We are going to WL for the first time in September.

TELL ME EVERYTHING!!

We have always stayed at AS and are really looking forward to the DELUXE. I have standard view right now and she asked if I had any types of "preferences" that I would like to ask for?? HELP!!

Thanks!

There is a WL FAQ thread on here that just about goes over evertything to do with the WL.

Going in September when it's hot and humid we found that we don't spend too much time on the balcony so I would probably just ask for close to the lobby and as nice of a view as possible.

Read the FAQ on here though. Wish I knew how to link it for you!

trracers,
Is there any specific questions or areas that you want to know about? That may be easier than trying to tell all. For overall info, I also suggest going to the WL FAQ thread, but keep in mind that with the new one and old one, you are looking at over 165 pages of posts.

You are going to love it and be completely spoiled. We just got back and there is something about the lodge we just love. the atmosphere, yummy burgers at WCC, the boat going over to MK. Have a fantastic time.

I have so many questions.
I love Disney, so I am sure I will be thrilled.
Some of my questions are:

1. Is there a foodcourt (we usually do bfast and dinner at a food court and lunch somewhere in the park). Just didn't want to get bogged down with "sit down" meals.
2. Standard view. What should I ask for. Do any of these rooms have a view of MK Castle/Fireworks/Lake Parade? If not, where in the hotel in a standard room do I want to be to be pretty close to elevators/food/etc.
3. I have always stayed at AS, had planned to do CBR and with the FTP decided this would be a great time to do the lodge...hope I made the right decision. . . never even saw CBR and DD was really looking forward to the "castle-looking" pool. She is 5, will she enjoy this pool as well?
4. Does the unlimited boat rental thing apply to bikes too?
5. Any opinions on the Chip and Dale (not chippendale, as a friend misunderstood!!) cookout?

sorry, also looking for the link to the OLD WL FAQ...

#1 - They have a fast food service place, but not a BIG food court like at the value and mod resorts. It's called "Roaring Forks". We found the food to be fine. The place is a little on the small side and others have complained about that but we went during a less crowded time and never had problems.

#2 - The standard rooms overlook the service area and rooftops for the most part. The ones with a view of the castle are Woods View and to be honest there are very few of them where you can really see the Castle since it's blocked by trees. We could see it glowing at night however and if I laid on the bed just right I could see it changing colors through the trees :) I think that the rooms down the hall from us over the service area were "standard". They were near an elevator and Roaring Forks but a ways from the lobby. There are standard rooms that open up into the lobby over the front desk and this is what I plan on asking for.

#3 - She will enjoy the pool fine. My kids did anyway. They have a little seperate kiddie pool (nothing special) and then the larger pool, small compared to some other resorts, but fun with the slide and pretty with the rocks and such.

#4 / #5 - I have no idea! Sorry!

Hope I helped.

Yes, Roaring Forks. It's kind of tucked away, but findable. Good for b'fast.

2. Standard view. What should I ask for. Do any of these rooms have a view of MK Castle/Fireworks/Lake Parade? If not, where in the hotel in a standard room do I want to be to be pretty close to elevators/food/etc.

Not sure about views.

WL pool is a little smaller than most, but it has a fun slide. There is an otter pond to visit and a geyser that goes off hourly. She should enjoy the pool.

4. Does the unlimited boat rental thing apply to bikes too?

Don't know, sorry.

5. Any opinions on the Chip and Dale (not chippendale, as a friend misunderstood!!) cookout?
Didn't do this on our visit to WL.

As for the old WL FAQ ... check the new thread link I posted above. On the very 1st post is a link to the OLD FAQ thread.

WL also offers a lodge tour which is great fun. Also ask about the lodge's Hidden Mickey Hunt.

I found the food court very nice. It was spotless clean and the food really good. Now picture this me and DD who just turned two on our beds (we stayed on the 4th floor) eating croissants and getting crumbs all over the place. Oh they were yummy! Pool was small but DD didn't mind she just loved the water. On past visits we have always requested the first floor as we found them so convenient and always had a nice view. The electrical pagent I think goes by around 9:20 but check with front desk. I know I've said this before but the lodge looks so gorgeous when coming back to it on one of the boats and it's night. The way it lights up, wow!

The Unlimited family recreational plan does include bikes,, but not the surrey bikes :)
