This was our first DVC trip to WLV. Some good points, some bad
Check in was OK( No welcome home) Rooms requested together were very far apart.( When questioned we were told to hold on the CM didn't know the DVC rooms) View from the 2 bdr was wonderful. Whispering Canyon was fantastic (traveling with a 2 year old who loved all the activity)

Bad point- transportation was awful. The boats took forever with almost every trip going toFort Wilderness first. Waited for 45 minutes one day to get back from the Contemporary. Started using cabs to get around after that( at least to other resorts) No bus to Magic Kingdom!

Next trip will be to BCV for the location and the air conditioned boats!!

Well of course there was no bus to the MK. Why run a bus that close when the boat to the CR continues on to the MK. We stayed there first week of Feb 02 and waited no longer than 15 min for the boat and it took about 20 min for the ride itself. As far as bus service, we didn't have long wait periods and at least three different busses arrived before our bus to Epcot arrived.

If you are in a hurry to get to MK, we found that at peak times it was quicker to go to TTC and get on the monorail. One day I took the launch from contemporary to VWL and that was fast--but I was the last one on. I agree the big boats are a bummer, stopping at FW first, but it's a nice relaxing break. We try not to be in the hurry we used to be.
We might add on just to spend more time at VWL! The view is gorgeous, isn't it?

I agree that the transportation is really bad and it is really slowed down by the sharing of everything with the campgrounds. As far as Deluxe hotel transportation is concerned it really isn't up to speed. We found that the boat to the CR was pretty quick and we'd take the monorail to MK, or to the TTC to get the monorail to Epcot. The bus to the TTC will also get you to the express monorail to MK. Boats were not all that bad, but the busses were really crazy because even though they were nearly full, we'd still go to the campground so we could really spend quality time very close together! I let Disney know that although the vacation was our best yet, the transportation really needs help. Personally I don't have nearly an hour to wait around for a bus or boat, and I should not have to plan on it taking me two hours to get to a PS or a park, especially with shorter park hours.

Don't get me wrong, the resort is beautiful. But when traveling with a 2 year old losing that much time to transportation uses up alot of "good" time. The view was magnificent. From our room we overlooked the quiet pool and could see the lake. I would stay at WLV again if it was a no parks trip, but Beach Club and Boardwalk are much better with their boat service( to say nothing of the air conditioned boats for this old lady!!)

The boats at BWV may be better but at times the busses can be as bad if not worse. Also we've found it faster to walk to MGM then take a boat. I'm surprised about the not having AC. They did on our last trip.
