I'll admit it depends on the allergy. My friend has an epi-pen for eggs. I'm sure he figures he won't come across eggs and ingest enough of them in a queue line so he does sometimes leave it with a non-rider if he is just getting into line. I could see when he has kids possibly even leaving it in the diaper bag under a stroller and think nothing of it.

I'll be honest, we leave our stuff unattended at WDW all the time, partly because of the false sense of security you mentioned. However, reality is that the stuff we leave unattended is of very little value. While we'd be annoyed if it got stolen, it wouldn't ruin our trip. For example, we bring all of our own food into WDW, we don't eat at the restaurants. So with a family of 5, a full dinner is quite a large bag. Our soft sided cooler is a monster. We stick it in an umbrella stroller so that we don't have to carry it. We often leave it in stroller parking for hours while we hit the rides, then come back for lunch or dinner. Sometimes we'll leave our gear bag too, if we don't need it. It usually contains some of the $1 WalMart rain ponchos, sunscreen, and maybe our kids autograph books (they like them, but they aren't worldly possessions). If someone really wants our $15 umbrella stroller that's now 5 years old...have at it. Want our dinner? Hope you like what we packed. It's a risk we take, and in 10 years of doing it this way, have yet to get burned...even once. But if it ever happens we won't complain much. $50 later and we're back in business.

Do you bring a cooler in for food? Then trust me on this one...keep using a stroller, just for carrying that and your gear if you want. Our cooler is huge. Don't know the exact dimensions, but it's gigantic...it's a soft sided one. It's quite heavy when it's loaded down with a full dinner for 5, including drinks and dessert for the kids. An umbrella stroller is perfect for this. The cooler bag goes right in the stroller seat. The straps of the bag fit nicely over the handles of the stroller, which prevents the bag from falling out of the seat (unless you tip the stroller over). It's super easy to push, and sometimes we put our little gear bag on it too. As I mentioned, we'll often just leave it in stroller parking somewhere and come back for it when we're ready to eat.

Ours can hold 12 bottles of water or some combination of water and juices and then we keep some snacks like grapes, or back when the quick-service Dining Plan came with the desert usually the desserts would go in the cooler for later. Even though it saves us a ton of money and really isn't that big of a bother to me, my husband wants to travel with as little as possible. He always complains about the stroller and the cooler and wants to go without the stroller this time. I told him maybe in the mornings and then when we come back for a break then we'll bring the stroller with us but our youngest is 4 so he's not going to be able to walk the whole time. I think if we had the opportunity to visit more often we'd have our game plan a little bit better and learn to navigate with our stuff better.

I was once at a very nice playground in my home town, with 5 kids under the age of 9. I had my hands full! It was fenced in, and it was a weekday morning. The only other people there was a woman in her 60's, and a little girl. I was dumb and left my wristlet in my diaper bag on a bench, and I tried to keep my eye on it. When we went to leave, it was gone. No wristlet, not car key, a few miles from home. Fortunately I had my double stroller (and I never lock my door during the day).

They ended up catching her (she was in custody when I filed a police report, she stole from someone else and got caught). So, although I feel sorry for the woman who's stroller was stolen, it was dumb to leave her wallet in it.

As for DD's phone, she really doesn't get ticked off, but she found it and it was jacked up. And the expression on her face. It was a present from her dad. Yea, thieves suck.

We had a friend of my sons sleep over one night and my ex husbands phone went missing. We turned the house upside down never thinking the kid stole it. We finally put 2 and 2 together and went to his house to talk to him. He denied that he took it and while we were standing there I called the phone and it rang in his pocket!!!

The thing that blows my mind about the story is...WHY would you leave an epi pen in a stroller?? What good would it do sitting in a stroller if the kid has an issue in line or on a ride?? That epi pen should be carried AT ALL TIMES for the child's safety. I do sort of have to question the intelligence of someone who leaves a lifesaving medical device where the person who may need it cannot access it quickly.

Obviously, no one deserves to have their stuff stolen. But this is a good reality check. We took our diaper bag with us everywhere. The only thing we left in the stroller was our lunchbox that had water bottles in it. Wouldn't have been the end of the world if someone decided they wanted our water.

I was wondering the same thing. My grandson has an epi pen and my daughter has it in a small backpack everywhere they go. She always has the bag on her person just in case. I don't know what kind of allergy this child had but if it is peanuts like my grandson it can literally be anywhere. And since uncrustables are sold at Disney and people bring in their own food it is dangerous not to have it within reach at all times.

I say good for her if she wants a stroller that is that expensive. I cannot wrap my head around it, and could furnish an entire nursery with that money but to each his own.

When DD was stroller-aged (she's 24 now- wouldn't it start a thread if I still took a stroller for her, LOL!!), I bought an umbrella stroller at a garage sale specifically for WDW trips. Figured if someone took it, it wouldn't be much of a loss. I frequently left the backpack in it while on rides, but I always knew that it could be stolen, and not to leave anything in the pack that I couldn't live without. The backpack itself wasn't anything special, so no loss there, either. I kept my credit card, KTTW card, $20, and insurance card in a fabric change purse (from Epcot's China pavilion) that I pin into my shorts pocket. Anything else that got left in the backpack I knew could become fair game for thieves. Never lost anything, luckily. That was back in the days before $600 phones and magic bands, but I still take that fabric purse and a flip-phone in my pockets into the park- the backpack holds water bottles, ponchos, first aid stuff- and I still miss that umbrella stroller for lugging it all around!
