Wonderland Tea Party REVIEW

My 8 yr old DD attended the Wonderland Tea Party today and loved it.

We arrived about 1:15pm for the 1:30 tea and checked in. FYI, with tax, the cost is now an even $30 per child. I was given a receipt with my last name written on it that was to be my "claim form" later, a nametag and a beeper. A few minutes before 1:30pm, one of the ladies in charge spoke to the kids, got them pumped up and openned the doors. There was a long table set up, about 20 seats or so, with little tea pots and cups, plates, placemats, colored cloth napkins and confetti. Everyone sat down and said goodbye to the parents. Since parents are not aloud to stay, here's what info I got out of her....

They decorated cup cakes, had ham and cheese roll ups and heart shaped PB&J's, met Alice and the Mad Hatter, played "Alice Says" (Simon says), got pictures and autographs, had chicken nuggets, played hide and go seek and helped clean up.

When the doors openned for the parents to claim their child, all the kids had their heads down on the table so we had to "wake" them. To our surprise, they each had a bouquet of wildflowers to give to the person who came to get them. She also got to take home 2 craft projects in plastic baggies and the picture of her with Alice and the Mad Hatter in a cute folder that they autographed.

Very cute experience.

Most of the kids there were girls between 4 and 6 yrs old, I saw 2 boys in the bunch and I would say my daughter was the oldest one there. She had a great time and gave it 2 thumbs up.

Hope this helps anyone thinking about booking it.

Thanks for the review! I reserved it for my 5-1/2 year old daughter in October. It sounds like she is going to love it! Thanks again!

Thanks for the great review!

I had my 5 year old DD do this in 2001 and had heard here that they did not take pictures or provide them so I sent in a disposible camera. My DD took some pictures and so did the CMs and that is all I got. No nice picture provided in a folder.

I think that's great that they are providing a picture again!!! For $30 that's the least they could do!

Thanks again!

My DD enjoyed this June 2001 and DID get the folder picture with autograph. She also took the camera in and they took several good photos of her and the entire group.:D We did peek a couple times and got Alice and the group chanting "No peeking" at us:p ! It was one of her best WDW memories. Glad your DD enjoyed it too.

Thanks for the review, my 2 DDs are doing this one in 2 weeks. I'm sure they will love it.

My GFs 5 year old did it last week and she loved it. I was only disappointed because we left her a camera to take pics and she never took one. Oh well would have loved to have been able to watch her having fun.

Actually Chrissy tried to peek in on her and all the kids yelled out "No Peeking" ;)

Thanks for the great review!!

I had just posted a thread asking about opinions of this or the Pirate Cruise for my kids so I was very interested in hearing your experience. I think my son (8 years old) might feel a little out of place here.

Thanks again,

Thanks for the review!

My daugter did it about 2 1/2 years ago when she was 5 1/2. We are going back to WDW again. Now she is 8 and her sister (1st trip) will be 5. I booked this for both of them. I asked her if she thought she might be too old, but she said no. Glad your daughter who is the same age enjoyed it.

Thanks again,

Nicole,

My daughter has not done the Pirate Cruise but has also done the Grand Adventures in Cooking twice and loved it also. That was a good mix of boys and girls.

Thanks, Suzanne!

Maybe I'll look into that if it's not already booked up.

My daughter attended the tea party January of 2003.

She will be going again this august. I also left a disposable camera for my daughter and was disappointed they did not take pictures. She did leave with a polaroid of herself with the Mad Hatter and Alice. It was very cute. I didn't take many pictures bc they kind of shooed all the parents out and they're kinda dark bc my battery was running low, but here they are:

Would have taken more if I knew they weren't going to take pictures from the disposable I left with my daughter.
Was kind of disappointed since we had dressed my daughter in her vintage Alice outfit.

As a side note the two days later we went to the character breakfast at 1900 parkfare and in attendance were mary poppins, alice and the mad hatter among others. The mad hatter came up to my daughter and remembered her name. I was very suprised and as he was leaving asked my daughter if he was the same mad hatter that had been at the tea party (it slipped out before I could stop it because I was so suprised he remembered her) He overheard me came back and in perfect mad hatter persona said." well of course I am don't be thilly!!!" He was absolutely terrific. We are looking forward to seeing him next month.

Wow, thanks so much for sharing!!! Those are great pictures and a great Mad Hatter story.

A similar thing happened to us. We did the Tea Party and then RAN over to MK to catch the parade at 2:30 or 3:00 I can't remember and the Mad Hatter and Alice recognized our DD and said a special hello to her! She was so excited that they remembered her and said hi right in the middle of the parade and I also caught it on tape!

beattyfamily

what a magical moment. It is so wonderful you were able to catch it on tape. I will make sure to send an email/letter to corporate so that they know what a treasure they have. The Mad Hatter and Alice are the best. My daughter loved the special treatment. I am going to try to pour her into her Alice dress again next month. I am crossing my fingers it will still fit. LOL She is only 3 years old and she wears a size six. She is sooo tall.

I would like to convey to the mangement at Disney how much it touches my heart and makes our vacation that much more special when I encounter special CM such as the Mad Hatter and Alice. I will make sure to ask the attendants at the Wonderland Tea Party where I can send my comments.
