Wonder's EBPC 9/12/14 Who's Going With Us!

You're a doctor, right?

I always think it's funny when people mention a medication and they're like "it's for ______" and I'm thinking "no, no it's not." Last cruise somehow the patriarch of the family we were sitting with and I got into a talk about meds (I mentioned my sleeping pill/antidepressant with my sleep problems.). The guy was like "I take cialis for my back pain." His family doesn't blink an eye. His kid doesn't get red in the face or even squirm. I was like "I would've killed my dad if he said that." My family walked out of the dinning room after dinner and my mom was like "I nearly killed you for being TMI with the antidepressant, until ____ mentioned cialis." My uncle was like "that's not for back pain?" :cool1:

I've been on Pinterest looking for FE gift ideas. That and sister's wedding stuff.

Not Doctor. Emergency department nurse.

Hilarious story.

In like you I find myself biting my tongue more often than not.

I learned long ago to watch my conversation around the dinner table. My family is used to it but when I'm public I can go from 0 to Gross on 1.2 seconds. Just don't ask me about my job and things go well. But I figure that if you ask then you're prepared for the answer.

Ok, another note to self.............(Self, don't ask Steve about his job, or anything work related!!!)

You are what I want to be when I "grow up!" I am going to school to be an ER RN.

So then we have a cruise full of nurses and nurse's aides. Oh this will be interesting. How many people are going to puke overboard by listening to our stories.

I did volunteer work in the ER for 8 years and have worked in different doctor's offices for more than 20 so it takes a lot to gross me out. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

It's funny how much we can get used to. Still just when I thought I'd heard it all...

At the very least if one was ever to become ill on a cruise, this would be the one to do it on.

what do you do????

I manage the Emergency department at a local hospital. It always makes for interesting conversation for the non-queasy.

My favorite story is the gang-banger that wanted to get a better look while doing a drive by shooting. He stuck his head out the front window while his buddy in the back seat was doing the shooting. Needless to say Darwin won that one.

Another comes from early in my career. The teenage girl who swore to her dad that she was not pregnant. Who, once the baby began to crown and we hurriedly whisked her off to L&D she was heard yelling down the hall to her perplexed father. "It's not mine, Dad! It's not mine!"

LOL.... Hey isn't 60 the new 40? Maybe all of us who would like to find tablemates should friend each other, and when when we get close to the cruise date.... when we're making final payments..... we could request to be seated with each other. If there are too many to sit at one table, we could split into several groups. There might be some who prefer early dining and others who want the second seating.

It does seem that this cruise could have a high percentage of adults, given the time of year, and its length.

Karen

DBF is retired in his 60s, I'm let's just say over 50, traveling w/o our kids, we'd love to find similarly situated couples to share a table with. BUT we're on second seating. Any Golden Agers on second seating?

Steve,
We can share war stories. I worked as a Psychiatric Nurse in the Psychiatric Emergency Room of an LA County Hospital for 8 years.

Oh boy, I'll bet you've got some great ones. I remember two psychiatric holds that we had once. Made the mistake of placing Jesus next to Satan. Hilarity ensued.

I'm sure there will be cmesq61. Karen, (kayaker35), has started a list of those for the first seating. Check her post #482. I believe she said she will keep a list for both seatings. :thumbsup2

Hello All,

I am keeping the list, as David said. I figured out how to make a Google spreadsheet (no small task for this non-techie), and have published it to the web. Anyone interested in signing up to share dining room seating is welcome to add their names to the list. I've added those who have already said they wanted to do that. So far I have: Donna and David, Betty and Armando, Olive and Bob, Carolann and Gib, Karen and Ed. I'll send all who have signed up so far the link so they can edit any information if needed.

If anybody else wants to add themselves to the list, please send me a private message and I'll give you the link to the spreadsheet. I think that's better than sharing the link with anyone who happens to view this forum, but may not be part of our group.

If anybody has ideas about how I can improve the spreadsheet, please let me know. I don't think we should be sharing our reservation numbers or even full names at this point. When we get closer to the cruise date we can split up into groups to sit at tables of 4 or 6 or whatever people want..... assuming we get enough signed up to do that, lol.

Please don't hesitate to tell me if what I'm doing is acceptable or not.... I'm totally open to suggestions of how to do it better.

:) Karen
