Wk Of Dec 23 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Just popping in to find not-so-good news......
Jackie, Lily, Leana: sending pixie dust to all of you so you'll be in perfect shape on race day.
I've been waddling around on the walking thread.

To all the pretty princesses who had yucky training this week: A big part of the taper maddness is the self dought. Don't, do it. Even if you didn't run you would still raise the beauty level of the park. But you will do fine, once those fireworks start and we go forward it will all come together.

Mantra for today if you go waking or running; "Relentless forward motion".

Helen I can't wait to listen to you at Disney, Kim our Canadian friend has a wonderful accent but you "Down Under" folks have the best accents ever.:yay:

Lily I feel your pain about LTO, we had a great training week in Gatlinburg 2 weeks ago but since then it's been almost dailey, all day, rain. If not rain it's freezing.:sad2:

Remember the power in the glowing WISH shirts comes from the Pixy Dust they are made from.

Jeanne you are a wonderful athlete, 3 hour half marathons are not to shabby lady.:cool1:

Fun Question for today: If we were the cast of the long running TV show "MASH", which character would you be?

Have a super day dear friends.

Taper Pandapirate:

I am going to follow that mantra of relentless forward motion and add to it that "I think I can, I think I can" and see how that works for me today. I am only on for XT and 8 miles tomorrow which will be my longest LR before the half. I am down to run/walking about 3 and 2 for right now as I am still recovering from my "procedure".

Oh, and if I were a MASH character, I would be Radar for all the organization with a little bit of Hot Lips thrown in!!

Good luck everyone! :wizard:

We're heading out to WDW tomorrow (Yep, still haven't started packing!) :sad2: and I know when we get back most of you will be headed down.

Can't wait to hear about everyone's experiences and see all the pics!

Go WISHers! :woohoo: :cheer2: :woohoo:

Fun Question for today: If we were the cast of the long running TV show "MASH", which character would you be?

Taper Pandapirate:

Why Hot Lips of course. I see you as Hawkeye.

Sorry about people struggling with their runs lately. My problem is getting motiviated to get out their to do walks other than my LW on the weekend. However, everyone has done the best that we can do with our training so come race day with all the support from other WISHers we will get it accomplished.

Have a great day everyone.

Nancy

Good Morning Everybody--Life has completely taken over this week! I did manage to get XT workouts in on Monday and yesterday, and I plan on heading to the gym a little bit later to hit the elliptical again. Hopefully all this XT in keeping me in shape while I allow my IT band some rest!! I am a little worried, but there is nothing I can do at this point.

Sorry I don't have time to catch up with everyone individually, but I hope everyone has a great day! We are almost there!!!

Please ignore the fact there is no mention of training in today's post. :sad2:

NEPBill - I don't even know how to respond to that. Let me think..... :rolleyes1

Howard - Yay! :yay: It's Howard! Welcome back! Glad you had a great time. :goodvibes

Martha - My video award is just "those guys" picking on me again.

Vic - Ohhh, I don't want you to be cranky. Let's think of something that will put you in a better mood. Wanna borrow my foam roller?? :upsidedow

Vicki - Wow, what a move! Yes, please check in with us more. We don't want to lose you. I still think of how nice it was of you to let all us Minnie Girls just come on up to you room at the GF when you didn't even really know any of us!

Stephanie -
um, dudes, these things are STATIONARY!!
:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Craig - I think I know where DD gets that from.... :goodvibes

Jackie - Oh Jackie.... We all have days like that. It doesn't mean a thing. You ARE prepared. :thumbsup2 Don't you worry.

Helen - OMG Helen! You're on your way! :yay: How exciting!!!

Still no Sunny sightings, hu? :guilty:

I'd love to get to the 2008 Minnie 15K, but that will involve leaving my boys here with my mom. I'm not sure I can do it. I'm seriously thinking about it, though. It is the last Minnie after all! Anyone doing tea again??? That was fun!

Leana--I also hear that Singapore is pretty dead on Sunday mornings. That is when I've been told to learn how to drive. Driving on the left side :scared: I am very impressed that you ran outside in that humidity and that you ran on Orchard. I'm happy to have the American Club and its treadmills.:thumbsup2

Happy training everyone! I can't wait to hear your reports! I took my DH to bodypump class this morning. He's hurting.;)

Hey all... I have been working 1/2 days this week and the kids are home, so things have been nutty crazy. I need a vacation. Also, I have to fly to San Diego the week of the marathon and am taking the red-eye to Orlando Thursday night/Friday morning just to be with you all. Oh yah, and I am meeting my family there. They just think they have a crazy mom!

So last night I did bootcamp and this morning I did 60 minutes of walking on the TM. I didn't feel like run/walk and wanted to save my knees for tomorrows LR.

You are all being so silly, it's cracking me up. Thanks for the smiles, some days I really need that!!!!!

For MASH, I'd be Hot Lips Houlihan, with a little Radar thrown in.

Leanna - sorry about the stonker. But you had some great runs, so I know you'll be back to normal in no time.

Lily - Hoping the LTO segment ends for you soon. I feel your pain, though!

I had another good r/w at the track today. Did 5 miles in 1:03:29. I know it'll be a little slower on the road, but my 5 mile times on the track have been pretty consistent. That's encouraging. Now if I can keep that pace up throughout the Goofy, I'll be

I was in Target today, looking at their C9 gear. Saw some cute workout shirts and running skirts. I've been thinking about trying the skirt, so I took one to try on. :scared1: OMG, they are so short. No way I could wear one of those in the race. I don't wear anything that short even when I'm in a bathing suit!
Put me in one of those and even Panda Dave would blush :rotfl:
I'll stick to my running tights.

Happy training. I'm gonna try to have good back-to-back r/w's by going out for 8 miles tomorrow.

I know the boards will be down tonight, so I'll check back in with you all tomorrow.

Terri

Thanks for all of the encouragement after the stonker guys, I really appreciate it! I'll give running another whirl tomorrow I reckon. Did go for a swim today and that felt really good.

The weather forecast does not seem to be improving very much.....still pretty warm!

Happy Friday evening! Sitting here watching TV :happytv: and doing no training. I'll do no training tomorrow but will run 10 miles on Sunday. OUTSIDE no matter what! I will get outside and I WILL run 10 miles. I'll do it.

Calcio: stop that! YOU ran 18 miles, ran them mind you, while I had to walk the last 45 minutes! You RAN 18 miles AND you've run the marathon 2 times before. Me? I haven't run more than 13.1 miles in a race yet. I'm allowed some reservations. You just have to put up with it! :love2:

Big Vic: Colonel Flagg? :lmao:

WWDave: Hot Lips, of course!

Happy training everyone!

All of the pretty WISH princesses glow with an inner beauty and are exceptionally lovely to the eye. Deep contented sigh, MMMMMMM, so many beautiful princesses, life is good.:flower3:

I feel so blessed to have had the pleasure of meeting such wonderful ladies and their brave knights who have come to Disney to take on the challange of the baddest distances around with me and my lady.:worship:

My princess Erica and I will be heading south in a week from tomorrow. I wish I could have you all over for New Years. I guess I better start tinking about a New Years YARC post to bore everyone with.

Tapering Panda:hippie:

For M*A*S*H and WISH, I see myself as Major Sidney Freedman, only making special appearances and trying to help figure out what is wrong with Boo-Boo Panda for the sake of all WISHers.

In reality, I'd have to go off the board and go with a different military show and say Sgt. Schultz. The man who knows and sees everything but steadfastly denies it.

Hi Wish Team :)

I've had a fairly successful week of training thus far. I did 3.2 on Christmas day :)...snuck out and got my legs moving and it felt great!! The soreness from Sunday's 18 had dissipated some and and the run took care of the rest! I've taught several Pilates classes this week and managed to get a workout in myself during them. I managed 5 miles on the dreadmill thursday and my knees can tell :(. My legs HATE the treadie...ugh. I also hit the ski machine for 30 minutes yesterday (snooozzzzzze). So today brings teaching another Pilates class and a 5 mile walk/run. Tomorrow I plan to head out for my 10 mile LR :). Last big distance before THE big distance(s). Yay!

I'm still in sneaker purgatory...haven't been able to find a single pair of Kayano 14s anywhere here in northern new jersey. I know they are out there....and I WILL track them down. I am pinning a lot of hopes on the fact that asics corrected whatever it is they did to the 13s that caused discomfort and gave me HUGE blisters. I love my 12s but they are just completely unavailable now in my size. I'm trying the Mizuno wave nirvana but something funky is happening with the top of my foot...so I don't think they are a good replacement for the 12s either :(. Such a hassle!!!!

I hope everyone has a fabulous and SAFE New Year's Eve! I'm heading to New York city, after my 10 miler, for a few days to take my daughters to a play, the museum, American Girl place (of course) and some good Sushi!!! We'll watch the ball drop from a safe place high up in the hotel room  . I think my little one would be shocked to be in such a crowd...but it will be cool to be there again this year. I  New York!!!

Martha: YOU are going to do awesome in the marathon. You see...you had to have a bad run so that you get it out of your system :). Now you're all set for the 26.2!!!!

Leana: I'm sorry to hear about your tough run :(. I'm sure all the travel, change of climate, change in eating etc had something to do with it. Don't you worry you are SOOO prepared for Goofy!!!!

Terri: I'm thinking about trying a skirt myself...but when I tried on an Adidas skirt at SA I was SHOCKED. It was SOOO short ....felt totally exposed LOL! So now I'm hesitant to order any online either LOL!

Lisa: I really hope your 8 miler is going or has gone well!!!

Judy: Training? What training?

Stephanie: :rotfl: LOVED your elliptical story. I work at a gym too...and the owner came up to me one day when I was getting some XT in on the elliptical. "Would ya slow down please, you're making everyone look bad!" ;). I was cruising on that thing....gotta get that cardio in LOL!

Martha - You're gonna do GREAT! You are so ready for this. Get those 10 miles done and then just relax and count the days.

Leana - Hope you get a good run in today!

Judy - Thanks for the encouragement. While I was whimpering DH wanted me to call one of my Galloway buddies and I looked at him in horror  . He may be supportive but he just didn't get it. I knew where I needed to come!

Mel & Vic & Angie
- Please tell me you don't have the humidity that we do, or if you do, send it away SOON!

Ran 10 miles this morning in 65 degree weather with 85% humidity. I'm completely soaked - must go take a shower before I stand on my feet for 6 hours working concessions at the NC State basketball game. What idiot scheduled this after a 10 mile run? Oh, that would be me!

Jackie

Its getting closer! I love the weather.com - It doesnt look like it will be high heat high humidity! (fingers crossed)

Still not sure if I'm going to make it - weather here has been cold, windy, snowy... no TR, so I've just tried to do a 3 mile with the dvd :rotfl2: anything to get my heart rate up! I did a LR 8 miles - mostly I've been hitting 15 min miles some walk/run wog....

I'm looking forward to the Pop dinner Friday to see the Wish Teamers in person!!

I've been trying to wear clothes that I'd wear race day - my kids just burst out :rotfl2: yesterday (they thought I was going outside in shorts!!) WHAT is it with women's manufacturers? WHY are women's shorts - SHORT and no pockets - over in the men's section, there are more choices, they are longer, (not by much, but enough to cover!) and have a teeny tiny pocket ! My dd wont let me buy men's shorts tho :rotfl2: So far the shorts I've trained in, I'm not happy with!!
