I just received word that paperwork has gone through and we are new members to DVC. :cool1: We purchased 204 points at SSR UY of August. Why 204? :confused3 Because I'm rather anal and determined exactly how many points we will need for the trips we usually make.

I really have to thank everyone who posts on these forums. I'm usually a lurker on forums but read and studied extensively here before making the plunge.

We did a tour of SSR on 2/28 while we were staying at the AKL and really loved the place.

Can't wait until our first official "DVC" visit.

204 points lol I love it. I should have thought it out more, but I went with what I could afford at the time....and of course, before my first trip even, I WANT MORE! lol

Congrats and Welcome home! :cool1:

Pinmaniac - congrats - from what I can tell you'll have many years of wonderful vacations!!

Since it sounds like you were just there and toured SSR can you tell me what specifically you liked about it...We will be buying sight unseen and I can't decide on SSR through Disney or a sold out through resale and would love to hear your opinion...

Thanks - Karolyn

Congratulations and Welcome Home!
204 points-that's great, I love it! :rotfl:
I am starting to have point envy! I bought 150 but really wish I got 200 or so. I'm thinking of an add on!

There were several things we liked about SSR. The location is one - being across the water from DTD is great. Being able to park infront of the room is another - we do not typically use the bell hop service. My wife loved the look of the resort. We also liked the rooms although to be honest we haven't visited any other DVC resorts so we did not have something to compare to.

One thing that I commented on to my wife after leaving SSR was that to me it felt like an upscale apartment complex instead of a hotel. She agreed, and said she was thinking the same thing. This may be a plus or a negative depending on how you look at it. To us it is a plus as it lends more of a "home" feel to the resort instead of it feeling like a hotel.

I hope the above helps. I would hate to have to make a decision without visiting, but between the DVC video, website, this board and other information available on the web you should be able to make a well informed decision.
