We were fortunate enough to have our waitlist come through for a WLV 2 bedroom 12/10-12/15. We have stayed at the WL itself several times and love it but have never stayed in the villas. What are the ground floor balconies like? Are people walking right by you like BCV?
One of our party has tricky knees so I wanted to make it as easy as possible for him but would love some imput. :)

Can't recall that there are ground floor balconies......there are patios on the ground floor, and those are just a small area with some chair sand table (It's not like the Poly or Contemporary, where you can walk out onto a lawn area where kids can play). My least favorite area would be by the main entrance to the villas because everyone coming in would be looking at you. Of course, if you like to people-watch, this would be a GREAT area :sunny:

Most of the villa rooms have a vew of the woods/lake or the woods/bus stop, and people aren't walking directly in front of those rooms. The elevator is right by the front entrance, so if someone has mobility problems, you could ask for a room near the elevator. The main wing has a longer corridor, which would be more walking. VWL are still a relatively small complex, so this is all relative, compared to BWV.

Hope you have a great time --- we own there and love it!

kda is correct...the first floor villas that come out at ground grade level have patios. My recollection is that they have some landscaping around them so they're not completely exposed.

The first floor villas on the lake side of the resort, down the long hallway, are elevated above the ground and have regular balconies as you can see in this picture:

I'm not sure about the balconies, I think the first floor has patios. Anyway, you are there the same time we are, 12/10-12/15 and we are also in a two bedroom.

I think that eople walking by would just be a problem in the area between the villas and the lodge. We've had first floor studios on either side of the longer hall, and there was privacy. Facing down the hall as you are walking in, the ones on the left have a bit more privacy, woodsy look from the patios, there was some sort of mechanical equipment in the view from the patios on the right hand side.

In either side, we were able to just walk around on the grass if we wanted to, but it wan't a public walkway.

We had a 1st floor that overlooked the "bridge" that went from WL to VWL and saw everyone coming and going. I like people watching so we liked it, but it wasn't very private. Ask for a pool or lake view to avoid this.

One thing about the first floor Patios is there can be an issue with creepy crawlies (tiny lizards etc) getting into your room if you leave the door open to people watch etc. We had this issue with this on our recent trip to SSR.

We are not overly squeemish but spending 10 minutes trying to catch a lizard (they move fast) before you go to bed is not my idea of fun.

Are all of the studios at VWL on the first floor?
No, there are studios throughout the resort on all floors.
