WOC am I understanding this correctly?

I've been through the WOC superthread and am thankful for all the information. I would like to clarify that I am understanding things correctly.

We will be just 2 adults for a girls weekend and neither of us has seen it. I am hoping to use the yellow fire hydrant spot.

We want to go to the 10:15 show in hope that the crowds will have dissipated some by then and it will be less hectic.

So, in order to get a blue section fastpass for the second show I will just have to keep checking back at the fastpass machines? There is no way to request a specific time or color?

This will either be on Friday Sept. 30th or Sat. Oct. 1st. Any guess at about what time (early afternoon, late afternoon etc.) would be likely for the passes we want?

That was how it worked when we were there on Labor Day. We wanted the later show also but they were still handing out tickets for the earlier show every time we walked by. The CMs could not tell us exactly when to come back by (saying there was no way to know when the others would run out) but suggested around 3:00. We finally gave up and went on Tuesday when there was only one show (and went to DCA early to get the blue section).

This is a very special case that no data can predict exactly for the 30th. That of course will be the first MHP night in DL so DCA will be very crowded that evening and even more people will be planning to take in WoC at the end of thier day. The Show Tickets may distribute much quicker than they have in months.

If I were to guess I would stop by and ask a CM what color they are on between 10:15 and 11am a couple times. You may just need to guess.

Also note that the Fire Hydrant is not the best viewing spot though a very good one, also it doesn't save a lot of time especially for the 2nd show, because people all go into the viewing area in a short period of time (30 minutes from show end to start to unload and load the viewing area) compared to the first show were the "planning educated" people are there 75+ minutes before the show to grab rail side views and others show up as late as 5 minutes before and can't find a clear view.

On Saturday it may be a slower FP distribution because there is nothing in DL that will force an extra 10K guests over for the night.

I would not count on the fire hydrant spot. We have tried twice (once last year and once this year) and both times were told we could not stand there, even though we had FPs for the blue section.

The FP machines spit out blue FPs first, but since you want the second show, you're just going to have to keep checking back - they spit out all the FPs for the first show before starting the second.

You could also try going to the place where they sell the picnics. If you reserve one in advance, I am pretty sure you will automatically get an FP for the first show; but if you show up and buy one on the spot maybe they'll be for the second show. You could ask the CMs which show they are offering. I don't know if this is any easier than going back to the FP machines, but it's another option I guess. I'm not sure spending half your day checking on FPs makes it any less hassle than just going to the first show.

Maybe just see what happens on Day 1, without trying too much, and if it doesn't work out, try again with more info on Day 2. If you are REALLY into getting the best spot, I'd try to get a FP for the first show since you can line up earlier if that's what you want to do. The other option is just to go with the flow, grab whatever FP you can get when it's convenient, and show up hoping for the best. I really think it's still a great show even without the perfect viewing spot. JMO!
