Wk of July 6 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Jennifer - :welcome: Good luck on your 5K Friday!

Jen - Congrats on the 2 miles. You were probably due a break, but you're right, getting started again is no fun!

Duckie - I'm in your happy place with you. The wallpaper on my cell phone is a picture of a Dole Whip!

Terri - I could have used you to draft off of today. I joined you in the Tour de Living Room, and when I got tired I had to pretend you were there to take a turn up front. DH and DD kept laughing at me and telling me I wasn't going nearly as fast as the riders were, but I kept pedaling along. (I only did 1:10, but it was a decent workout)

Lisa - Definitely meant Va Beach 2009. Apparently exercise is not helping my brain stay focused... :rotfl:

pixiedust: and  for everyone dealing with ailing parents.

Martha - We've missed you!

Judy - Two miles is two miles. You got it done.

Casey - That half sounds like fun! We did a 5K on New Year's Eve that started at midnight and ran through a holiday light display - it was a totally different experience!

I pretty much said it all in my post to Terri. Rode the bike for 1:10 - 19 miles - while watching the Tour this afternoon. I hadn't done any cycling for 4 weeks, so it was good to give the legs something different. I'm scheduled to do a 3 mile run tomorrow. Also have an appt with the chiro in hopes that he can work out the kinks in my calves before my LR on Saturday!

Jackie

Duckie - :worship: amazing posts catching up with EVERYONE! :worship:

Debra
- :worship: you too! :worship:

The monkey brains are really not that gross. Just red & blue jello all mixed up / chopped up, and a few gummy worms thrown in for fun. ;)

I didn't get any exercise in. :sad2:
BUT, I have been on the go all afternoon, getting ready for an impromtu camping trip this weekend. Just yesterday my friend and I decided to take the kiddos and leave the hubbys home. (we aren't the brightest bulbs - we should have sent the kids away with the husbands & stayed home!) It should be fun, we are going to Santa's Village again. The campground is having Christmas in July this weekend. Everyone decorates their sites, they have a yankee swap, and hayrides with Mrs. Claus. Too cute!

Just stopping by to say Hi!

Trying to keep up with my training for the DL 1/2 is very tough in 105 heat and air quality above 210, but I'm trying. I really do hate that treadmill, though!

I also signed up for a triathlon this Sat... :headache: :sad2: :scared:
Hope everyone else is having a better time with their training!

Tracey - sorry to hear about your Dad!

Jennifer - Welcome!

Jackie - Glad you joined the Tour!:)

Casey - welcome back from vacation

Kira - enjoy those cool Maine nights. It's gonna be sticking hot in Philly this weekend (just in time for my race):scared1:

I decided to skip the Tour today (and give my booty a break :lmao: ), so I took a change of clothes with me so I could get a r/w in after work. I only planned on going 2 miles. I got back to my office and I was soaked - no, not from being a sweaty WISHER, I got caught in a downpour. I had only gone about 1/2 mile when the skies opened up. There was nowhere to go for cover. So I turned around and headed back to the office. What a sight I was. But 1 mile is better than nothing. Tomorrow I have a friend's B-day dinner in the evening, so I'm gonna have to get up early to getr the run in before work. ugh!

Terri

Just a quickie for me...

Debra: You can PM me any time for any reason!!! :) Glad to see your back in reply mode and gettin it done,

Duckie: Hey girlfriend...nice to see your smiling Duckie face around here. You going to WIlderness Lodge, I'm jealous!! Where are you guys staying for WDW Marathon weekend?? Any word about helping with gear ordering?? PM me if you want.

Michelle,

The temps are air quality(from the fires) are tough to get out in. This afternoon our eyes and lungs were burning from just leaving home to car.

Luckily we got our walk early am before so bad.

Robert, you mean to tell me that Tahoe is getting smoked out? Or are you now in Sacratomato? Michelle, Roseville too? Yikes, stay inside

I thought the fires were in Napa and Big Sur.

Welcome Jennifer, and any other newbies I may have missed. :welcome:

Ms. Duckie, great imitation of Deb's novel postings! :woohoo:

Deb, great imitation of Deb. :lmao:

Tracy, sorry I missed sending your dad good wishes as well.

Jeff,

In Sac rehabbing knee. I was at Tahoe last weekend and ugly up there too.

Fires in Northern CA valley and with winds blowing down to us:(

Duckie I loved staying at Wilderness Lodge (better than Animal Kingdom). We had a room that was on the end of the wing facing out to the water (there are like four rooms on a little "stub" wing perpendicular to the main hallways). Every night I could watch the Electric Water Parade (or whatever it's called) from my bed-Sweet! And have a Dole Whip for me (or even a Pineapple float)--I will have one back for you next month when I'm there (Aug 11-17 at OKW) And the border crossing was by car--coming back from MA we go through Ontario--its' never a problem to get into Canada, just getting back into US.

Casey What a cool sounding 1/2! I think that could be suitably scary too with the right special effects! And beach running sounds really good--although much more work--6 miles probably felt like 12!

Bill Ouch on the teeth thing! Kids are resilient though. When our daughter was at Girl Scout camp several years ago, she fell off the bunk and chipped her two front teeth (permanent ones). She was upset at the thought that we would come and take her home! Quick check with the dentist, who said "no problem" and we left her there. Of course, we subsequently had her teeth bonded and veneered--they look great, but no corn on the cob anymore!

Michelle Good luck on your tri! Looks like my goal to do one will have to wait til next year--but I guess the bright side is I'll be in a new age group!

Did 0.5 miles today and 50 minutes of weights and stretching/foam rollering. 'Nuff said.

Maura

Debra--lots of prayers and PD coming your way for your Dad!

Duckie--Let me know how you like WL. We are staying at the villas over Labor Day weekend for dniece's bday. We've never stayed there before either, but are really excited. DS loves boats, so being able to take the boat to MK was a big plus

Got in the gym yesterday. Just can't workout outside right now. There is a reason that the Little Rock Marathon is in March--you don't have to do any major training in the summer. We did have a cool down yesterday--all the way into the 80s! So, I opted for the bike. Did 7.1 miles and then about 15 minutes of leg weight work. Today will be abs (what are those again?) and Zumba!

Did someone say s'mores? :lovestruc

Ducky - GOod to see you!

Deb - Yes , that was teh local half I debated on. So glad I did it.

SOrry, my brain is really fuzzy today adn remembering what I read isn't happening so well. :(

I did 60 min on teh bike adn abnother 15 min run. Better today than Monday. NOt great, but better.

Hi everyone!

I must apologize for my long absence.... things have been a combination of extremely busy and not so great around here the past little while so that has really limited my time available to post. Thankfully it looks like most of those issues have been worked through, so I'm back in the saddle...

A couple of weeks after the huge fiasco of Minnie Weekend, I developed a pretty significant case of sciatica. And being a guy, I decided the only way to take care of such a thing was to ignore it and keep on running through the pain. That didn't work so well... so the past six weeks have been a combination of pain killers, chiropractic ART, acupuncture  and rest.

I finally got the all clear to get back out on the roads this week and while I'm not back to 100% of where I was, I think I can get there before "official" training for Goofy begins.

I know that I have a ton to catch up on, but I miss my WISH training family :guilty: (and hopefully they'll have me back... ;) ) and I give full carte blanche for you all to hunt me down like a dog if I stop posting again. After all, if I don't post.... well, I tend not to train. And this year, I'd like to be able to walk the week after Goofy.......

I'm off to catch up on the past two months of posts... I think I'll need to take notes...

All my best and Happy training,
Kevin :earsboy:

Oh Kevin! First off....(Where's that whacking-Kevin-for-not-taking-care-of-himself smilie???)

I have missed you soooooooo much!!! :upsidedow You'd better PM me with your contact information so I don't have to rely on your posting to kick your butt all the way to the Goofy. :woohoo:

Now, what I think you need is a really good massage.....OK it might not help the sciatica but it can take your mind off the pain for a while. ;)

Oh you poor thing. Gently

Kevin - Been meaning to hunt you down since Minnie Weekend, but my life has been a bit chaotic too. So sorry about the sciatica!!!  Good to see you again!!!

Just wanted to do a quick drive by to say hi and wish Deb’s dad a speedy recovery, or at least as speedy as possible. I say Booooooooo cancer!

Woohoo! My Macbook Pro is working again! (temporarily) Some kind of screen issue where 2/3 of the screen goes gray and has vertical stripes. Applecare thinks it's probably a hardware issue, but I can't take it in until next week and they can't make appointments that far out....

Anyway, I'm here. My workout today consisted of picking organic blueberries for a couple hours (23 pounds). We're supposed to go walking later tonight, but DH is grouting the backsplash (which looks great, I must say!).

MiaBanda: Hi!

Terri: Sorry to hear about the delay in Tour de Living Room. I bet even with a day off, you're still winning. :)

Racey Tracy: Hi! We haven't decided on marathon weekend yet... If it's up to me, it'll be Beach Club! I need to contact Mel about the orders, but I saw a post that they usually start a little later on that...

Robert: Good to see you up and about!

Aloha Jeff: Thanks, I try. Deb has set the bar high, I must say!

Maura: I told DH that you loved it; it made him feel a lot better. He really did not want to stay at POR because he hates all the bus stops--I know he'll love the boat! You can be sure I'll have that Dole Whip for you, too!
3e9ea51f.jpg

Canada...I didn't think of that. :) They always asked me a lot of questions to get back in, too.

Nucpharm29: I will post a trip report, I promise! (and this time, I'll back up the dang photos!).

Carrie: Hi! :yay:

Kevin: PD :wizard: for your pains! Way to keep training!

FireDancer: Hi! :)

Still have time for tonight's workout, Deb...

Debra- Yes the two addictions are Disney and Running. (although I'm more of a frozen yogurt girl myself).

I ran 3.2 miles in 30 minutes this morning. I had plan to do 4 but got caught in an "isolated thunderstorm" and headed back early. My race isn't until tomorrow night but I'm already getting fidgety.

Hello all...
Maura: Sorry to hear that the Ortho was useless. Keep at the PT - it will make a difference!

Jennifer - Wellesleyprincess: Welcome, Come on in and join the party. Good luck at your race.

Jen117: 2 miles is 2 miles no matter how you write it. (see previous). I guess your break is over so get out there and get to it.:)

Kira: Glad to hear the training for the Phiily Run is coming along great.

Casey: That race, the ET Full Moon 1.2) sounds like something I would do. Have much fun.

Bill: How is your son's tooth??

Duckie: Thanks so much for the best wishes and pixie dust. For someone who has her summers off, you're a busy little lady. Keep up with the walking. I think that's cool that you do weddings on you time "off."

Debra: Yeah, I'm still modifying my "Summer 08 - Attach of the Humid Heat Wave" training program. I'll see how it works.

Kevin: Kevin......hmmmmm..., Oh yeah, I remember you, I think. Nice to have you back. Take care out there in our lovely S.FL heat and humidity!! Hope the beach is cooler.

Jeff, Amybeth & Scott, Michelle and all others...::wave2:

As for me: Still working on my summer 08 training program. I was at my happy place after work today for 4 miles - Mount Trashmore and yes I was a dirty girl when I got home. Loved it but the sun was pretty warm and my face was not only red but almost purple!! My new program I take Mondays off. Walk 4 miles on Tues, Thursday and Friday. Wednesday and Saturday can be core work, bike riding or swimming. Wednesday I did 20 min in the pool.
Trying to get my plans settled for what I'm doing during the DL 1/2 weekend. Almost there.

Take care everyone.
