WL Room Request?

We are staying at WL in early Feb. I have read about people making room requests. I would like to make a request but would I am not sure what to ask for . We have a courtyard room reserved. We would like to be close to the lobby. So . . . any advice about what I should request?

Make sure you request the inner courtyard, not the courtyard which faces the Villas. Surprisingly they also consider that a "Courtyard View". See this page:

There are beautiful Inner Courtyard View rooms off the Lobby. I request Inner Courtyard Off Lobby fourth floor.

There is a small balcony next to the Courtyard rooms on the 4th floor that we enjoy watching Bay Lake and the EWP from, as well as chairs around the Lobby just outside your room. There is also a seating area that has large comfy chairs and a fireplace on the 4th floor plus access to the large veranda that is along the front of the Lodge.

If you request "Upper Inner Courtyard" that will get you close to the lobby. We were in 4049, which is on the north wing halfway between the lobby and Roaring Forks. That worked well for us, convenient for either getting snacks or spending time in the lobby. To get that area, request "North Wing Upper Courtyard". You could try to get a "Bear Face" room which is courtyard view but opens into the lobby. I'd love to have one of those sometime.

When I booked courtyard view at WL for our August trip, they gave us a room on the 6th floor. To my huge disappointment I discovered that all the rooms on the sixth floor have an enclosed balcony. When you sit, all you can see is the concrete enclosure. Nice view if you stand, but standing is not what I had in mind.

These would be good if there are small children and safety is a concern. Otherwise, these are not nice. Plus, the room seemed very dark because of the enclosure.

I immediately called front desk and they moved us. We had to wait until later in the day to get the other room but it was worth it. I wasn't going to spend that much money on courtyard view and have to stand to get the view.

They're not the same thing - see the map link in my post above, where each view classification is identified.

Just talk to the CM who is checking you in. When they give you the room....find it on the map...if you are not happy...ask for a different one.

I always book a standard (cheap) room and am usually able to talk my way into a better room.....either a comped upgrade, or at least the best view for the room cat i bought.

I tried that on my last visit, but their resort map doesn't show room numbers and the CM wasn't knowledgable (or forthcoming) about the location, so I'd recommend printing the map above so you can identify in particular what side of the building the room is on.

I tried to talk my way into the Honeymoon Suite, but I guess I left my people skills at the airport.

on my last wl trip, we got to the room....checked it out, and decided we didnt like that one. We were right outside the otter pond, on the 1st floor, and i didnt want my daughter age 4 at the time to decide to go play in the mud.

We walked back to the desk, explained our concerns, and she moved us up to a higher floor overlooking the boat dock.
