Chris: Congrats on doing your 5 miles, even if it was inside on the TM.
Jen: What a great Mother's Day weekend, at least in terms of DD's behavior. Too bad about the cold, but I think the family time seemed almost perfect. And I'm so glad you got the opportunity to run in the campground, as it seems to have broken your burnout. It sounds like you're recharged for your upcoming 1/2!
Jackie: Woo hoo for the new shoes, you certainly deserve them, especially with a 20% discount, a typical teenager in the house, and DH's unplanned work. I hope the shoes were one of the highlights of your Mother's Day.
Tracy: Well, it sounds like you're just having a good time right now exploring all the possible directions your racewalking could take you. I didn't mean to put pressure on you to define yourself, so I hope you didn't take it that way. I was just impressed with how far you've come in the sport and how quickly, and wondered if these last few races had given you a sense of your goals.
Amykab: Congrats on getting back in the TM--and I think the DL 1/2 is one heck of a motivator.
sailors_wfe: Welcome!

There are a lot of us here who did C25K or are currently doing it. (And there's a C25K thread on the main WISH forum for those moving through it.) It sounds like you have a good fitness base and are building an even better one. I think the Princess half might be a good race for you--and it's the inaugural. You could do the January Half, but it would be through a charity group or Anthony Travel. As far as training, I

to FireDancer/Frank's comprehensive reply!
Jim B.: Thanks for the wise words about hydration. I think that's so important for all of us to remember as late spring/summer race season ramps up.
Leana: I just have to add

to what your DBF said. You're a pretty incredible athlete!
Aloha Jeff: Thanks for the reminder about National Ride Your Bike to Work week. I'm hoping, maybe predicting, a lot of people will participate this year. Gas is hovering at $4.00/gallon here, with no signs of stopping. Your commute from DD's school to work sounds about perfect; the reverse route, not so much. Your Sunday plans sounded absolutely idyllic, and a great way for the Queen to spend her Mother's Day. It's always good to be cooked for. Plus, the meal sounds like it worked out pretty well for you, too! You both earned it!
Thanks for breaking down your training--it's pretty intense, but I'm filing the information away for me for Goofy 2010. Of course, I'll probably forget the details by then but remember I can always ask (bother) you about what you've done. Um, right?
Cam: Okay, so I think you should call the buying the reception shoes a success! You have to build up your endurance to actually try on and commit to the girly shoes, right? You're doing so well with C25K that it's no wonder you're looking forward to W4D2!
Rich: Wow, what a great background story. Welcome back, and I look forward to hearing more about your training and progress. I'll be the the Cleveland 1/2, wearing WISH green!! So I hope to say Hi to you, although I think you might well leave me in the dust!
Carrie: Ah, you know me so well. I've now moved into the ice creams named after alcohol, as things are going so swimmingly in the housing hunt.

How do you feel about Rum Raisin? As for your 5 hilly miler, I'd say that's better than "not too bad." My legs are sore just thinking about it. And I know what you mean by intermediate yoga being advanced. Some days, even a beginner class moves too quickly for my little brain to process!
Krista: Oh, now I want to do the Flying Pig next year precisely because it's organized, and I know I'd find the wide range of walkers & runners fascinating. My issue with the Pgh Race for the Cure was mainly that it seemed to do a disservice to both the runners and walkers by not holding the walkers to the official start, especially because the two courses merged 1/2way through.
Wow, I think your pregnancy is doing great things for your creative thinking and planning processes, if not for your sleep cycle. (Not that you needed any help in those first two areas.) You've mapped out your entire training plan for year! And it sounds like a great plan to keep you running, prepared for January, and in great overall shape, too!
Allie: Congrats on your great time in the practice for your Cotton Row 10K. What an accomplishment, and you've made such progress in a short period of time. You should be proud--just like you did the team colors proud.
Frank: Oh, I've decided that the expo is the only way to judge your fair city. Can you fulfill my bottomless need for more gear, that's my question. Who wants a key to the city?!

As for the Pgh Cure, I know it's more an event than a race--that's been my experience in other Cures--but see what I said to Krista about not enforcing the start. Just seems like it would be easier on everyone involved to have an official walk start.
But as for far important things, The Pub. Where is this wonderful football (soccer) bar? Any chance it's near the downtown area? I'd love to tell DOOD about it, especially as the race starts at 7 and we're staying over in Cleveland until Monday.
Bride Michelle: I totally forgot about having to sneak pics of the dresses. Thank goodness for cell phones. I think you should have left your DF for a few hours--after all, what's more important, him or the dress? Or better yet, sharing the pics of the dress with us? Harumpppph. I suppose that's love for ya!

After you're married, I'm christening you Wifey Michelle, okay?
REgarding the Pilates, I know Amy has said Winsor is fine if that's what you have, but prefers
Pilates for Dummies. I've seen both, and I have to agree;
Pilates for Dummies offers much more instruction if you can't get your mom to a class. As for your pace and distance, I don't know whether to hug you or be jealous. (Can I do both?) You're doing really well and after only 2 1/2 weeks. It sounds like it's all clicking with you--and I really can't help but celebrate for you!
Morgan: The race participants as a cattle herd! Hah! Just put a cowbell on me and call me home! Exactly. That made me laugh out loud, and I'll bet you did too when you wrote it. My question is, does laughing out loud make your back hurt. From what you've described about your pain, I'll bet it does. And so, onto more seriousness. There's NO WAY you should run. I know exactly what you mean by fearing any missed run will be a huge setback. But don't let yourself by guided by that fear. You need to avoid doing anything that will cause more pain and perhaps injury. Please wait until you see your chiro. (What Krista, et al. said.) Promise?
MSDave: That's right--the Disney trip interferes with your plans for Cleveland! That's not fair...to me! I was looking forward to meeting you.
Judy: It's great to have you back. You managed to convey what a great time you had in in under 30 words. And managed to tucker me out, too!
CarolA: Well, it sounds like the Galloway session was giving you a little unexpected speed work. Congratulations, I think??!! I hope your internet is stable and you're back on regularly.
Lily: Glad to see you posting. We miss you around here. I hope you're not experiencing a bad case of the post-Minnie blues.
Jeanne:
for the college graduation celebrations and for posting back here to announce you're back on track. I wish I was a Survivor fan, but it never really caught my eye.
Joan: Good job with the 5 miles. Are you planning on signing up for more races in the near future? If not, maybe a new activity to complement the running? That's what DOOD and I are considering, as the gas prices are going to affect our discretionary budget and we're eliminating some of the local, shorter races we had been considering.
Karen: I can't imagine you as a slacker, or anyone else who did the Minnie and who are having problems getting back into the groove. I just think you're all observing a properly respectful mourning period for the event. Oooh, and preemptive congratulations on the new grandbaby!
Ms. Duckie: First, I've been meaning to thank you for all the work you put into the Minnie photo crib sheet. I haven't seen it, but it's such a cool idea. And you've been so generous with your time! Second, I'm so glad you had a good time at the Minnie (as we all knew you would). I need to read your TR, so I'm glad you're putting some pics in it. I think I read them for the pics.
Scott: For the record, although I certainly think those who prefer vanilla ice cream are sophisticated hipsters, I do not believe that means such persons aren't deeply decadent individuals. In my experience, it's been exactly the opposite. I'd be far less convinced of your dark side if you told you ordered B & J's Dave Matthews Band Magic Brownies or Cold Stone Creamery's Cheesecake Fantasy. It's you vanilla lovers that have something to hide. So to my mind, you're a dangerous one, you are. You may be riding a bike, but my image of you is more "Easy Rider."

So....tell me about your July trip..... I've been reading your TR, but haven't commented on it yet. Probably reading too much subtext in there.
Jules123: Welcome to the WISH Team. Congratulations on your first 5K--great time--and planning on the Princess 1/2! It looks like we'll really have a sizable WISH contingency there. If you want to join one of our smaller, challenge teams, just PM Windwalker "the Panda" Dave. He'll hook you up! But keep coming back here, as we're a chatty group with members from all the smaller teams and then some!
Shan: No driving for 3 weeks? Wow, talk about some enforced gas-saving. I hope it also gives you a chance for some much-deserved pampering from your family. Plus, I'd think all that recovery period will give you exactly the motivation to get right back into training (assuming your doctors okay it and PT goes well).
Dave: I think it's a great idea to hang out over on the main section of WISH every once in a while. I don't know lots of people over there, and I kind of feel like I'm missing a whole lot of cool people. (Oh, and you all know I think you're cool people, so don't think I'm bored with you!

) Thanks for reminding me that the DIS and WISH aren't one-stop destinations!
Mel:
Great to hear from you--and another
Pilates for Dummies viewer. I think those people owe Amy some commission, don't you?
Amy: Great to see you here again! I need to post over on your journal, as soon as I think of something insightful to say....Don't expect much of a RR of the Cleveland 1/2 from me. I'm afraid distances make me a bit of a dumb bunny, and I won't be able to remember much. I'll be counting on DOOD's much better memory to help me flesh out things. (Um, that wasn't casting aspersions on Jessica's Rabbits, btw.) As for your running plans, I LOVE them. The details on our days vary, but it's the same general plan DOOD and I have for the next couple of months.
So I applaud your decision and am excited to hear how it works for you. And if I catch you getting all serious and unhappy about running in the next month or so, I'm going to give you the same "punishment" that I've threatened DOOD with: you have to run your next race as a costumed runner--in the costume of MY choice.
As for me: Okay, so I realize I wasn't the poster child for the Pgh Race for the Cure. It wasn't a bad event, really, just nothing like any of the other (smaller) Race for the Cures I've experienced. I really wasn't going into it in race mentality, either. The whole floating start thing just really threw me. On the upside, I heard wonderful things about the Philly RftC, from Nancy (padisneyfan), and am thinking I'll do that one next year. Now that one sounds like a party!!!
And Pgh is supposed to be getting its marathon back in 2009, after a several year hiatus. If it does, I'm issuing an invitation to all of you to come to my home where I'll give you a tour of the city. Or at least 26.2 miles of it. At your own pace. Bring an umbrella, because it'll probably be raining. And I might stay in bed.

I will buy your post-race ice cream, though!
More serious question here, and this is for all you folks from Cleveland or who are familiar with it....Any suggestions on good restaurants to eat, preferably with some vegetarian dishes? The Cleveland event is turning out to be a mini-family get-together, with my ILs and some of DOOD's cousins. So we'll be doing some entertaining, and the larger the group the more indecisive the dinner plans are. So....what are your thoughts? We'll be staying downtown, near the convention center and the baseball stadium.
