We're planning on a November trip (6 nights) and staying at the Wilderness Lodge. There is a fair price difference between the standard view and either woods/courtyard views. What is the standard view? Would you recommend we just go ahead and pay the extra for a woods or courtyard view, or do you think we'll be perfectly happy with a standard view? Also, any room preference suggestions?

Also, we don't want to be miles away from the boat that takes us to MK. Are all rooms reasonably close to that, or is there some specific area we should request?

We have 2 children-ages 5 and 7. We tend to spend all day at the parks, and fall straight to sleep when we get back to the room.

Thanks for your help!

Standard view looks over the 'Service Areas', this could be the parking lot or the dumpster area, etc.

Woods view looks out at the pine trees :-)

Courtyard view looks into the central landscaped area with the pool, waterfall, etc.

We found the woods view to be quite nice. If you stay on one of the upper floors in the 'North Wing' you will be able to catch glimpses of the CR, and the MK through the pine trees, as well as the fireworks over the MK. It is an elevator ride and short walk from there to the boat dock for the MK boat. It is a 10 minute walk to the bus stop for access to the other parks though.

Many people rave about the courtyard view - hopefully you'll get some info from them.

Bstanely -

We have a woodsview room reserved for 11/22-29. When will you be there?

We're looking at the 23rd-30th of November, but haven't booked yet. Still trying to firm up the schedule.

Good luck with your planning. Hope it all works out for you!

Paying the extra $ for the view is clearly a personal choice. We don't spend much time looking out the window, so we don't pay for better views. You also never really know what you'll get - if it's a slow time, you could get a better view for the standard price by just asking. Worked for us.

No room at WL is far from the marina. The hotel is not very spread out compared to most Disney hotels. You could walk from one end to the other in just a few minutes. I disagree about the previous post of a 10 minute walk to the bus stop. I'd say never more than 5 minute walk at the most.

I have to agree with rla5d. The walk is very nice and does not seem that long. We have stayed there the past 4 years and will be there again at the end of October. If you have never stayed there you are in for a real treat. The resort is very nice and remember to try to take a resort tour. They do these in the am and again in the afternoon. The view from your room is totally up to you, I prefer the woods view but we have also had the courtyard.
Have fun planning.

Thanks for all of the info. I just booked our reservation at WL for Nov 23-30 and can't wait!

Congrats Ifwebb for your ressie! You will enjoy the WL. One of the nice things about this resort is that everything is all close together as other posters have stated. The boats, buses, restaurants, pool, and beach are all a close walk away.

They also may have their Christmas decorations up when you go and that is an incredible scene!

Have fun planning.

See you at the WL lfwebb. I'll be the one with a big silly grin on my face!
