We just bit the bullet and bought plane tickets so it's time to start planning! We'll be fighting the crowds from Dec.19 - 23 to celebrate our 20th anniversary (Dec 22nd.) When we were on our honeymoon we decided to come back for our 10th anniversary with kids and now we're doing it again for our 20th.

I'm sooooo excited and, even after all my years on this site, kind of flailing around with the planning. We did do DL a few years ago, but it's been 10 years, so I'm a little rusty! It seemed easier to find stuff last time - I guess the DIS has grown! Even trying to decide which forum to start reading for what info is :scared1:overwhelming!

Woohoo! I just had to tell someone and I knew you'd understand!

Is this the first time you will be going during the Christmas season? As much as the crowds can be a pain it is worth making it down at least once to see the parks in all their holiday splendor.

I'll be down there for marathon weekend so I usually just miss them.

Have a good trip.

Thanks! We were there Dec 23rd - 27th 20 years ago on our honeymoon. And we were there the week before the 4th of July 10 years ago for our 10th anniversary - so we know crowds! I'm a teacher so crowds are pretty much inevitable.

I LOVE wdw at christmas.

If you've never been before, here are my musts:
Go to the Grand Floridian and see the gingerbread house (and maybe buy a little one of your own)
Go to all the parks at least once, to see their big tree decorated
Go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party (Pretty much the only time there aren't any lines in MK in december ;) but buy your tickets early!)

First of all, OP, I hate you. :snooty:
Ok, just had to get that out. Disney jealousy can be viscious. We will NEVER get to go at Christmas. My husband is a retail manager and the months of Nov, Dec and Jan are blocked out for no days off, no vacations. Ugh, I hate it. I would die happy as long as it happened in WDW during Christmas. With the snowflakes falling down on Main Street, holding a cup of cocoa in one hand and a gingerbread cookie in the other, seeing the thousands of Pointsettias and all the characters wearing Christmas attire, the toy soldiers marching down Main Street during the parade. (Can you tell I have watched the Sam Brown Christmas Disney show a time or two?)
Seriously though, I'm so happy for you!!!! This will be your best anniversary ever! I have always begged DH to somehow find a way to take me on our 20th anniversary withOUT the kids. We have never done gone without the girls. We have been married 17 years, so he has 3 years to figure out how to get me down there during Christmas!! He doesn't even need to come with me! Ok, that was mean....but you know Disney makes you think crazy things. ;)
PS: I don't hate you...you know that, right? And our wedding anniversary is in May, but I can certainly hold off celebrating it for a few months!

I'm so happy to have somewhere to let loose some of this excitement. I just made my Shades of Green reservations with no problems. I didn't even have to wait on hold!

I don't blame you for being excited!! I would be too!

Here's something to get you even MORE excited.

Wow - thanks for sharing that! My mind is spinning thinking ... I should buy a bunch of new ornaments etc. while we're there... Maybe I should get a new camera...

We're going to have 5 park days so I wasn't necessarily planning on going resort hopping, but now I think I will just to see the decorations. Our kids can be on their own while dh and I just wander around looking!
