Wonder--10-day Vancouver to Hawaii 9/7/2015

I booked this cruise the first day it went on Sale! I'm so excited to be going and cannot wait til September!

A little about myself:
I am a Soldier (SSG) in the US Army stationed in Hawaii. I have been married to my wonderful husband Anthony for 5 years. We have a son named Shane he is two.

We have never been on a cruise, let alone a Disney Cruise! We are using this cruise to celebrate a couple of things:

1. finally be able to have the Honeymoon we never had! If you have ever been in the military, you know that your plans do not always match your mission. The hardest part is saving up what is 1/4th of you annual wage for this trip, over a year In Advance praying my leave will get approved! (Which I still have to wait until July to turn in a leave form for approval.)

2. To celebrate both my husband and I getting our college degrees this year!

3. To celebrate our halfway mark in the military (10 more years to go)

4. Our 1st family vacation! Hoping to make this a re-occurring event!

I am very interested in the FE but still do not know my room number yet!
Also if someone could please let me know the details of an FE. What kind of items have people brought in the past?

Well I know I will have many more questions as we get closer!

I look forward to meeting everyone on the cruise. Since I do live on Oahu if anyone has any questions please let me know and I will try to answer them the best I can.

Until then, I hope everyone takes care and God Bless!

There is! If you go to the top right of the Disney cruise web page where is says "Planning Centre" click then click "my cruise activities" this prompts you to login to view your reservation, you might need to click "my cruise activities" again you are logged in. Once in "My Cruise Activties" it will look like a calendar. This is where you can view all your activities as well as cruise ship parties, like the Pirate Party, which looks like it is on day 5. This is the same place where you can book your excursions, children for childcare, reservations at Remy or Palo. Hope this helps you!

How are you able to see the calendar, I've gone into the planning center and the "my cruise activities says I can start booking until 24 June.

Sandy I just wanted to say a quick thank you to you and your husband for fighting for our freedom!!!! It is truly appreciated and its because of the brave men and women like you that I get to be sailing on this WONDERful cruise!!!!!!

P.S. Congrads on the college degrees it sounds like your entire family has a lot to celebrate

Hi Sandy, If you go into "My Reservation" in the planning guide you can click on itinerary and it shows the calendar there. Also, from the planing guide you can click on the "Pre-Arrival Guide" and it gives you a lot of info. You can download it again later, after you check in and it will update to include any excursions or dinners you've reserved.

For the FE there are lots of threads that talk about FEs. For our FE read previous posts in this thread (look for Larry Shepherd) and it will give you some information and where to look for the sign-up. Don't worry about not having your cabin number yet. There are a lot of us who are GTY. Just make sure to update your information with Larry when you get your number. Our FE is pretty casual. No requirements except giving something to each cabin in your group. Some people go all out, others buy whatever little things they can afford and think people would like. Larry is working on dividing up the groups now. We've have fun with FE. I hope you will too.

If you frequent a social media site, that I can't mention here, you can find lots of info for our cruise.

My husband is retired Navy. Hope to see you on the cruise.

Sandy, we would love to get you fully involved in the social group that is excitedly preparing for this cruise. We would also welcome your participation in the FE gift exchange. We can't link to social media here, but the signup for the FE is located in a private group onFB.

I am not able to book cruise activities until June 9th but I was able to see my calendar by clicking on the planning centre tab and it should give you a pull down screen where it says my reservation, my cruise activities, my online check in and make a payment. click on my cruise activities and it should bring up a page that has all 11 days of the cruise and what the cruise has planned for those days ie pirate party until you are able to book your activities and then your activities for those days will appear there. I hope this helps :). Also I was wondering if you know if we will be within walking distance to shops/ stores when we port in Oahu ?
Congratulations on all of the great things you will be celebrating on this cruise!

I'm torturing myself by doing a whole bunch of research for this cruise. This is the longest I've ever had to wait for a cruise to happen and it's killing me. You people that booked opening day or shortly there after I give you major applause.
I know exactly how you feel! I have been doing a count down since we booked this cruise a year ago and it feels some days like its never going to get here and other days like time is flying by since we booked. I also can't Waite until June so we can start booking excursions.....YEAH!!!

Depending on which dock they go to there is a very small shopping area, But not one I would do much shopping at. There is a mall a few miles down the road. I would recommend a taxi or the bus because traffic is really bad on the island and I wouldn't trust walking that far downtown. All the brand name stores are there. Plus there is a beach within walking distance.

Do keep in mind that traffic is really bad on the island and it can take a hour to get 20 miles anywhere, especially downtown. Since we're getting there on a Thursday it might not be as bad but just know that traffic starts to get really bad around 3 depending on which way you are going or coming from.

if anyone is staying on the island after the cruise I highly recommend you go to the "Swap Meet" it's located at the stadium but is only open on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sundays. You can buy all your souvenirs for a lot cheaper than the stores and malls!! Plus if you like to bargain that's the place to do it.

If you like snorkeling, hanauma bay is a great place to go! You can also go to ko olina they have some great swimming areas and I've scene sea turtles there before. It's where the Disney resort is.

Ok, I found the page and am waiting for approval!!

This swap meet does it have souvenirs from the multiple islands we will visit. My wife and I collect magnets and Christmas ornaments and we want one from every port we visit

I do not think so, everything I have seen says either Hawaii or Oahu! But I know all the items are all similar to what souvenirs they would have on the other islands. I do know they do have magnets though, I got my son the one shaped like a turtle made is shells!

As for Christmas ornament I'm not sure if they will have those this time of year but I can look!

I know at our PX they had some really nice Hawaiian ones but not sure if they still have them. if they do I can pick you up one. I also have a friend that ownes a year around Christmas store here on Oahu. It's somewhere on the Kbay side of the island I haven't been there but I can get ahold of her if you would like?

Since we'll be there mid-Sept. I wonder if they'll be cranking up for Christmas? Some places start really early. I hope you can find what you're looking for.

We went on a Western carribean on the fantasy in May and found lots of ornaments. I would imagine a lot of people collect them or maybe I'm the only crazy one. But who cares my tree always brings back good memories :) I'm really hoping DCL will have a hawaiian christmas ornament. I know they had an alaskan one last year

Greetings Fellow Cruisers
I booked this cruise on opening day but didn't want to jinx being able to sail but as we are rapidly approaching our travel date I am getting so excited!
I will be traveling with my sister and her son. We would like to participate in the Fe exchange and I gather that there is more activity over at that other place that we don't talk about. I don't use facebook but am thinking about joining if that is what I need to do. Can someone please advise? Also is there a roll call for our group?

If you don't really hate that other site, I would suggest joining. Most of the activity for this cruise is happening there, although I like being on the boards too. You can set up a profile, then find the group, and ask to join. You wouldn't have to be active on the site otherwise. If you don't ask people to be friends, there will be no activity on your timeline except for the group, which is pretty easy to find. Good luck. Look forward to seeing you on the cruise.

You guys certainly have a lot to celebrate! Congratulations on all of it and thank you for your service! You have chosen the best cruise line as far as we can tell. We did the Barcelona to FL 14 day cruise a few years back and loved it.

Everyone,
The organizer of the FE group for this cruise, CDNDisneyMom, is no longer planning on cruising with us. We wish her well. I have taken over the task of coordinating the FE group. I'll be checking in here every few days to make sure everyone who wants to participate in the gift exchange has a chance to join.
At 90 days before the cruise I will begin to divide the list into smaller groups of about 10 cabins per group. As you are assigned I will share the list of cabins and cruisers in your group. You can participate in multiple groups, just indicate to me how many groups you want to be a part of. We will continue to add people to the master list and assign them to groups until 30 days prior to the cruise. Approximately 7-10 days before the cruise I will post a link to a map of all the participating cabins and the group assignments.
Last minute changes to cabin assignments will be noted on a white board on my cabin door - 2017.
Let me know if you have any questions about the FE gift exchange, or about the cruise in general. I was on the October 2012 Hawaii Cruise on the Wonder and can't wait to do it again.

Hi, I'd like to join the FE group as well, please. Thank you!

Hi, I'd like to join the FE group as well, please. Thank you!
We would love to have you join us. There's a form to fill out to join the gift exchange. I'm not allowed to link to the social media site where the file is hosted and where other conversation about this cruise is taking place but you should be able to find us there if you search for Disney Wonder hawaii september 7 FE itinerary a. If that doesn't work, send me a personal message and I'll get the information I need from you.
