WooHoo! We are going to Disneyland (but I have a transportation question).

I have been able to convince my DH that a trip to Disneyland is necessary. It took a bit of talking (mainly because we just got back from a 14 day trip to the Northwest that included a week on the DCL Wonder, and we are heading to San Diego in a couple of weeks for a long weekend), but he finally said ok. My oldest DD and I are heading down on a Wednesday, and DH and youngest DD (17) are coming on a Friday.

DH and DD are flying into LAX on United at 4:55 PM on a Friday. UGH! So my question is, what do you think will be the best transportation - Disneyland Express or a shared shuttle? We are staying at the Tropicana. I have Karmel Shuttle booked for $44 for two, but if there is a better/faster not horribly expensive option available, I want to look into it. They are going to have only 2 1/4 days in the parks.

Thanks for the help.

I have a similar scenario. We'll be landing at 3:55 p.m. on a Thursday. I have Karmel booked, but I am second guessing my choice.

How are you getting back to the airport? If you're using the resort express, it would be cheaper to book them two round trips at $35/pp, but if you're all coming back together, a shared car might be cheaper.

Traffic will be gridlock at that time and it may take up to 2 hours to get from LAX to Disney resort area. So cutting time in anyway possible may be the best option. Mousesavers has a pretty good breakdown of all of the options. http://www.mousesavers.com/transpor...nts-on-airport-shuttles-for-disney-vacations/

They have a train called metrolink but it doesn't go to LAX. I guess they have a shuttle service to the closest stop and the airport, but very inconvenient. How can you have a train system that doesn't go to your main airport?

I always try to fly into John Wayne airport in Orange County when I fly to the Anaheim area.

We are returning to LAX together, so I still need to look into that transportation. DH doesn't travel much, they are going to want to get to Disneyland quickly, so I am trying to find the easiest for him. I wished there would have been SNA options for them.

Unfortunately, LAX via the resort express is probably going to be a long journey to your DH. Also, with them coming in at 4:55, they'll likely have to wait an hour for the 6:00 coach since there's no chance to make the 5:00 one. There is a stop right next to the Tropicana, but that could essentially be a 3-4 hour process after landing depending on traffic :worried:

I was looking and found http://www.primetimeshuttle.com/disneylandshuttle.htm, it says they charge only $15/pp from LAX to Disneyland and the surrounding area. That would be faster and cheaper, though I'm not sure if that's shared, the stops, etc.

I would assume on the way back to LAX, one shared car for all of you is the best option.

So now I have booked a private car - won't have to worry about drop offs at other hotels, etc. Not the cheapest, but the most personalized. And Sunny's Transportation has great reviews. Giving it a try!

Regardless of which transportation company you use, just to let you know it's going to take a minimum of 2 hours to get to Anaheim, maybe 3. Traffic is horrible on the LAX freeway, the 91, everywhere
