Wk of Nov 6--2006 Disney Half-Full Marathon Info/Training

Hi everybody!

Did 65 minutes on exercise bike tonight. I'm really getting into a groove with the bike/elliptical training.

Cam - the bike ride doesn't get boring for me becuase I ride while watching my favorite tv shows. :)

During the summer it was great because I'd turn the tv on the Tour de France and ride along with Lance. When they climbed the hills so did I (not as fast or as long, though). I had great workouts, then the Tour ended

Lisa - HAPPY BIRTHDAY girl! :cool1: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Terri

Happy Birthday Lisa!!!!!

Terri-great job on the bike!

Not really any news to report today is an off day. (and those aliens that have inhabited by body dont even want an off day, they want to exercise)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LISA!!!!

I did 2.5 last night - have had knee issues since Monday's short run, so took it very slowly. It's my left knee on the outside of the kneecap. I had an injury in college, and have had to be careful ever since. I even wore my knee brace to run, but didn't seem to help. UGH!!! So, today I will try to get to the aquatic center for xtrain and we'll see how that goes. :)

Hope everyone has a great training day!!! P and PD for all the injured!!! :wizard:

I'll be watching Maximun Exposure at 5 tonight and Wildest police chases at 6 on Spike TV for my 100 minute walking . It keeps me going without boredom.

Happy Birthday Lisa! :cake:

I am still resting my hip. I am going to take it easy this weekend and only do a short walk (probably 3 miles). Depending on how I feel, I may do a 12 mile bike ride on Sunday.

Garmin Alert: sharperimage.com has the Garmin 201 on sale for $99.99 with free shipping. What a deal!

Happy, Happy Birthday Lisa!!

4 miles for me this a.m. I am kind of getting frustrated at the nagging pain in my left foot from the plantar faciitis. It is tolerable, albeit annoying, and I am trying my best with the icing, stretching and ibuprofen.

I am scheduled for 9 miles on Saturday and 17 for Sunday, so I may rest tomorrow in anticipation of that.

I am running to the mailbox daily looking for the elusive race packet. The suspense is nearly killing me!! Anyone who gets their packet, please post so those of us suffering can take comfort that it will not be much longer!!

Happy Birthday Lisa! :bday:

Hope anyone with out a Garmin caught that alert by TXBelle! That's a great deal!!!

Has anyone ever ordered from them before? I've been wanting to purchase one and that is quite a deal.

I tried to order but the shipping came up as 14.95. Is there a special code or something?

Sara - here's a little tip for the plantar fascitis problem (it worked for me).

Years ago I was having severe pain in my foot. Could not even put my heel down when I walked. I went to the foot doctor and he checked it out and told me I had plantar fascitis.

First he wanted to give me shot (NO WAY! :earseek: ) Then he was going to put it in a boot. I asked if there were any other options. He told me to wear high heel-ed shoes for the next week to see if that helped. (I'm not a high heel person, but it was the best of the three choices). He said wearing the heels would keep the pressure off the tendon.

I did that and it worked like a charm! :) Only once since did I have a similar problem. Out came the heels and the problem went away.

It's good to know those heels are good for something!
Terri

Terri - Thanks so much for the advice!! I am not much of a high-heel person either, but my job definitely affords me the opportunity to wear them. I would be so extremely grateful if that's all it took to solve my problem once and for all.

I need some action!!!!! I'm resting this week until the adventure race on Saturday. I'm going crazy. I need you guys to post your athletic exploits in detail so I'll have something to do!!!!!! :confused3

Hey, Melissa! Sorry you are getting cabin fever! My current athletic exploit is getting up and going to the water cooler as frequently as possible. The wall of windows in my office is distressing because I can see a gorgeous blue sky with puffy little clouds and I know it is nearly 60 degrees and I WANNA GO FOR A LW!!!!! How pathetic! You have my sympathy! Or is that empathy? :teeth:
Doing 40 minutes tonight and speed drills "the right way" -- I had been doing 1 min fast walk/ 2 mins normal. Should have been 30 seconds/1minutex4. What was I thinking? Looking forward to giving it a try tonight.

Hey, I have a question. How far in advance of a workout can you stretch? For example, I usually stretch at home before I go out and sometimes I am starting my workout from our driveway and therefore going directly from stretching to exercise. Other times I stretch at home and then drive 5 -10 minutes to my starting point. Worst case is, like tonight, I will stretch in my office after I am changed and ready to leave. Then I walk to my parking garage and drive to my walking location, which takes about 20 minutes. Are the benefits of stretching lost in that interim? Do I have to wait and stretch at the start point? Or stretch some more when I get there? I wasn't sure how long muscles stay "warm" and stretched.

aaaack!!!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Hubbies flight got cancelled so he won't be in until much later. At the time, I posted a thread on the DIS--and someone had to tell me about someone's husband who died on their birthday. Well, since my hubby still has a flight and a bus ride--HELLOOOOOO!!!

Thanks for the well wishes though! I'm off to the gym!

Shirt Alert:

I was just informed that the tank tops are not recommended for women. The picture is deceiving and the armholes are very large. Please let me know if you would like to switch to sleeveless or short sleeve. I'll send out pms later, but if you want to pm me first, that'd be just dandy.

Sorry about this everyone!

Hi guys.

I haven't posted in a LONG LONG time and I apologize about that. Christy's (Chropistopy, my cousin) and my training is going pretty good. We've battled a few injuries over the past few months but everything seems to be turning out ok. I have been keeping up with all you guys though. You all get me motivated to get my rear end out there when I don't feel like doing anything and you just don't know how much I appreciate that!!!!

I want to remind everyone to PLEASE PLEASE be extra careful when running in the dark. I know alot of people are having to do their training in the dark because of the time change. There was a girl here in the Atlanta area this week hit by a car and killed because she was out running at night and didn't have on any reflective clothing. Just a word of warning to stay safe.

Happy training everyone!
