"This is very sad, and what makes it even more sad IMO is that she was on vacation enjoying life and it had to end like that. "

Someone posted the above comment - can't remember who. While it IS sad that she died, what better way to go than on vacation and still enjoying life. I don't particularly want to die on vacation, but better that than lingering on a sick bed.
My grandmother was 71 and died on vacation with me. She walked the beach and cooked breakfast. The next day she died of a sudden heart attack.

good comment Erin... it sounds like something out family would do also so I agree sometimes it helps to laugh ..everyone deals with grief differently too . sometimes a little darker humor helps you deal with something you never would be able to other wise but i guess there are sadness police along with the every other police on the dis. certainly no threat of unity on here any more

..and the OP was grief stricken and couldn't deal with the sad news? They needed some comic relief? :confused3

Actually, she wasn't on vacation. She was there on business for a conference. I agree that those who pass on vacation often are with their loved ones and enjoying time together but in her case, she was not likely with her family on this trip but instead with coworkers or others in her field.

first it is too bad this lady died at Disney but realistically how many 58 yr old ladies die everyday in this country- I'm sure at least one other 58 yr old died in Orlando that day. While she isn't ready for a nursing home 58 isn't young it is prime time for heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, etc. She was a solid middle age. Second it is not normal or healthy to internalize every death. How would Dr's, nurses, paramedics stay sane if they did.

What I am concerned about is how Disney seems to be over-reacting to any death that gets media attention(because there are plenty that don't) and will now make the pools only open when there are guards on duty. And that would effect me.

Actually the most disturbing post in this thread and one I can't get out of my head is the poster who said they had to be trained in cpr for a daycare but they had no intention of using it-that scares me to death! I hope you told your employer this because the thought of you being alone with a child if something happens gives me shivers.Because if this is true you should never be in that position.

BWAHAHWHAHA!

Sure, for a minute I feel sorry for the family of a stranger who dies, but in this instance, I care more about how much the cost of my vacation is going to go up because so many people seem to think tha Disney can control EVERY FACTOR of human existence. :sad2:

And if freedom of speech doesn't give us the right to voice our opinions, what exactly DOES? :confused3

you have a very cute little girl in your sig...how would you feel if people were making jokes about her untimely death b/c they didn't know her? B/c they were more interested in their vacation rates etc...? What you said was sick and not representative of most of those here on this board...or in general I think...seriously...are you that unfeeling? sick...it has nothing to do with freedom of speech as the moderators didn't censor your words...it doesn't have anything to do with holier than thou either...you just seem to be rather heartless. That woman was somebody's daughter, perhaps a mother. No, you didn't know her and no one would expect you to be "sad" per se...but to make unfeeling comments about being more concerned about your vacation goes above and beyond inappropriate. If you can't have compassion, at least show some respect!

hug your baby girl or whoever that darling girl is,and be glad that you don't have to deal with such tragedy...
