Story time =]

3 Summers ago I started volunteering at my mom's office. I'd do little things, like stamp envelopes, copying papers and filing. Well the next summer they had me doing bigger things. Like getting on the computer and checking to see if files were closed, or open. Etc. Bigger, more complicated things. Because they were starting to earn my trust, I guess.

Well so when I started back in March, I sort of became the head boss's personal secretary. I'd do things only for her, but the problem is, she didn't have all that much for me to do. But everyone thought I was busy with her, so they didn't ask me to do things.

But today my mom was talking to one of the clerical, who didn't realize I was sitting around bored out of my mind most of the time. So the clerical supervisor has decided that me and another teen volunteer are going to start registering applications! Now, you're going WTH does that mean? Well I don't know really all the details to it, but it's something that a lot of the case workers rely on.

I am freaking jumping for joy over here. Because last summer I always asked my mother, when do you think they'll have me start registering applications...in a sort of sarcastic "yeah right" way.

I always want to feel more official, and more of a worker, with a duty in the office. I absolutely HATE being bored. So yeah, I'm really excited.

=] Just wanted to share this with you guys.

=) yay!

(since I think both of our mothers have the same job, I'll ask her about the applications)

I'm actually heading to work in a few minutes.

congratulations!
my job isn't quite as fufilling (babysitting a spoiled 7-year-old)
but the hours aren't bad- no nights. and the pay is good.
but i'm glad that you're having fun with your work.

My mom actually just made county administrator, so this will be for the DCO department (food stamps/medicaid/TEA) Which she is now the supervisor of, plus DCFS. I've been running between the second and third floor all week doing random things.

I mean I know what they're for and all, I just don't exactly know how to go about doing it. They're going to train me on Monday.

But thanks. =]

Congrats. =)

I'm guessing when I get my health back together in Michigan, I'm going to go about looking to get a job. I'm getting a car soon, and I'm going to need the gas money.

Don't go into customer services. trust me.

w00t Jenny! I had a day of work today. I don't work much but when I do its at an art studio for children. Fun time =]

Thanks. The clerical woman was at my party today, and we talked all about it. I pretty much understand how to go about doing it. It's actually a pretty simple process, there's just TONS of applications that need to be registered. And she'll also be having me do Changes, and Semi-Annual Reports, which means nothing to you all reading this.

Anyhoo, I'm so excited about this. I'll finally have a place in that office.

Congrats! Have fun working in the office. Enjoy your job :)

Congratulations Jenny!

I actually just got a job at my mom's work too, and they never hire students, so this a pretty big thing for me :) . My mom is on maternity leave though, so I'm working without her. It's in a lingerie store for hard-to-find bra sizes from a C-cup to a K, and I size, tag, hang, and do odd jobs all day. Definitely not as important as your job, but it keeps me busy and I get payed almost $10 an hour, so I'm happy with it.

This summer should be really busy for me. I'm working two jobs now, with the second one still being my waitressing at the coffee shop :headache:

No need to get stuck about it Jenny. Shelby was just trying to say she understood it was a big deal.

I didn't think that she was being stuck up about it. If Shelby thought otherwise, I think she can say it for herself.

I think that I'll speak up with whatever I think, and I don't really need to be prompted to do so. And if Norah thought otherwise, shes just as justified to say so as I am.

Awhile ago, jenny and my mother had the same job. I didn't know that she was promoted. I think she was just saying that her mother is now a supervisor. I dont think she meant to be snotty about it, but I can see where norah was coming from. I wasn't going to say anything about it.

I wasn't prompting you to say anything.

Then what makes me unjustified to say anything about it?
