I know that the Family one has an additional 36 square feet, chair and murphy bed. But does it also have a larger dresser top and/or more drawers? The pictures I've seen all show the OTHER wall--the chair in front of the murphy bed (when it's closed) or the chair pushed to the side of the murphy bed (when it's open). So I was wondering what, if anything, is along that opposite wall (so at the "foot" of the murphy bed when it's down) and if there's storage benefits in addition to space/bed benefits of going with the family room.

Thanks!

Yes there is extra storage since the desk/vanity is longer. So an extra column of drawers.

Keep in mind, either way the rooms start off being bigger than the rooms on the Dream or the Fantasy, so if you're used to those, even the regular verandah will be good.

Really? I did not realize that. There are only 4 of us...maybe I shouldn't waste the money.

There were 4 of us in a family room, and we didn't fill all the drawers or use all the storage. It really is a LOT I was surprised.

I know..now I think we don't need it. Curious how the "extra" space on a Magic/Wonder regular (non-family) verandah, as compared to the same room on the Dream/Fantasy, is used. Looks like 22 sq ft. just extra floor space? extra dresser or drawer space? larger closet? larger bath? hmmm...

If it helps, the Dream class ships are smaller sq ft but use rhe space smarter. We had the same category 4B Family Deluxe verandah on both the Magic and the Fantasy and knew the sq ft was lesser on the Fantasy. Somehow with the arrangement of the drawers, hooks, and corner knooks, the smaller Fantasy stateroom felt larger.

That's interesting. Our experience has been the opposite. We have mostly sailed in cat. 5B on the classic ships (regular verandah staterooms) for Med., Alaska, Transatlantics, and Bahamas. When we sailed in the same class for the Eastern Caribbean on the Fantasy last year, we found the smaller room to be a disappointment to the extent that this year we booked a family verandah stateroom (cat. 4C) for our Western Caribbean on the Fantasy. We found that even though there was extra floor space in the cat. 4 room, the drawer space was lacking and not well placed in the room for our needs. All the drawers are in the desk, two stacks of three; there is no free-standing dresser closer to the closet and bed. This was for just two adults on a seven-night itinerary.

I would say extra dresser space on the classic ships. The baths in the regular verandah rooms appear to me to be much the same on both classes of ships. The family verandah staterooms on the Dream class ships has the round tub with built-in seat. I thought it took up extra space to no significant benefit, but it's just the two of us using the shower.

my guess would be that the Wonder would have the chest replaced to something similar to what the magic has there in the space

My experience with a regular verandah on the Fantasy was similar. Family of four (1 boy, 1 girl) so bedding and baths great. But the space felt tight (and I've cruised a lot, with 3 women in a room). I hated walking between that set of drawers by the closet and the bed, and then between the bed and our hamper (which we put next to the desk because there was nowhere else to put it). I hang almost everything (and hung 2 additional hooks per person) and still felt that we could have used more drawer space. With heavier clothes for an Alaska cruise and 9 nights rather than 7, the family verandah on the Wonder looks appealing. But it's at least $1300 more. Torn.
