Seems a bit odd and certainly too far out for resorts to have entire room categories sold out. Resort View is the lowest category available for the first week of December; no standard view categories are available. Is there something going on at the resort that I am unaware of?

WL is super popular once the Christmas decorations go up. Keep checking though; they may have not released rooms for some reason, and people change plans all the time.

That's what's odd though, because the rooms were available when I booked the AKL a few months ago. That would be a lot of rooms to sell out that far in advance. I'll keep watching. I've stayed there around seven times during Christmas and I agree, it is popular during the holidays and for good reason.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I was under the impression that with Disney’s recent messing around with room categories the “Standard View” category is retired and those rooms are now “Resort View”, but the category itself is still on the website given legacy reservations for the rest of this year. I think that is why it’s not showing any availability in that category.

Very interesting! That could very well be the reason. I'll have to look into that.

I just looked again and it's still perplexing to me. The only category available is Resort View, Water View, and Fireworks View with double beds. No villas, studios, or king bed categories are showing as available. The only club level available is Resort View.

Something is going on with their website I think.

@GADisneyDad14 is correct, there are no longer any standard view room categories. Standard and woods view (I think that’s what it was called) at WL are now all Resort views. Not surprised about no villa rooms, there are not many of those since most are allocated to DVC and the WL is the most popular hotel during the Christmas season. They did the room category change at all resorts, and got rid of the standard room category. I believe they eliminated parking and garden view, too (at other properties) and they are now considered resort view. They can now charge more for rooms with less desirable views. The view change could benefit some, not so much for others. Two different families both paying for resort view, one looks at dumpsters and a roof, other sees a nice garden, same rate. Nothing wrong with the website, the change happened at least 2 months ago.

I went ahead and switched. I needed two beds anyway. For whatever reason, the price for WL went down.

DVC units aren't available until 11 months out.

Besides Club, those are the names of the new booking categories. They recently changed. Not unusual for Kings to be gone at WL, there are not many available at Disney because it’s a family destination. And as the @sponica said, villas and studios are DVC allocated, they won’t show up until 11 months out. Nothing wrong with the website, at least not in this situation!
