So in a acouple days Helena(why name snow) is going o leave a souvenir of snow.

Not a fan of snow, because 1) people can't drive in it or they over estimate their ability 2) it's cold3) we will get the old freeze over to ice 4)did I mention it's cold?

A couple inches here heck even an inch closes the area down, lol.

May everyone in the path of this cold mess be safe.

Not picking on you but a couple inches is no big deal. At least not if you live in an area that gets snow..a couple inches in Florida would not be good.

We have about 4' on the ground now and more is expected. We didn't get it gradually, we have two major storms that dumped all. And, even though I live in Winterpeg, people forget how to drive the first time it snows every.single.year.

Stock up on mitts, long johns, and a toque and you'll be fine :)

It might help to know where "here" is.

Where I am, a few inches of snow is a big deal. We have no plows or other snow equipment as it would be a waste of money to keep such things when they would be used only for a few days every couple of years or so. Most of my fellow motorists here don't know how to drive in snow or on ice as we have at most one day or two a year to practice. So, everything shuts down until the roads are safe to travel.

Most of us don't have the winter outerwear or boots for snow, ice, or bitter cold either. You just bundle up in extra sweaters and socks and endure the few days we might have each year as best you can. Last year, my heavy winter coat and snow boots didn't see the light of day.

Stay warm and safe, y'all!

I'm hoping for a big one! It I agree, in the south where I live we are not prepared for it. Few plows/treatment trucks. So we just stay home til it melts. 3 inches is a LOT of snow for us.

My mom was born in, and lived in Saskatchewan Canada until she was 21. She hated snow, so much so that she took her first job in Winnepeg, and her next job in Minneapolis for the warmer weather! She made to California at age 23 for a job, and hoped her next move would be Hawaii. She stayed in California for the rest of her life, other than some vacations to Hawaii.
And she never understood why people voluntarily went to the snow, let alone PAID to ski or snowboard. Of course, she was an RN whose specialty was orthopedic surgery, so over the years she was involved in patching up a lot of self inflicted snow sports injuries. I was thinking of her earlier this week when a second co-worker went out on medical leave as they recover from fractures that required surgery from skiing .

I'm in an area where two inches is considered nothing, but I do sympathize with places that don't have the equipment to deal with it. We're supposed to have a bit tomorrow, but no chance of a snow-day yet.

I'm in Kentucky and two inches closes schools. Actually just the forecast for two inches closed the schools today. So I understand how the OP feels about the weather.

I love snow. We only get one or two inches a year. Snow is forecasted for next week and I am excited. I do agree that people can't drive in it. I am horrible at driving in the snow, so I stay home.

Not to pick on you, but why do people want to say oh such and such is nothing? All places are not created equal. Your normal is not everyone s normal and vice versa.
Not every place has all the same resources.
Even a hint of snow shuts places down here. Interstates and main road ways are plowed, residential, not happening not enough plows and equipment.
My area is more ready(cough cough) for tropical storms, hurricanes.

But, I will be ready. I actually do have snow boots(after I ruined a normal pair a few years ago in the snow) Snow shovel, ice melt(because we usually get an inch and it freezes to ice, cookies to bake,Im good.lol

We are forecasted for 5-8 inches, fun.

Well, it's here, just south of Buffalo. Getting a few inches an hour now. Cleared the driveway twice already. Hate snow. Hate shoveling. Hate snow. Hate driving in it. Hate snow. Hate winter. Did I mention I hate snow??

All that said, I'll take snow over your hurricanes, tornados & floods. I can't imagine how you recover from those.

I did say it's no big deal..if you live In an area that gets snow. Meaning if there are plies and equipment in place.

I live in GA. There is no bread left in town and only soy milk! Good thing we bought groceries yesterday.
:rotfl:We're good. I make our bread and DH is the only one who drinks milk. He's OK going without. Did you fill up your car with gas?

I'm just hoping that this only a scare and that if we get snow, we get three flakes and we're done. ::yes::

At most we're expecting an inch or two, yet of course the 5 o'clock news led off with their typical hysterical "Winter Storm Update." I surprised they didn't cut into Judge Judy.

Well, final total for our town was about 2.5 FEET. Traffic was snarled for hours, took my DH 50 minutes for what usually takes 15. School buses actually got stuck- a few on the road & an elementary school actually had to keep kids there til the early hours of the morning when the roads were better. lots of schools with snow days today.
