Wk of Dec 24--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hi Everyone -

Well, we are back from Christmas at my sisters. We had fun, the kids got way too many gifts and we ate too much of the wrong stuff.

I am liking this taper thing! Although I think I am going to go nuts next week when the mileage really drops and the BIG event starts to loom large!

Anyway, I wanted to say hi and check in before I take myself off to sleep in my OWN bed. I hope everyone is healing nicely!

Cecilia

Evening folks!

Judy, Cam, Bill, Kristi, Karen and Lily - Thanks for the kinds words about the boys. I'll pass it on to them once they wake up from their naps. :confused3

Heather - Hoping you and your DH get well soon.

Mel - Glad to hear the orthotics are working out.

Cecilia - Glad to see you back.

FYI - FOudn a 15-day weather outlook from allears.

http://wwwa.accuweather.com/forecast3.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0&zipcode=32801&metric=0

OMG. I'mm gonna' die. Low of 60, high of 78 fro Sat adn Sun.

BTW, ghave I mentioned that I hate NWA. WHen they changed my flight, they didn't give me seats. NO seats together, except rpemium. No problem, they' doen enough tome, they can gove me those seats. 45 minutes later, I was told sucks to be you by 2 more people and that no one can help me. If they are available 24 hours before the flight, I can try.

So, I treied again to get out of NWA's grasp, but no other flights worked. WHen I went back to teh NWA site, though, I magically had seats. :confused3 OK, if someone could help me, even if the cahance was remote, why didn't they say so. :confused3 MY head hurts now.:headache:

I'm off, Scott's making popcorn and a stiff drink. (FOrgive me this last indulgence, it's formedicinal purposes.)

Did anyone see that according to weather.com, it's supposed to rain on Friday, Jan 5th??? Not good!!!!:sad2:

Hmm, I saw rain for Saturday night which translates into a wet marathon start. I guess that is appropriate since I was just commenting that I haven't had to run in the rain much during this training. Me and my big mouth jinxed us.

Thanks for the welcome back Vic, I am glad to be back! I love my family but it feels good to back in my own home again. Not to mention I ran with my team last night which was nice. Everyone felt sluggish after the holiday so we ran slow and steady. It made me feel strong - like I could run forever - nice to feel 10 days before a marathon!

Hello all! Well, I'm now on my third pair of new shoes--will see how they fare later today--I ended up with the Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6--I also tried the Kayanos, but the Brooks felt better--Go figure! Anyway, also got some new running clothes--PD to all those under the weather! Also, I'm getting green with envy of all of you travelling to WDW this next week! I'll be thinkingn of you all!

Carrie - I'm sorry about your flight headache. Have you seen the movie spanglish? I love the scene where the mother is going to have a drink and her daughter informs her that it is not even 10 yet. So, mom watches the clock for about 15 seconds to see the second had move the clock to 10 and lifts her glass and has a drink!!

I woke up feeling sick today. Bummer!!

I have not done any exercise since the saturday b/4 Christmas. I think i'm taking taper a little too seriously!!

Heather -- I am keeping you and Kevin in my prayers!

Lily -- so happy to see you here. Sorry work is crazy. I know what you mean about getting all the bills done. I have to do that and end of year charitable contributions tonight, since we leave for Pittsburgh tomorrow night for Christmas with Howard's family.

Sending pixiedust: to everyone who is sick or ailing.

Thanks for the weather update, BTW. Guess I'll be packing my bright yellow WDW 1/2 marathon rain jacket. I was really hoping not to need it, but it is so light (and bright!) that it is better to pack it and not need it.

I'll go add running clothes for possible rain to the packing list thread.

I am so excited to see John B. on Friday. THank you, Krista, for posting the time! It was absolutely packed for his talk last year, so plan on getting there early if you want seats! I don't think this will be like DL where we had the luxury of "hanging out" with him and Coach Jenny for about 15 minutes after their talk to a 1/2 empty audience. I am sure this will be wall to wall people.

Mel -- So glad the orthotics felt so great, but sorry you lost your data. I've had that happen and it really stinks!

Carrie -- How cool that you got a champion chip! What a thoughtful gift! I am so sorry you are having such a hassle with your flights! I am hoping it all comes together for you quickly and easily.

No training last night. We did dinner with the kids at Jake's Hamburgers and then 2 movies back to back with too much popcorn. Lots of fun, though, since Jenn heads back to campus on January 2 and we'll be away from Andy for more than a week. It was nice to spend the time together and the movies were awesome -- "Rocky Balboa" and "A Night at the Museum".

More later. Work calls.

Good morning.

I just want you all to know I am in a full-blown Taper Tantrum this morning. I am cranky and irritable and EVERYONE and EVERYTHING is getting on my nerves. Not you guys, but you know what I mean.

I did 40 min on the TM this morning. 30 @ 3.8 @ 1% then 10 @ 4.0 @ 1%. The entire time I was so tired and I kept asking myself how the heck am I supposed to do 13 miles next weekend when I can barely even get thru 2.5??? It was very unsatisfying, annoying and irritating.

I did, however, wear my new Kayanos that I just got for Christmas. They are hereby dubbed Kayanos2. ;)

Bill - If Billy really gets bit by the horse bug, I'll send you copies of my vet bills, farrier bills, feed bills, hay bills.... Not that that ever stopped me. :teeth:

Whoa! Tiff left already??? :drive:

Karen - Oh we'll be at Kona 9:00. Nuts, you'll be long gone by then. Charlie and I will be by the Beach Club too to cheer on the Full. I intend to be fully obvious to them. And probably everyone else! :rotfl:

Carrie - Your own personal ChampionChip! How cool! :cool2: So professional! Oh nuts. I just paid $8 for a fleece at Kohl's last night. It's kinda nice so I'll hate to just toss it. I also got a CASE of "body bags" from my dad. So if anyone needs HUGE trash bags, I got 'em! Oh it looks like it's going to be rather warm on Saturday. So I won't be styling in my new Pearl Izumis. Darn.

Krista - OK I must have missed something. How do we know John Bingham is going to be at the Expo on Friday? Is there a schedule somewhere?? Rain? NOOOOOO! OK, I'm embarrassed to admit this but I haven't run in rain yet!:confused3

Oh Heather - Oh no! :wizard: Did they give DH some antibiotics? I always get stupid bronchitis and they put me on a Z-Pak right away. It works miracles! I had my gallbladder out a long time ago. But I sure do still remember the pain! I had it in my back. I swore I had gotten stabbed!

Kristi - Yeah, Charlie is something else, isn't he? :cloud9: I think I'll keep him. Ohh now I have to go to Target! Maybe tomorrow at lunchtime!

Lily - Everything will get done. Don't stress. :goodvibes I was going to pack last night - or at least start - but everyone decided we needed to go out for Chinese food, so..so much for that plan. Tonight I am getting a haircut. As Charlie said, less wind resistance! :lmao: But I'm just taking things one thing at a time. And doing only those things that MUST be done before I go.

Mel - Oh I'm glad the orthodics worked for you! :thumbsup2 I have some but haven't tried them yet. Maybe after I get back.

OK well, I just polished off a Snickers bar and it's only 11:00 in the morning. Ugh.:sad2:

I just noticed in your siggie that you are going to Longboat Key in the Spring. Where are you staying at? We stayed on Lido Key (basically the same place) in December.

Greetings Team:

OK, well I dragged myself into work for the first time since last week. I'm feeling a little bit better but still not 100%. Judy, I know how you feel. I barely have energy to run 30 min on the TM, and I keep thinking "how am I going to make it through a full marathon?" All right, this must be part of the taper, but I'm really starting to psych myself out. My princesses, DD5 princess: and DD8 princess:, are sooooo excited for the trip to WDW (we leave 1 week from today), but I find myself getting more and more nervous. Everytime I hear them talk about Disney I get a little twinge in my stomach.

I'm full of self-doubt right now, but I guess I'm committed at this point.

Dave and Judy -- that sense of intimidation and foreboding is very normal. I remember so well experiencing it last year so I am not as freaked out about it this year as I was last year. Except now I am asking myself what the heck I was thinking, thinking I can do 26.2!?!?!?! I just have to keep reassuring myself that we've trained all year for this and race day adrenaline and fresh legs will literally carry the day.

BTW, Judy, I was thinking last night of how "b----y" I am feeling and I think it really is related to the taper. I am sitting in my office looking out my wall of windows at a gorgeous sunny day and am outrageously peeved that I am stuck inside when I NEED to be outside wogging. It's a shame I have to work to support this new obsession. I am actually exerting mental effort to not snap at everyone who "bothers" me.

Krista - Thank you very much! I find it amazing that I missed that thread! Where the heck was I?!?!?! Wow, all those famous people! Now I need to have a good look at our schedule again.

Dave - Yeah, I think this is normal during a taper, but I don't have to like it. have the "Taper Traps" RW article at home and I think I need to reread it.

Cam - Yes! "b----y" is EXACTLY what I am today! Its all the more worse (Hey! How do you like my command of the English language?!?!?!) because Charlie and the girls (the stepdaughters, not the horses) are going to the aquarium today. Yesterday they went to a matinee. The day before to the mall. Every morning I get ready for work and the three of them are on the couch in their pajamas having hot chocolate and watching a movie and off to work I go. :guilty: Every morning the girls keep asking me "Do you HAVE to go to work today? Can't you stay home and go to the mall/movies/aquarium with us today??" It kills me. Then I come in here and sit in solitary confinment. I can't even surf "New Posts" anymore!

OK I'm done being a "b---c".

No. I'm really not. I just said that.

Something is sapping my brain cells. I couldn't figure out why feeling BusY was so bad. I had to work on b----y forever to figure out what it was.:confused3 Not that i'm never labeled that, I'm just not that great at hangman:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Thanks Cam and Judy for the support. I think I'd feel a little more confident about going 26.2 miles if I didn't feel so drained from this darn cold and flu. It's very frustrating, but hopefully my legs are recovering while I'm sidelined with my sickies...

Ok, that's it! Absolutely no cleaning until after WDW! I crouched down last night to reach behind the toilet, and pulled a muscle in my leg:confused3 Talent I guess.....now I am limping like crazy. Not exactly how I want to spend my taper!

I can't believe how close it is! I've started to lay out all my stuff to bring and it is turning out to be quite a collection. Still going to be prepared for cold weather just in case.

DD and I land in Orlando next Wed at 11PM (yes 11PM). I've never travelled that late, but it was either then or very, very early on the next day. I let my DD21 choose, and she preferred (naturally) to travel late rather than get up super early on Thursday.

Anybody have experience using ME and arriving this late? I've gotten different advice from two CMs, one recommending letting ME handle the luggage because at that time of night they will deliver it very quickly to my room, the other one recommended picking up our own luggage and taking it with us so we don't get disturbed by a 2AM delivery. I'm leaning towards doing it myself just so I can be sure to get some uninterrupted sleep. The plan Thursday is to sleep in, hit DTD for lunch, be at the Expo when it opens, and then the 7:15 showing of HDDR.

I know Cam mentioned taking it easy in the parks before your event, but that is so hard to do!! I think Friday DD and I are heading to AK to do EE and we will be back at Pop for our WISH dinner. Then we are heading to MGM to see the Osbourne lights. This is one of the last nights they will be working, and I highly recommend going! The light display is absolutely amazing.

Saturday I will be in Epcot to cheer for our half WISHers and then DD will meet me and we will either do Epcot or MGM. Of course NOT commando style! And with plenty of rest stops to enjoy the Christmas decorations and people watch. Sat PM will be an early night for me, if she wants DD will go off on her own, as long as she doesn't go to MK. I want to be there for that moment standing at the start of Main Street looking towards the castle! This will be my 24th trip to WDW, and I always get choked up when I look at the castle...every time, every trip.

Pat -- I had a CM at DVC Member Services tell me today that a late night arrival would probably go better if you didn't use the tags and claimed your own baggage and took it to ME. He said there are a limited number of ME trips after 10 pm and it is conceivable that luggage might not be delivered until 2-3 hours after you arrive at your resort. I can tell you, absolutely, that I would claim my own baggage. Sure, it is a hassle managing it yourself, but it takes away all the variables. I would think another option might be to carry a carry-on that has everything vital for overnight and early morning and then ask the front desk to hold your ME-transported luggage until the next morning.

Oh, and I am so with you on seeing the castle for the first time. I cry every trip when I see the castle for the first time.
