Wonder in Alaska!!! May 27, 2013

On past cruises (This will be our 5th one) we have linked our reservation with another family from the DIS before we went.

Is there anyone (with late dining) that would want to link dining reservations? It's always nice to have something in common, rather being put with people who don't like to socialize with others.

Have a magical Saturday night!

I hear you on this one. I love Parrot Cay and I love the menu, but I have a severe allergy to bananas and this and the Pirate Menu are the most dangerous for me.

I did have a look at some Navigators from last year and it looks like that on the Alaska cruises they served A Taste of Alaska as the rotational menu at Parrot Cay so this may not be a concern.

I wonder with the new Pixar Party that they will also change the menu? And the theming of the evening. That would be fun!

thank you!! :)
not real thrilled with the choices though. ( having a cheese allergy isnt very fun!!)

That would be hard. Cheese is my favorite food, even over chocolate.

I have to avoid mangoes and scallops.

I am just planning to eat elsewhere on the night we get that menu.

I cant eat chocolate anymore either. :( I get migraines. so I had to cut chocolate out too... hardest thing ever! its been 5 years and I still miss it!!

I couldn't see it either, so of course I had to find it also. Try this one, all the way at the bottom.

Thanks for sharing. Now I no longer have to squint at the screen.

I actually quite like this menu, but I see some swapping around in the future for the entree. I love the idea of the steak, but don't like the sides that come with it. I do however love the sides that come with the chicken or the lobster. The shrimp and the risotto would work well with the steak.

DH is allergic to chocolate the poor thing.

I made another huge piece of progress. We finally managed to book our flights. We will fly into Los Angeles via Atlanta on May 16th and then fly back home from Seattle via Amsterdam on June 6th. Now I just need to sort out a hotel in Seattle, make up our minds on where we are staying pre-cruise and sort out the transfers from LAX to wherever we are staying. I also need to keep and eye on the rates for airport hotels near our local airport. We tend to spend the night at one of the airport hotels before a transatlantic flight. At the moment the rates are still very high, but I am sure they will come down. All over sudden the whole trip does not look too daunting anymore.

Did I miss the lanyard sign-up thread?

Nope! I offered to have DH design a little card that can slip into the card part of people's lanyards so we can put faces to DisBoard names ;) While it's nice to have lanyards printed, I was thinking it can be a bit expensive and some people want to wear their pin lanyards instead. Hence just a card insert. :thumbsup2 My goal is to have them done 2 weeks beforehand so people can print them at home before they leave.

Corinna:

you will be in my neck of the woods on May 16th! if by chance something goes wrong with your flight... message me...I'd be happy to meet you for dinner etc. :)

Has anyone done acupuncture onboard? I've done it twice, it has become a requirement for me to enjoy the cruise. In contacting dcl to try and pre-book the treatment I've gotten a bit of a run around. Long story short, it is a contracted service and I must contact that company to see if they will be one onboard.

I was just wondering if anyone else had done this?

Hi Lori! Just got Conde Naste Traveller in the mail and thought you would like to know that Vista Spa on the Wonder was voted #1 of the top 25 Cruise Ship Spas!! Also, this comment "The acupuncture literally got rid of my back pain in 3 days! I was pain free for 3 months- I wish I could see her here at home." The woman had been on a Princess cruise, but it sounds encouraging! Aloha, Karen:thumbsup2

Hi Corinna,

I just submitted 4 forms for the Champagne Girls party. There are three of us girls, me, my sister, and good friend and her husband. He's a good sport, but I'm pretty sure he's not going to be wearing a tiara. I notice the word "Pink" is not included in the party title. Are we no longer planning to wear something pink?

Thank you for all your hard work in organizing this event.

Regards,

Lisa

Thanks for offering to do this. Unfortunately I have no facility to print anything like this. They either print only black and white or can't print on card.

Thanks for the kind offer. I keep my fingers crossed that everything works out fine.

Sorry, just realized my original message wasn't clear at all. I meant that people could print the design on regular 8.5x11 paper at home/work/wherever, then cut the card out themselves. The lanyard card design would have lines around it to make it easier to cut out.

If it's not easy to do an editable document that people can input their Dis names on to, (I'm thinking a PDF, but that's ultimately up to DH), I might just do a sign up & print them here at home on heavy paper as I have a paper cutter & color laser & then pass them out the first day during our meet. Just depends on how much time I have before the cruise :thumbsup2

No I understood this, but for it to go in the lanyard, it would need to be cardstock rather than just the ordinary printer paper that I can use. The printer that I have access to jams constantly and I would not dare putting anything but the thin flimsy printer paper that we routinely use in there.
