We are going to DW in Dec. this year(first time ever for x-mas). We are a family of 4 but the kids are 6 & 10 and usually share a bed anyway. We currently have a 2 bed villa booked at OKW but now have a chance to change that to WLV in a 1 bedroom. Everyone says WL is so beautiful at X-mas. Should we do it? Is the 1 bedroom villa at WL just like the Boardwalk villas 2 bed. lock off situation just losing the studio side or is it a dedicated 1 bedroom?:confused3 :confused3

The difference in size of rooms from the OKW to the other villas is huge. OKW has great room size and the resort is relaxing and peaceful. Is there any way you could plan a meal at the WL? That way you could see the decorations and experience the atmosphere of the WL, but still have all the room at OKW.

If you can get The Villas @ Wilderness Lodge for a Christmas visit do it now. The Lodge & Villas are beautiful all year long, during the Holidays it is even more Magical.

At the VWL they have both dedicated and lock-off 1 bedroom villas available, if you click on the link below you can see the lay-outs and villa locations.

Good Luck

Make the change. You won't be sorry. The one-bedroom villas are very roomy and comfortable, you'll be a boat ride from MK, you can enjoy the electrical water pageant, you have a boat to Contemporary and Fort Wilderness, and the WL lobby is truly something special. Plus, you have easy access to Artist Point, one of the best restaurants on property.

I'm going to agree! WL is hard to get in to at certain times of the year so grab it when you can. OKW and SSR always have available rooms so you can grab OKW next time. By the way, the OKW villas are the biggest of the DVC resorts! I loved it when i stayed but I'd pick WL at Christmas! The WL villa will most certinaly be big enough for your group of four, as its not a one room but instead a one bedroom........its like a 750 square foot apartment: kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, laundry closet, etc.

I would not change a thing. The rooms at OKW are fantastic. Very spacious and a totally relaxing atmosphere. Great place to recharge after hitting the parks. Maybe you could book a dinner at WCC and visit WL then.

I'm just going to add that I note you're going at Christmas. Oy! That's a terribly busy time. Given that, I would absolutely switch to WLV, so that you are just a boat ride from MK and don't have to deal with overcrowded buses.

I do think the WL is lovely at Christmas however, that is a packed time of year. Having the relaxed, laid back, spread out nature of OKW to escape to would be nice. To me that would be better than the location factor of WL and every time I take that boat, it is so slow!

Also, being wintertime, depending on where you live, you might enjoy having a tropical feel that time of year. OKW villas are very nice and spacious but I don't think you can make a wrong choice. You can certainly dine and enjoy the WL during your trip.

But in the end, for me personally, if I could get a 2br vs a one bedroom, I would never switch! Even though your kids share a bed, having the living room be just a living room and having two bathrooms would be so worth it to me.
