Mel: I want to make sure I get this in this week.
Happy Birthday!!!!!
You deserve a cake AND ice-cream party! Favorite flavors of both?
Bill: So sorry to hear about Timmy's accident. It's good to hear that he's over the trauma, even if you and Linda will take a little longer to get there.

It does sound like you're dealing with the incident with your usual aplomb, though.
Jackie: Mmm, Dole Whip. What a good happy place. And your pic is so portable! Your biking idea (and Terri's) sounds like just the thing to shift up a routine.

Working out for 8+ consecutive days? You are the woman, woman! I assume you're feeling great by challenging yourself like this and hope you're not overtraining. (It sounds like it's the former, as your plans indicate, so woo hoo!)
Kristi: Impromptu camping trip?? Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun, if of a non-relaxing type. Still, active vacation getaways are good. And the Christmas in July sounds cool--hopefully in more ways than one. What is the campfire treats for a Christmas in July, btw?
MBMichelle: Wow, your DL 1/2 training sounds grueling. I'm certain the TM is less pleasant than being outdoors but safer in that weather. I missed wishing you luck on your tri, but hope it went well and the heat wasn't too oppressive today.
Terri: Yep, better to get that one mile in than nothing! And given how hot and sweaty it's been for everyone, you almost make being caught in a downpour sound refreshing! As I'm sure the sight of you was for your co-workers.

Remember, athletes have the last laugh with our healthy, toned bodies.
Tracey: When did you acquire the moniker Racey Tracey? I hate missing good stories!

How's that plan for the DL 1/2 shaping up? I guess you'll have a better sense after Sunday's 10 miler--I hope the weather clears up for you so that you can get a sense of how it works without the TM. From what I read on your training and RRs you look to be in very good shape, weather notwithstanding. (I mean, you'll be more acclimated than many, but it's still gonna be tough, I think.) And how are your NB902s working for you? I'd ask how the Edy's is working for you, but I think I already know the answer. (Tonight is Karamel Sutra for us--long after it counts as a treat for running!)
Maura: I saw my very first Electrical Light Parade on my April trip. That's worth staying at the WL, I think. Very nostalgic. How's the stretching and foam rollering working for you?
Stephanie: Indoors sounds like the way to go right now. Plus, you're getting all that good XT classes in, you and your abs! (I'm still looking for mine--as I think they're an urban legend.) Your Zumba instructor sounds very good, in a challenging kind of way. But I like the idea of just Zumba-ing for the dancing! After all, the fitness kind of club I belong to is the only kind of club I go to, so if I want to dance it's got to be there.

P.S. One of the things I think is so cool about your posts is that your DD is part of your active lifestyle, and that she's going to grow up with that mindset.
Carrie: Better is a great thing to report. Each day, we're working on getting a little better. And 75 minutes is nothing to make light of!

I hope your FIL's prognosis is good--how's he feeling. And how are you and Scott?
Kevin:
for your sciatica and "guy" response. It's no consolation, but I can see myself doing the same thing if I were in your running shoes and so your story works as a cautionary tale. Thank you, but I'm sorry it happened to you. I'm glad to hear you're on the mend, still dedicated to the Goofy, and looking at being 100% by the time training starts. Oh, and thanks for the permission to keep you posting. I like to think I have a nose for tracking people down, sort of like Sam Spade--and not like a bloodhound. Your 2 miler--pain free and in that heat--predicts good things for your running. Take it easy!
Frank: Frank, where you been? Not bogged down by football right now. Hopefully it's because you're doing lots of fun things that you're too embarassed to share here. Forget your inhibitions. Do tell!
Ms. Duckie: I'd love the biscotti recipe. DFIL loves biscotti, and it would be a tasty holiday treat. What do you do for weddings? Take pictures? (What great pics, btw! Is it me, or do DH and Robin have the same expression?) Oh, and 23 pounds of blueberries in a couple of hours? You should go pro! I love the POR because of the boat, too. We rent a car, so we don't deal with Disney busses. Just not worth it for us. On a side note, I'm so positive you're going to love WL that you'll never consider POR again. Do, do, do the Cali Grill even on an early reservation. Great service. And you can hang out afterwards with a drink to see the sunset. Beautiful.
And I've felt vary gratified to read you've been off the couch....I only "nag" you so that I feel obligated to leave my very comfortable futon, which is just set up perfectly for DVD-viewing in air-conditioned comfort.

I actually envy you the variety of your workouts and activities that are real-life (not structured) exercise.
Jennifer: Frozen yogurt. Mmmm. Basically, if it's frozen and dairy I'll eat it. Or dairy-like. I'm not choosy. I missed wishing you luck on your race, but hope you'll post a RR on it! I'm sure you did well.
Aloha Jeff: I've been meaning to say this, but it really does sound like running with Guru Les has its benefits. Your pace is great as is the ease with which you describe your runs!

Oh, and ice cream is a way of life, a calling, an avocation if you will. I'm sure many would agree: you, Tracey, Scott, Mel, Carrie, and....
Howard: Great race--and phenomenal first mile split. (That hill--ugh is the nice word for it.) Do you know how you did in your AG? No matter, you ran a great 5K overall, and for a good cause!
Angie: So good to see you back here. Congrats on your 7 miles! I'm glad you're really striving to avoid pushing yourself into a reinjury. You're making improvements, not only with your running and pace, but with listening to your body. I hope you remember that. I'm sure that all your XT is helping you recover. What kinds of training plans are you looking at? And what about DH, who has his own injuries if I recall?
Liz: I find it helps if ice cream is on the "to do" list. I hope your weather holds up so that you can run outdoors. I feel so bad for everyone who hates the TM.... Good luck with tomorrow's bike ride!
As for me: It's been hard for me to post this week, what with the LTO and DOOD's idea that summer is for beach-blanket bingo and other assorted forms of seasonal fun. We went for our first gallery walk Friday, saw some of the local artists' work. It was fun, but hot. Today's been a scorcher, so we ran to the gym, worked out, and ran home. It sounded like a good idea at the time, splitting up our runs. But running to the air-conditioned gym is a much better idea than leaving the gym, already hot and sweat, and running home when you're already tired. My time on the second run isn't worth talking about, except to make everyone feel speedy in comparison.
Now we're off for a walk now that the sun is setting. It'll end in the above-mentioned ice cream. Big surprise, huh? I'd say that's what summer is for, but we do this year round.
