dog and 2 of my friends at 6:00 every weekday morning. It's mostly for the dog. He can't run with me because he drives me crazy running forward and back to pee on everything.

Beth: I'm glad you got your run in this morning. Wow, over 40 miles a week! I bow down to you! Hopefully, you can have success with those pounds.

Maria: Sorry you had a bad night eating. It sounds like you're already back on track today though. :thumbsup2

Jeanne:  You're there girl! Good job. I'll be expecting bold font soon!

Jackie: I guess you're stuck being a runner now, huh? I, too, never would have believed that I feel better running than not, but I do. The latte doesn't sound bad at all. I rarely get them, but when I do, I just get skim milk and no sweetener. I used to have to have all the creamy, sweet stuff, but I have adapted.

Vicky: Sounds like you've been doing great with the workouts. I haven't done something like a deadlift in forever, but 140lbs sounds awfully impressive!:thumbsup2 30K sounds like a great challenge. I haven't looked at anything past a half marathon yet. My Saturday run is going to be 12 miles. Yikes! But, at least now I know I'm ready for this race.

AFM: I'm still staying off the soda. I did an experiment last night and ate a bunch of junk, but had no soda all day. My stomach wasn't as bad this morning as it usually is. I have a feeling my hubby has been right all along. Since you are all backing him up, he must be!:lmao:

I went to zumba last night for the first time in 3 weeks. I had so much fun! It's my favorite thing that I do for me. I wish I could justify going twice a week every week, but I just can't. No run today, but a 6 miler tomorrow.

Have a good one everybody!

Hey everyone!!!!!!!

WAHOOOOO JEANNE!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

Sounds like everyone is doing great!!!!!

Good morning Lean Ladies! How is everyone doing? My, it was a busy day on this thread yesterday! I am glad to 'see' everyone!

Question of the Day:What food have you discovered in your healthy lifestyle that you are suprised you actually like/love???

My answer: Cottage cheese with fruit. I never thought I would like cottage cheese (diet food) but I love it! I usually put pineapples with it, but use other fruit too. My go-to snack!

AFM: I didn't run this morning.....I had a crappy night's sleep, and wanted to do some intervels today. So I will attempt to run later.....I have so many aches and pains right now....I hate it!

Beth

Jeanne - I had completely forgotten about Wine & Dine. I knew you'd signed up to do it, but when I was thinking about the fall it never crossed my mind. I'd love to be there just to see all your teams!

Rubato - I more or less gave up soft drinks about 5 years ago when I started taking a drug for migraines that made them taste funny. Eventually the side effect faded, but I just never went back. Occasionally I'll have a Mountain Dew or a Coke, but it's more like once or twice a month now instead of once or twice a day! Unfortunately I substituted sweet tea for most of them, but I also increased the water consumption, so it hasn't been all bad.

Beth - This is a toughie for me. I'm still working on learning to like/love a lot of the foods I know I should eat more of. I haven't even tried cottage cheese, but I am trying a lot more fruits. I never ate apples before, and now I absolutely love them. Unfortunately, I much prefer the precut ones that you can keep in the fridge without turning brown, and they're much more expensive than just buying an apple and peeling it! I'm also working on various melons. I didn't care much for yogurt either, so that's moving up on my list as well, as much for the calcium as anything else.

I also slept poorly last night, so I'm trying to decide if I'm going to run this afternoon or take a nap instead and follow it up with weights. I did a few floor exercises last night right before bedtime just to say I did something - spent way too much time in the kitchen getting meals ready for the rest of the week, but it's done and now I have breakfast foods for the remainder of the week as well as dinner for tonight, and a freshly mopped kitchen.

Happy St. Patrick's Day! :shamrock:

Jackie

Good morning lean ladies!

Beth - Sorry to hear about the aches and pains! Some days I wish I could wear a giant suit filled with ice packs. Got any more massages scheduled?

To answer your question - I like spinach because I can use it in a lot of different dishes. I like using it in veggie quesadillas, korma or even just by itself in a salad. I've also started liking cottage cheese too. It's great way to get in some protein, except I throw jam in my so I can get some sugar in there. I also like ground chicken or turkey - didn't think I'd like it over ground beef but it's not too bad :)

Rubato - What is it with the honking cars and runners?? I'm doing the 30K to get ready for the full next January. I keep telling myself that it's only 5 miles or so longer than a half. But I have a feeling that those miles will feel like forever on race day. Hope your 6 miler goes well!

Maria - Your meal plan yesterday sounds yummy! I haven't had cantaloupe in forever. I think it's mostly a space thing and that I'd be the only person eating it. I didn't know that you get up at 4:30 AM! You must be in bed really early!!

Jeannie - Congrats on reaching Onederland!! I'm cheering for you now as well!! The Wine & Dine relay sounds like fun! Maybe you guys can make your own medals or t-shirts :)

Jackie - Have you tried the "skinny" lattes from Starbucks? I think they're about 90 calories for a tall. They're made with skim milk and sugar free syrup. Taste wise, they're not too bad but I've been drinking them for a while so I'm probably use to the lighter taste.

Okay, that's all for now! Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good Morning, Lean Brigade!

This is a long and stressful day for me at work, so I'm taking a little break ;)

I did eat on plan yesterday evening, but I didn't get up early today for incline walking. I was just beat -- Daylight Savings does a number on me, it takes me a week to feel normal. Plus, probably TMI, but TOM has me gushing like an oil well, and I'm just uncomfortable in general. I need all the sleep I can get. I'm planning to walk when I get home, it's nice it will still be daylight. I may go a little slower or set the incline a little lower, we'll see how I'm feeling.

Vicky -- I go to bed at 9:30 most nights. And even when I don't, I'm lucky to make it to 10 or 10:30...it's very sad, but with Tivo I don't mind. :happytv: My ds and I both love cantaloupe, and 1/4 is quite filling -- and only 1 WW pt.! :thumbsup2

Jackie -- You are going to be so happy you did all of that prep work! Everything is so much easier when you don't have to think about what you're going to eat, you just have to make it! A nap sounds heavenly, I am officially envious that is an option for you! :cloud9:

Beth -- I hope you feel better as the day goes on. I don't think I've ever asked you what type of nursing you do? My SMIL does geriatric nursing (she's been there so long that now she just goes out and visits people to determine what services they need, she doesn't really do "hands on"), and my SSIL works in the ER. DH has a friend who's a cardiac care nurse -- this guy doesn't eat vegetables and smokes like a chimney -- I find that very ironic... :rolleyes1

Kim -- Have you stopped smiling yet after Canada's Olympic Gold in Hockey? I didn't think so! :rotfl:

Rubato -- You made me laugh! My dh always says he tells me things about health/fitness but I won't believe him until I see it on the Internet -- and of course he is right! :rotfl2: I hope you continue to feel better without the soda. It is insidious and hard to let go...

Question of the Day:What food have you discovered in your healthy lifestyle that you are suprised you actually like/love???

Organic foods! It had never occurred to me to try them before, and I find the produce to be much tastier, and the yogurt more filling.

Ok, I have to get back to writing...I hope you're all wearin' the Greeen! :shamrock: (Ok, Canadians have an exception -- but the rest of you pirate: )

Personally, I'm actually celebrating Evacuation Day -- the day the British left Boston in the Revolutionary War. Hey, it's good enough to make it a paid holiday for dh, and no school for ds...

Maria :upsidedow

Hello Leaners.

Vicky: Way to go not gaining weight while dealing with life issues. Awesome on the 140 lb deadlift.

Jackie: Sorry for the poor night’s sleep. That’s so frustrating. You’ll probably feel better if you run rather than nap then get to bed earlier tonight to catch up. Good job getting all your meals prepped. That’s something that takes forever, but is so nice when it’s done. Does your DH coach or play soccer? Lots of luck in your race this weekend. Enjoy the time with your friends.

Beth: Sorry to you too for such a bad night’s sleep. I have them all too often myself. Sorry you are so achy. Are you tapering at all for your half? I’d hate for you to go into it feeling so sore, even if you’re not planning on PRing. Don’t cut too many calories out this week. You’ll need them for the race.

Rubato: When I went to the GI specialist she told me one of the leading causes of stomach issues was artificial sweeteners. I don’t use them so it’s not what’s bothering me, but I guess your DH is right. (Just don’t tell him.) Glad you enjoyed the Zumba. Take the honks as a complement. No one honks at me anymore, they did when I was in HS, but no more. Although on the occasion they do it does really make me mad. They should mind their own business and drive and leave me alone.

Maria: Hope the food is back on track. So annoying that TOM can have such an affect on your eating. I have to say it has never bothered me before the last several years. I guess I was lucky. Do you have today off from work? (Oh, we were posting at the same time. Sorry you have to work. I do too.)

Jeanne: Congrats on seeing one-derland. Hope you stay for a while. I love the idea of making a trophy or medal for the winning team. You can find a yearly race to do and pass it on from year to year.

Kim: Welcome back. Congrats on signing up for Goofy again. I’d do it again in a heartbeat – it was so much fun. Just can’t convince DH to spend the money.

Angie: I’m not an expert on whey protein, but as long as you are accounting for the calories in your daily count, you shouldn’t worry about putting weight on by using it. I have heard it’s a good source of protein if you don’t get enough in your regular diet.

AFM: I managed to lose another 0.8 lbs this week so 55% of the way thru chunk #1. I am struggling with the sweets cravings right now. The first 3 ½ weeks of Lent were relatively easy, I thought it would get easier as I went, but not so. Just 2 ½ weeks more. I am really going to try to be reasonable when I do start eating sweets again not to go overboard as I have done in the past. I’ll be tapering by then for my marathon and really don’t want to pack on the weight right before the race.

I still haven’t heard any results from my last test and I go for another test today. I had to drink a ½ liter of sickly sweet barium sulfate this morning and another one a little later today. I am feeling quite nauseous now, but cannot eat anything until after the test.

I am running a Half Marathon this weekend. It’s part of my training schedule, so I’m not really tapering. I ran 18 on Monday, I’ll try to do 9 today after my Dr. appt and some speedwork on Friday. I hope my legs won’t be too tired on Sunday.

My answers to QOTD #1: I like to run late morning. That way I can have a normal breakfast and not be too hungry to run. On my work days that I run I go at lunchtime and I have to be sure to have a late snack or I’ll just bag the workout because I’m too hungry. I am far too tired and too busy with family stuff to workout in the evening.

QOTD #2: I eat high fiber breakfast cereal now that I never did before. I never thought I liked cereal. I eat Nature’s Path Flax Plus Multibran. I really like it. I’ll add some blueberries or raisins and sometimes a little Trader Joe’s High Fiber Cereal which is like Fiber One without the Splenda.

Glad to see so many postings. Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

My second day in One-derland (199.3).....hey, it's nice here!

I gotta laugh. I saw something on one of the entertainment shows about Kirstie Allie and her ongoing weight battle. I think it was some scenes from her new reality series, but it showed her using the Wii fit. She didn't want to do the weigh-in part because she didn't want to hear a "bleeping" cartoon character telling her she was "bleeping, bleeping" fat! It made me chuckle because I have developed this relationship with my little Mii character. It saddens me that everyday that she looks so ashamed and just hangs her head when she tells me I'm obese! It may be ridiculous, but i'd like to see my Mii get a little happier! I have 0.4 more pounds to lose until I hit my first 10-lb goal. I'm looking forward to seeing her do some sort of happy dance. The things that motivate us.......

Add me to the list of those having trouble sleeping. I have been blaming my new Keurig coffee maker. Before I got it, I would have one cup of instant every morning and be done. I only used my coffee brewer if there were guests in the home or I was entertaining because I was too lazy to clean it after every use. Now, I can have fresh brewed in less than 60 seconds and there is nothing to clean. I try to avoid it after around 4pm, but lately I have been completely wired when I go to bed and wonder if it's a little too much caffeine. It's not hurting with the weight loss, so it can't be all bad.

In answer to Beth's question, that is really a hard one. I love so many things that are bad for me, and so little that are good. I am the girl who never met a French fry I didn't love. I have always loved most fresh fruits and veggies, so those don't count. I have always hated cottage cheese, yogurt and whole wheat and still do. I guess I like salmon alot more than I used to and try to eat it frequently so that would have to be my answer.

Cindy: I like your idea of a floating trophy....it's a good way to ensure that we will do something like this again.

OK, that's it......I have a meeting with our accountant in a little over an hour. Hoping for that big refund......:thumbsup2

So many checking in again! I am so happy! :cool1:

Jeanne: Onderland!!!! You are here, and here to stay! I am glad you are almost to your first 10 goal. It's nice to have success when you are working so hard for it!

Cindy: I hope the test results will follow soon....how has your stomach been feeling? Too bad it isn't an 'easy' solution with soda! Never can be an easy fixed, huh?

Jackie: So, we share the eating problem, and now the sleeping problem! Yuck. I usually sleep like a baby.....with getting up so early. My husband is on a business trip, and I just don't sleep well when he is gone. I have become the 'pitiful' person I never wanted to be! I am usually very independent.....but being married the last 14 years has changed some things. For some reason I've become very attached to my dh! He thinks it's histerical....I don't. But, I am now resigned to the fact that I won't sleep well until his return....... :headache::sad2:

Maria: It's no fair that you have to work when your dh, and son are off! I hate that! :sad2: I hear ya feeling run-down though. I didn't get up today either. I will attempt to run tonight, but I am not sure that will happen or not.

Vicky: Yes, I have another massage scheduled for tomorrow....I just don't know what the heck is going on. I usually run everyday without the aches and pains....who knows? Maybe I am just being super "aware" of things that are always there? I wish I could just get back into my 'zone'. I hate when people honk their horns at me. I am sorry to report that I am usually the one flipping the finger to often. I worry sometimes that they might be people I know.....but I don't think so. Rude comments from stupid men put me into a lather! I get so mad! Comes with the territory I guess!

Good luck with your 30K....when is it?

Keep checking in everyone!

Beth

Whew! Done with the rough stuff today and a few minutes to post...

Beth -- I hope that massage feels wonderful! You deserve it :goodvibes

Jeanne -- :welcome: to Onederland!!! I totally understand your love of the Keurig! I use mine to make hot tea and hot cocoa, and I just love it! If the caffeine is getting to you (and you like tea), there are a variety of kinds without it...

Cindy -- I hope today's test has good results, and you will finally get the diagnosis you need  Unfortunately this has been one of those endless work days, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit less stressful for everyone -- no scary tests for you!

I'm making myself walk after work for you guys -- I really don't want to do it, but I also don't want to break my 18-day streak!

Maria :upsidedow

Hi Ladies.

Maria: I completely understand about daylight savings time. I keep going to bed at 11 or 12. I get up WAY too early to go to bed that late! I hope you adjust soon, and, I hope you start feeling a little more comfortable.

Beth: I hope you were able to get that run in. Is your half on Saturday? Do you feel prepared?

Jeanne: Congrats on day 2 of onederland. See, we knew you could do it!:)

Cindy: I sure wish they'd hurry with those test results! We are all curious as to what is causing this. Sounds like you're running up a storm. Good for you. Especially running through all this pain.

Vicky: The run went well. Thanks. Which full are you doing? WDW? I have reached that point where I question if I REALLY want to do a full. That was my original intent, but the time I spend running now, just training for the half, is so much that I can't imagine doubling it. But, we'll see if I get the race bug in my half next month. ;)

Jackie: It sounds like no one's sleeping right now. It must be nice to prepare the whole week's food and not have to worry about it anymore. Every time I try that, I eat too much! I have NO willpower at all! ;)

To answer yesterdays question, my favorite food now is oatmeal. I eat it every single day and sometimes, I eat it twice a day. I like the lower sugar instant for ease, but I really love steel cut oats when I have the time. Yummy!

My 6 mile run never got done yesterday. Too much St. Patty's Day for me. So, I did it today and it felt good. Of course, it's thrown my entire schedule off for a day now. Oh well.

I must now bow down to my husband. He was right! My stomach feels pretty darn good now and has for about 3 days straight. I'm glad to read that everyone else has gone through the soda or sweetener release as well. I also am thinking about going back to being a vegetarian. Last time, I was a vegan. I know I can't do that again, but I think becoming a vegetarian is very doable and I can get plenty of protein from dairy. I had a bad experience yesterday with my corned beef. It had all these long veins running through it and just completely grossed me out! I couldn't even eat it. I'm not usually that squeamish, but yuck!

I hope everyone has a good evening.

Hi All -
I am back (I hope). I fell off the health and running wagon after my half marathon in February. But it has been a full month and it is time to get back in gear. It is funny because I was really loving exercise and chatting on WISH, but I just stopped! It has been crazy hard to get back into it.

Yesterday I did run the luck of the iWish 5K. It was the first real exercise I have had in a month :confused3 But I am glad I went out and did it. I took my DH with me (he has been just as lazy as I have) and I went at his pace, so we were pretty slow. I know I could have walked faster than we shuffled together. But it wasn't a real race, and time didn't matter. We had fun and finished. I ran (jogged/shuffled) for the entire time. It was fun and hopefully a sign we will start going again.

I didn't have a chance to catch up on what everyone has been up to, but I hope you are all doing great. And I (hope I) will be seeing you more often.
