WL rooms with King-size beds?

I booked a courtyard view (AAA rate) at WL for my DH's and my first anniversary and put in my request for a King-size bed. I know this is only a request, not a guarantee.

I was told by the CM at the time that ONLY courtyard view rooms had king-size beds available, not standard or woods view.

Here's my question: First off, from someone who may have stayed in a King bed room, was he right?

And secondly, I'm hoping for an AP rate, and if it comes up, may book WL concierge. Do any WL concierge rooms have King beds?

I thought I read somewhere there were only 37 rooms in the whole resort with King size beds, so I guess I'm wondering what my chances are, and if it's OK to change room view to concierge and still possibly get a King bed.

Thanks!

This is a question I've been pondering as well.

I have booked standard, but requested a king bed, but further requested a full bath.

I have been told that most of the king rooms are handicapped accessible, with a roll in shower. I do NOT want one of these rooms, a hot bath at the end of the day is a necessity for me.

SO...as nice as it would be to be upgraded to courtyard view, I am not expecting anything. Also, if I'm offered a king room without a full bath, I'll just stay with my standard two queens.

We had a problem at AKL with this..they honored our King request, but gave us a handicapped room first, so we asked to be changed, and they miraculously found a poolview room with a King bed and full bath. It was our honeymoon, though, so that might account for the extra pixie dust.

I don't mind if it's a handicap-accessible room, but that's interesting that when you booked it, the CM didn't tell you that you wouldn't be able to get a King size bed in a standard view room. That tells me that the CM I spoke to probably wasn't correct about it only being in courtyard view rooms. Good luck!

Anyone else with experience?

Hmm. I don't know!

We booked a standard room at WL and requested a king. At check in, we were upgraded to a poolview room without asking - it was a king. I think we had a handcapped bath but honestly can't remember. Using any tub besides my own icks me out so I only do showers anyways so I can't remember that well!

Maybe that's why we were upgraded, because kings don't exist in standard view rooms?

Hmmm. Now I wonder. We booked a Woodsview and requested a King size bed. I want woodsview not courtyard view. Why wouldn't they say that king beds are only found in courtyard view rooms. That makes no sense.

Here is what Disneys website says:

Most rooms are available with your choice of king-size bed, two queen-size beds, two queen-size beds and one pull-out sofa, one queen-size bed and bunk beds.

Why wouldn't they state that kingsize beds are only available in courtyard view rooms?

Hmmm. I think that the handicap bathrooms are VERY different from the normal ones. It has just a curtain around the shower area, the floor is flush with the rest of the room, so wheelchairs can roll in. Do you remember?

I just think that I would soak the whole bathroom if it were a roll-in, ya know? (Does anyone remember that thread a long, long time ago where someone was fussing about the handicap showers for this reason, and another poster had the gall to call them a "messy showerer"? Hahahaha!)

I went back to my pics - yep, we had a handicap bath. At Pop, we did not (and had a king). I knew we had one in one of those hotels because of the king but couldn't remember which!

It's a HUGE shower stall and a large bathroom. I am assuming larger than "standard" WL rooms but have not been in any other. The shower head is pretty far back in the stall and I don't remember soaking the bath but I'm sure it could happen! =)

We just stayed at WL from 5-14 to 5-20. We had booked 2 standard view rooms. Upon check-in, we asked the CM if we could have connecting rooms. I previously read that there were no standard view connecting rooms, but I wasn't sure. Anyway, she gave us 2 connecting rooms, ours had a king size bed and roll-in shower. I really did not like the shower. We didn't have a problem with water all over the floor because there was a little ridge between the shower and the rest of the floor. The shower head was very low and it was just not comfortable.

I'm not sure about the view situation. We did see trees outside the balcony, but also a service area where many deliveries were made. My mom and aunt (who had the other regular room) said they could see some of the fireworks over MK one night. Our room numbers were 6085 and 6086.

Hope that helps a little!

I do not know why.
I do know that HA with roll in showers are often grouped together with just one view or one building.
At the Poly the HA rooms with Roll in showers are only located in the Rapa Nui building with a garden view . There are No HA CL rooms at the Poly or rooms with a lagoon view.

BC and YC do not have CL HA rooms and YC does not have Water view for
those of us who need roll in showers.

The Contemporary has 1 HA room available CL but that is often booked a year in advance.

See this thread about roll in showers:

Found this thread in a search.

Does anyone know if WL has king bed rooms that are NOT handicapped assesible?
What about these: Standard View/King Sico (Bed folds out from wall): Rooms offer views of a garden, woodland or parking area
Found that information on a web site, not sure which one off hand. Are Sico beds a pain to deal with? Does mousekeeping put them up every day so you have to undo them every night before bed?

TIA

I have read in the WL thread that there are king rooms that aren't HA. It is luck of the draw though. We have requested a king bed during our December stay. Don't care if the bathroom is HA or not.

I just hate that at a "Deluxe" resort you can't book a king room outright. We did last year at CB and that is a moderate. We would gladly pay a little extra for the privledge.

I've been told by a friend at CRO that there are King bed rooms at the WL for both Woodsview and Courtyard View but NOT Standard.

When we went to WL in July, we were originally placed in a King bedroom on the 6th floor, but needed two queens so we were reassigned. We had booked standard, but both rooms were were put into were woodsview rooms.

Hope that helps...I'd love to know some room numbers to request for our honeymoon!

Cheers,
Josh

.

Just an FYI

I do not have the layout of a king room with a roll in shower at WL but here is the layout of a king room at a value with a roll in shower.

Notice that since the bathroom is larger for Handicapped access the sleeping area of the room is smaleer.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

I definitely had a woods view king bed at WL. It was ground floor and faced the otter pond, and was handicapped assessible. The bathroom and shower area was big, but I missed having a tub! I booked a standard and never asked for a king, but got one since I was solo and I guess they needed the doubles for families. The room was in a bad location (too close to the service dock), so I almost wished I could get back what I originally booked - a standard room with 2 queens! :(

But stay with courtyard view - I am going to pay for it on my next WL trip, as I don't want that woods view again! Courtyard view is worth it to me!
