Awesome shadow boxes Sunny & Paul!

It is still bothering me - why yesterday's 32 min. w/r was so hard. I mean, a month ago I finished DL for goodness sake! My feet also felt somewhat sore afterwards. I know I don't have too many miles on them, but did I read here that you should replace them after 6 months no matter what? I've had them just about 6 mos.

OT - I was beat last night, I went to bed at 8:30 (still not early enough for a 3am wake up, but still). At 9:30 I must have heard something outside and woke up. I decided to get up and see what was going on. I looked at my window and saw what I thought was a cop with a car pulled over in front of our house. I went out to the living room, and Chad wasn't there - but the side door was left open. So, I looked out the front picture window. The car hit the telephone pole at the edge of our yard and knocked it down! The wires were laying across our vehicles! Apparently, the kids were drunk and after the crash, they ran off on foot. (cops did find them later) The car was stolen. Oh, and they took out the neighbor's mailbox too.

Right when the crash happened, Chad ran outside with the phone. The guy who witnessed it yelled to Chad to call the cops because the kids were drunk. He did call 911, and then in his rush to get to the car to see if everyone was ok, he stepped on the down wires. He didn't see them! OMG! THANK GOD they were not live!

Also, had the telephone pole not been there... I really think had they not been stopped by the pole, they would have hit our house, probably at Zack's bedroom (based on the angle they hit the pole at). Zack sleeps with his headboard against that very outside wall where I think they would have hit. :sad2:

So, I am going to push today's 30 mins. xt to Saturday. I need to get all the rest I can since there wasn't much sleeping last night with flood lights and heavy equipment just outside my bedrrom!

I have had a @#%#$^#^! virus on my computer so I havent been able to get online this week. I have newly installed virus/spyware so hopefully all is fixed. I missed you guys!!!!!

Traiing is going good & mom & I have started a weight loss competition, so I will definately be joining the WL thread. I cant believe January is getting so close, I am getting so excited :woohoo:

Kristi-OMG! That's awful. It could have been much worse, I'm glad everyone is o.k.

Sorry, I've been gone too long to catch up with everyone but WELCOME to our newcomers. THis is a wonderful team and I couldnt have done my races without them (or even started training for them) :grouphug:

Someone had asked about the 5k on Friday. We will be there. DH & DS8 are doing it along with my dad & 2 nieces. My son has also got the racing bug since I started doing this & had done several 5k's and a kids marathon. They did the 5k last year & I'm hoping since they have moved it to a different day that it will be better organized and not start 45 minutes late! They had fun thought & got a great t shirt & medal out of it (although the kids were mad that it was plastic & not metal like mine)

Today's a rest day. I have a meeting at the school then cleaning for mom coming tomorrow. Plus I have a costume party tomorrow for my best friends DH who is turning 40. I'm the Queen of Hearts with flamingo croquet mallet & all! I'll try to figure out how to post a pic.

Happy training!

Congrats to all those Training for WDW and other races keep it up. I love reading all the reports. :thumbsup2

Kristi :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: OMG how terrifying, especially realizing the danger Zack might have been in if the pole were not there. I'm sure you went off to work a shaken mess. Hopefully they will find the kids and do a better job of swift justice than Mass does

Also, about your run. You can expect "stonkers" (for newbies, that is a term we learned from Helen to describe a bad run). No matter how far along in your training and how much performance improvement you make, you will have some royal stonkers along the way, its just part of the process. The next one will be great :wizard: :cheer2:

Dave-- great run! You've come so far since you first joined the team :cheer2:

TiffJ-- sorry to hear your computer hasn't been feeling well! :badpc: Glad to see you back!

Paul-- I love how you did your medal ribbons on the side and the medals pinned by themselves. I don't like how my ribbon covers so much of the background. Maybe I'll do some redecorating :rotfl2:

Sunny

Tiffany just reminded me about someone asking about the 5k. Chad & I are also registered to do that. Zack will be doing the kids race on Friday too.

Sunny - my sister has applied to Trading Spouses. They told her after all the interviews & such that they'd call her if & when they find a good family for her to trade with. If they get picked, my BIL is in for the shock of his life. He thinks my sister sits around eating bon bons all day since she "only" cares for their 3 kids and babysits more!

That so funny! There has been much talk around here of speculation of what type of familiy each of us would be paired with.

We have another guy here who is on a wait-list for Survivor!

Kristi--OMG-how scary for you and your family. Glad to hear that no one was hurt! :grouphug:

Well, I was laying in bed this morning telling myself that I was too tired to get up and workout today. Then I thought to myself, I will get on the computer to check email and notice a new post to this thread, and it will motivate me to lace up and get out--and you know what, it has! Will be heading to the Community Center in an hour or so (or whenever DS decides to join the land of the living) for a 4 miler! Thanks for all the support and motivation!!

Love all the shadowboxes btw! :thumbsup2

Good Morning TEAM: :surfweb:

Greetings from Atlanta! My pace was a little slow because I didn't always know where I was going, and because there were lots of HILLS!!! I didn't know Atlanta was so hilly!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Funny you should mention that! I ran 8 miles last night and was a little worried around mile 7 when I realized I hadn' packed a parachute and had no idea how I was going to get back down to my car. I swear we ran up hill the whole way! Where did you stay? Where did you run?

Hello Everyone-

I have been bad, and not posting. It seems like I have nothing to report but actually I have been making amazing leaps in my training. So here is a brief summary of the last three weeks:

R-5-6-5-R-8-5
R-5-8-5-R-10-5
R-5-8-5-R-12-5
R-5-8-5

For those of you that have doubts if you can do this - I ran my FIRST 8 mile run on September 30th and I am running in a half marathon on Sunday. I now run farther than I drive most weeks.

My first 10 mile run seemed easy so it was a big shock when 12 miles was SO much harder. The 10 was on hills and the 12 was relatively flat so it really surprised me. I am a little worried about the half marathon but I am treating it as a training run and I am not going to worry about time at all. (yeah right)

I have found that I really like Jelly belly sport beans. I like the lime better than the orange. They really work for me.

For anyone in the Atlanta area - I am running the Awesome Alpharetta Half Marathon on Sunday.

Cecilia

Last night we went grocery shopping and got home very late. Today being a training day, I like to have all my things laid out the night before. And seeing as how I just got The Kayanos (Say this with awe and reverence... :worship: The Kayanos... They have taken on a life of their own in our house.) I brought them to bed with me.

DH: "Uhhh, what are you doing?"

Me: "Oh I have to fix the laces"

DH: You don't intend to sleep with them, do you?"

Me: "No, but actually, they don't take up much room."

Poor DH. I think, well, really, I think....He's jealous. Maybe because when he got home I had them sitting on their box on top of the bookcase with the light shining on them. Maybe because they got a bigger greeting from me when I got home then he did. :teeth:

Today I did 45 min on the TM, doing R1@5.0/W3@3.8 @ 1%. Yes....in The Kayanos. They ARE wonderful! My feet wanted to have a cigarette when we were done. :smokin:

Kevin - You made me laugh so hard yesterday! :lmao: I had to go home and tell DH what you said. Ohhh, now that I think about it, I better stop. I may go home to find The Kayanos dangling out the window. :scared:

Sunny - Oh Sunny! Your shadowbox is GORGEOUS! Can you make them for all of us? :teeth:

Cam - What new shoes did you try? :)

Paul - Wow! You're FAST! :thumbsup2 Ohh your shadowbox is gorgeous too! And yes, I can tell when your phone rang!

Disneyfanz - Excellent! I am very proud of you!

Kristi - OMG! That's SOOO scary! Thank goodness you guys are all OK.

Glad you guys are OK...anywho, is it your shoes you have had 6 months??? GIRL! You so need to replace them. Every 300-500 miles....and that depends on your weight too. I replace mine every 3 months for me and don't wear them for anything except running.

Still not working out today. We are tapering for the adv. race this weekend. My parents are coming to watch the boy, so I'm cleaning house. They are bringing a couple w/ whom they are friends to stay here too! Nothing like vigorous house cleaning and race preparation!!!! I decided that i'm not really cleaning house, i'm just looking for my bike tool (i lost it this week and i think it is in here somewhere) That will at least make me feel better about the whole deal!!

Kristi - sorry about your crazy night. I'm so glad everyone is ok. I have been so weird about picking the room in our house where the boy sleeps. I didn't want him in the back br b/c it does not have a good way out if there were a fire. I put him in the front for that very reason. I haven't factored in drunk teenagers!! I did factor that in later though and that is why i have decided that when he gets older he cannot move to a room in the basement. Too easy to sneak out and for others to sneek in! (which way do you spell that? It looks right both ways!)

Sunny - i've never heard of trading spouses. It sounds insane. I would never want to do that!!! they would probably just find a way to publicize all of my bad habits!!

Judy - maybe you should post of pic of the beautiful new shoes!!!

Is anyone in project runway trauma??? I was a little surprised by the result. If you met me last yr., you know i'm no fashionista. I'm a jeans and race shirt kind of gal, but i really liked that show.

Thanks Melissa, but what I really should do is stop talking about them. I fear I am becoming......obnoxious. :joker:

Kristi -- I am so glad everyone is okay, sweetie. Just sent up a prayer of thanksgiving for you and Chad and Zach.

I LOVE everyone's shadow boxes.

Cecilia -- I am so outrageously impressed with your running schedule. WOW!!! You go, girl! :cool1:

I am so conflicted about the shoes!!! They are Brooks Ariel that were just put on the market last week or so. You can check them out here:
Cam's new shoe

Aren't they pretty? My son, the cross-country runner, said they look so much more comfortable than my "boats", which you can see here:
Cam's "slippers"

But, if Judy, who swears her feet are wider and flatter than mine, loves her new Kayano's, I am thinking I should give those a fair try, too. What do you guys think?

Judy -- Can you give me the exact name, model number & whether you got the women's shoe or went with the men's shoe for the extra width?

nucpharm29 -- So glad you got motivated. Isn't it just awesome to know that someone actually cares whether you got out there or not? :grouphug:

Melissa-- Good luck this weekend, sweetie! Oh, and BTW, I am thinking Howard's probably wishing someone would come to visit because it might actually motivate us to make time to clean our house. I think we would be able to write love notes to each other by now in the dust that covers everything. UGH!

Tiffany -- So glad you're back, sweetie! Hope your computer is feeling much better now! :goodvibes

Well, I'm glad I got out their and did my 4 miles today--actually ave. 9:48 a mile--woohoo!!!!! And I felt like I could keep going--thanks to a little motivation from my Ipod and a little Shakira!!! Now I feel like I can conquer the world--or at least handle my 2 rugrat for the remainder of this yucky rainy day!

MelR--good luck this weekend--I'm not really familiar with Adventure races--is it something we come stop over and watch or not? I figure we're just down the road from Burns Park and I planned on jogging the River Trail on Sat. anyway! Good luck with the house cleaning

Judy--LOL about your husband being jealous of your shoes! I need some new shoes myself, maybe I'll try them out--years ago when I ran my 1st and only 1/2 marathon I LOVED my Asic Cumulus, need to try those Kayanos!

Well, now it's time to hit the showers and find something to fix for lunch! Have agreat day all! :sunny:

Wow Kristi, that is really scary..thank God they didn't crash into your house. Glad to hear everyone was ok.

Speaking of shoes, I just bought a pair of Solomon's the other day, but need to take them back. I have the worse time finding a pair of sneakers that do not slip on my right foot. I've tried insoles, but the right shoe always slip up and down on my ankle. Very frustrating.

How do I post a picture, from my email, to here? Good luck with training this weekend.

**anyone else getting snow?

Ummm...Judy, I think we all get a little obnoxous when it ocems to our shoes. I remeber a big purle shoe discusssion last year. ;) Post the pic! Even better, maybe you can get dh to hold tehm for a pic! ;)

LOVE teh shadow boxes! All our pics adn bibs and teh Mickey portion o fteh mylar are in my scrapbook. Still don't know what to do with teh medals. Scott's is hanging on teh mirror on our dresser and mine is in a basket. We have no wall space, though.

Did 10:12 last nigth on our 45 min. We traded and did 45 wihle we felt good, so we only need to do 40 tonight.

Nikki - Welcome!! Thanks for your story! I'm in Spring Lake, but let me know if you want to come over.

Kristi - OMG! Glad everyone is safe!!!!

Sunny - You threw everything out?? Thank goodness dx came to the rescue!

OK, need to go run some errands. Have a good rest of the day!

Hi Cecilia - I was trying to remember who was from the Atlanta area. We stayed in the Embassy Suites at Centennial Olympic Park - really close to the convention center. One day I ran from my hotel, up and around the Georgia Tech campus, back to my hotel, and around the convention center and Georgia Dome. The other run I ran from my hotel, up Peachtree to 10th street to Piedmont Park, around the park, and back to my hotel. About 6 miles each day, and they were tough runs I tell you.

Actually, I didn't think there was another human on earth that felt so strongly about Kyanos :rotfl: Then again, maybe its the alien in us... I hugged my first pair. I just joined roadrunnersports VIP and order my NEXT pair  :woohoo:

Speaking of shoes in bed. DS(6) was so excited about the first day of first grade, he snuck out of bed after I tucked him in and put on his new shoes! I snuck back in and took them back off. When I woke him up inthe morning, they were back on his feet! I guess the whole shoe thing must be a genetic disorder :rotfl2:

Yes. Don't take quinolone antibiotics unless the doctor proves to you the bacteria you have is identified and known to not respond to anything else.

I'm totally serious. My PSA
