How do you handle having a boss that has clear favorites? Agh so frustrating.

Everyone has a favorite - coworker, boss, friend. Its no biggie. Just do the job and let it roll off your back.

I think I understand how you feel, I worked in a small office where most of the employees were family - never again!!! In my case, there was nothing to do but get out of the situation - his company, his rules to change at will!

Hope your situation is different and you find a solution!:goodvibes

I hope it doesn't come back to me having to change jobs. I know everyone has there favorite. Which I don't care about. I just wish it didn't affect my job

There is really nothing you can do about it. If you work for a large company, though, you can often take your issues to HR if they are really having a disparity in treatment. If you work in a small company, there's not a whole lot you can.

Just move along when you can and hope that one day YOU will be someone's favorite.:goodvibes

This happened to me at my old job. My boss was male and I was one of only 2 females on the team, all the rest were male. He definitely favored the male employees and thought that all females should love and adore him. I didn't think this way at all and thought that he was a jerk in that respect. So therefore he did not care for me. It was very frustrating and awkward to be around him, trying to be nice and make conversation with him. I finally got to the point where I left that job. It was for a couple reasons, but he was definitely of them. When giving my closing interview I let them know what an egotistical jerk he was (ok, not in those words!) but how he favored the men and treated me poorly. I'm glad that I am not in that situation anymore.

OP  to you. I know how frustrating it can be to be in that situation

the bold is how my boss is

If your boss is favoring the men over the woman then that isn’t just favoritism, it's sexual discrimination... Is there a central office that you can call to discuss this with?

I don't want to be a favorite. I prefer my position of doing my job and staying under the radar.

Sorry about that, OP...that stinks.

I am in a management role in my job, and my boss has been accused of having favorites; at least in our office, it boils down that her "favs" are working hard & thus being successful. The accusers are often the pot-stirrers trying to make trouble. I am not saying AT ALL that this is your situation; just an observation of what goes on in our office.
