Working New Years Eve/Day?

I am scheduled to wrok both nights - so no partying for me. Oh well, I would rather get the double and a half pay.

So does anyone else have to work. Does your work compensate you for having to work the holidays?

Yes - I will also be working New Years Eve - I work for a 24 hour service company but thankfully have the luxury of working from home - I do have New Years Day off - hiosting the family party and celebrating DS birthday - he turns 14 today!!!!!!!!!

I'm working both the 31st and the 1st. We get time and a half for working New Year's Day, but not the night before.

Working NYE (the mail must go thru) but get NYD off. My husbands band is playing at a party NYE. I hope I can muster up the energy to go

I work the 31st - DH works both the 31st and the 1st (total of 36 hour shift) -- both in healthcare - someone has to take care of the party people

We took our New Year's Eve holiday on December 23rd. Next year it will be taken on December 26th. We get New Year's Day off.

I get both the 31st and 1st off. DH has to work on the 31st, but will be home on the 1st.

Still it is going to be a quiet, stay at home New Years Eve.

My office is open until noon on New Years Eve, but I won't be working, I'll be on vacation!

I'll be working New Year Eve's Day and really looking forward to it. Having the big crowds return to Disney is just wonderful!

The 1st is a holiday where I work, and I’m using my last vacation day for the 31st. It’s a special day, though. My nephew is turning 21!

All we got off was Christmas and New Years day. I took Christmas Eve off...they were dead at work and management was offering everyone to leave early and take vacation time. It was so dumb, we get calls from doctors offices for pre cert...guess management figured offices would actually be open???? I expect we will be dead New Years Eve too.

I work New Years Eve from 5am till 12 noon. New Years Day I have Off!

I started midnight shifts Christmas night and finish New Years morning. We do get premium pay for working holiday shifts.

I work for a utility and that's a 24/7 operation. I had three dispatchers who came in Christmas morning to a storm and were stuck here for three shifts in a row.

I've been doing this coming up on 35 years and I doubt I will work for a utility in my next life.

Well since I work for the school district, I'm off. Your local courthouse should be open, how do I know, DH has to work (he's currently a baliff) on the 31st, but is off the 1st. Probabaly the last holiday off for awhile though, he's putting in for a transfer, so I'm going to take advantage of it.

I'm off on New Years day, but work the 31st...DH has to work tho he works for a trucking company that is open 24/7.
