Just back from the Wonder four nighter.... in a word... MAGICAL... only complaint- too short!!! Do not want to be home so soon!!! We went with two children girl(12) and boy(9) and a set of grandparents...

First Day- embark was easy and organized... boat was full so no upgrading to be found... was quite impressed that even in the drop off line up to the port the guards watched for line cutters(cars) and sent them around back.. justice for all ones ever cut on :))) Arriving on the boat we had lunch, made Palo reservations(after lunch and still got Wednesday night), and signed the kids up for the lab... We then went to the deck party ... I was a little put-off by how many kids/people there were... packed!!! Like the MK on a busy day.... was nervous as how this was to work out, but trust me after the first afternoon all is better.... it is just a little overwhelming on that first afternoon :))))

We had an inside cat 11 on deck 6 in the front... perfect location, lab was one flight down, theatre two flights down... the cabin was "so small, but so 5 stars" says my daughter... it is quite compact and if modesty is an issue it would have been quite difficult... definitly pack in small bags to put under bed... and a door holder would never have worked in this room- the bathroom is too small to hang on that door and closet door is in a small hall area about 28" wide... trust me room service needs all 28" to get a tray inside :)

The lab was great for my son- he enjoyed all the free time and video/computer games immensley.. he also like the flubber making and regatta soap boat making... my daughter at just 12 was a bit too old for the lab and there wasn't that many girls her age there... she also isnt a video/computer game junkie so not as much to do... she did enjoy when they went on an activity to the teen place, Common Grounds, but there were only 1-2 other 10-12 girls there.. she would have much more to do if she was 13- their teen program looked great and well attended... ah, the problems of a tween :)))) she did have a great time though with us and tried everything once :)

The shows were ALL excellent... do not miss them.... kids saw Nemo twice... Palo was excellent, must have the chocolate souffle... Castaway Cay is paradise- have to see it to believe it...

Snorkling- we rented the snorkel gear at CC... we didn't have much to go on so the kids and I went out with high expectations and not much of a clue... we made it out to the sunken mast- about 240' and only saw about 15 fish, pretty, but not like any snorkling brochure... made our way back in and thought that was about it... now i knew from these boards there was a sunken mickey and had told them about it, but it just didn't seem worth it from what i had seen... well with his competitive side up the hubby decides after lunch he's taking the gear and the son and off to find mickey... well off they go and they make it all the way out to the white buoy.... when you get there or if you remember this is far,far out, past all the guard docks and they have asked each guard where mickey is... well mickey is between buoy A and B and at the end of the sunken ship... but wait the best part... when you get out this far- further than the majority of people make it- it IS beautiful and there are schools of fish and 3 footers and all kinds of things... so while searching for mickey and taking in tons of sea water, :) , they do have a fabulous father son snorkling experience... so take this advice- go far or go home :))))

Also, check out the adult beach on CC if even for one tram stop- that view will be with me for a lifetime :)))

Enjoyed the wine tasting- free pin... enjoyed bingo- free pin for checking the board.. the characters are EVERYWHERE, so many and easy to get tons of pictures and autographs... highly impressed with this...

we got our free soda mugs from our AAA transfer- no stickers :(
but easy enough for 6 free mugs :)))

My daughter also loved the animal towel making session and is still making us animals :)))) we had an swan, elephant, monkey (actually hanging from the curtain), and a pig... all sooooo cute and the kids loved that part...

Any questions please ask away... and 4 days was just too short, next time a week with a better spending budget :))))

Thanks for the trip report. We are going to be on the Wonder on 6/29 (DH, best friends, their 6 year old and myself). My husband and I have sailed on the Magic twice -- both times no kids. I do have a couple of questions:

Do you know whether or not there was a princess party?

We are in staterooms 6085 and 6087. If your stateroom was in the same area, how was the noise level, etc.?

What time did you disembark at the end of the cruise? After our cruise, we are heading to MK and I don't know what time to tell the limo service to pick us up.

Is there still a fishing excursion listed for the day at CC?

We are so anxious for our trip. I wish we could spend 2-3 days at CC. Both cruises, we spent most of the time on the adult beach. It is so beautiful.

Thanks, again. Jan

Did you try to get your 12 year old in the teen club? I will be going on the Eastern Cruise in December. My daughter will not be 13 until that April, 4 months later. I am going to try to get her in the teen club, but I don't think I will have much luck.

We were in 6085 in December, 2002, and 6083 in May, 2001, and both rooms are great. Very quiet, good location. You can see pictures of 6085 here and 6083 here We tried to get those rooms for Dec. 2003, but they're already booked! We're moving to 7123 and 7125.

Ok double checked my navigators... and no there was not a princess party... unless it happened in the oceaneer club... but cinderella, and snow white were around quite a bit...

Noise level in 6037 was unheard of... never heard anything but white noise from the a/c.. hall quiet, neighbors quiet... great spot :))

Disembark is just so early!!! If you have early seating dinner your breakfast is at 6:45 am, yes thats 6:45 am, for sit down breakfast... if you have late seating it is 8 am for sit down... the boat is cleared about 8 am from customs and then people can start leaving... we got up at 7:30 headed to out last great meal and walked off the ship @ 9am... in the car by 9:25... we were exhaused though and don't know how anyone would make it through the MK that day :))) adrenaline rush??!!! :)

There was still a fishing excursion desk/hut right off the ship on CC so i assume they still have fishing trips...

One more side note and I will try to get to Dave's noisy room list through Dave but the "Grands" had room 1062 and it was EXTREMELY noisy... i had noticed on the noisy room list that 1064 was on it but not 1062 so didn't mention it to them in hopes all would be ok but every 3-5 minutes the first night a VERY loud vacuum sound would occur... mom could not sleep at all... they went to guest services at the prompting of their room steward (who knew about the noise and was very understanding) and by that afternoon they had been moved up to room 2000- a very nice room right in the front of the boat... so much for a "Full" cruise... also outside of room 2000 is a door that says cast members only but they saw it open once and it turns out to be more rooms, Lion Den way????, anyone know what this is, maybe for special crew or entertainers???....

Also, no i didn't try to get her in to the teen club because she was having enough fun with everything else... but i am pretty sure the answer would be no.... everything is age coded and checked with birth certificate at check-in... it says on their card how old they are so really no getting around anything... and i think the teen club was just a bit to old for her anyway... she was definitly "Tween" times :)))

Dh was a little disappointed that I booked an inside stateroom and would like at least a porthole. Are you allowed to request an upgrade when you get on the ship, or can you do it through the travel agency? We aren't sailing until September. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks!

my husbad too decided four days pre cruise he wanted a window... i called and there weren't any- fully booked- and checked again at check -in... still booked... if you want to change call now and upgrade... bigger is always better :))) but hey at least your on the ship... and i would do a cat 11 anytime to be able to go.... but if he's up for it- go for it!!!!

Hi,
We are going to be 1st time cruisers this Sept on the Wonder for 4 nights, and I am a bit worry now reading your description on the cabin size. We are currently booking in a Cat.11 (two adults and a 2-year old toddler)

My question to you is that enough room for us or should I ask for an upgrade?

Regards,
ffeliciano

sure it's enough room... but if you have extra, spend extra... my goal was to get on that boat... it really was fine but we were all very close... if anyone had any modesty issues, i think it would be a problem...
