Wk of Dec 10--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hi Everyone -

Just a really quick check-in post. I was out sick yesterday. Actually, more like tired and sick of work, but anyway, I did get my training done. I did seven miles on Saturday but had to do them on the TM and it was really very unsatisfying and very aggravating that I had so many interruptions. Then the TM stopped for no apparent reason and I lost all my data. I thought I had only half a mile left to do, but I really had to guess. I'm not doing any more LRs on the TM!! :furious:

I got awful news about Mist. :sad2: It seems I have to return her to the sanctuary (two hours away) by the 8th of January then they will return her (one hour from there) to the abuser until the judge decides on if the sanctuary gets to have extended custody then they will go back and pick her up and then I can go back up and get her. This is so unfair. This horse is 20 years old! She doesn't deserve this.

Sunny - Thanks for noticing I was MIA. That means a lot to me.

:woohoo:

Hello everyone!

Carrie - Hope your hip is ok.

Jen - Sorry to hear about the DD.

Kristi - We just received a BOLO (Be On the Lookout) through NCIC reference a crazed female stalking the Goo Goo Dolls in the Northeastern area of the US. That isn't you, is it? ;) :rotfl2:

Sorry if I missed anyone.

Good training everyone! :dance3:

lol Vic! re:Kristi

Judy - :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: I'm so sorry. We relly did miss you too.

:grouphug: :grouphug: Judy! I hate that for you and Mist!

WOW Matt what an AWESOME race and Pics for you and DW!

Melissa - So sorry you are having toe issues!

TM stopping at 90, 60, and 99 min!?!?! I was so afraid that would happen Friday when I did my 10 miles on the TM so I was bracing myself for stoppage....stopping when it is on an 8 would be very painful!

Bekah - I am so glad you are here too! The marathon is so much more than a race!

Krista - throw those shoes out! Don't let them hurt you anymore! :p

BIG QUESTION!
I will not be making the Friday night thing...we will still be on the road. SO... are some still doing BW bakery on Monday? If so, where can I look for details...I want to meet you guys! I know I will see you race morning with the wonderful WISH shirts on, but we will be ready to run then.

Christa - I think Mel has info posted on teh WDW marathon weekend events thread. I'll be there. Kind of good to know that I'm not the only one missing Friday night.

Boy, you do get crazy right before a race, huh? :teeth:

Judy - I am so sorry about Mist! More  & :wizard: coming your way!

Oh Judy that is just absolutely awful. I can't even imagine what you are going through :sad2: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Taper hasnt officially started, but the madness has!!!!!

I'm here Lily, no need to throw that net over me.

I laughed so hard when I read Diane's post that she told Susan, Well Tiffany signed up for it & had to remind Susan who I was. I told mom that I had gone online to tell you guys about the VIP but that Kevin had beat me to it. This was the conversation:

Me: I went to tell the DISers about the VIP room but Kevin beat me to it
Mom: Oh, (short pause) who's Kevin?
Me: you know, Zebra butt! (although I have not actually told my family or anyone IRL about all the wackiness going on here lately with zebra butt & nipple man)

Mom: oh, (longer pause) have I met Kevin?
Me: Well, no, I haven't even met Kevin!

I dont think IRL people get how we are all friends when most of us have never met. Come to think of it, she never questioned why I called him zebra butt :confused3

Judy-I am so sorry about Mist :wizard: I hope things get turned around the way they should be.

Matt-Great race for you & DW!

Cam-Thanks for the text message! You are the first person I have ever texted before

Kristi-try to stay out of jail long enough to get to WDW!

Well, the 2nd graders were wound up today. Hope everyone stays healthy. Our school had over 100 kids out yesterday :sad2: It will be a miracle if me & the kids stay healthy. We are stocking up on our vitamins.

Have a great day, going to wind down now!

Tiff - Whereas my mom would know who Kevin was, as long as she did not confuse him with TXBelle's dh, I just couldn't share his nick name with her. :lmao: I can only imagine the look I would get!

Tiff, good to hear from you again.

Anne, good for you signing up for the VIP tent. Everyone has things that are important to them, I say go for it.

Judy, sorry to hear about mist!

Sunny, interesting comment about your training plan that consists of only LR's, mine will be the same, I have added a few 3-4 milers in there as recovery runs, but no speedwork, tempo runs or hills. My goal is to just keep a nice consistent pace for the marathon. We will see how it goes.

Heather, you WILL be able to do this. You amaze me how you juggle everything you do with your high paced job, kids and homelife! :wizard:

Well, I really don't have much to say to write an official half-marathon race report. The temps were around 25 at start, but the sun was so hot and the no wind, so I was comfortable the whole way. There was a huge bottle neck for about the first 2 miles. There were around 3000 runners and this was much worse than Disney's 13,000 or Chicago's 40, 000. I lost ALOT of time here, almost 3 minutes.

The most interesting thing I saw was a man who looked to be about 60 years old. He was running, actually it was more like a shuffle. It looked like he had scoliosis, as he was so badly hunched over. The back of his shirt said he was a member of the "50 state club" and has ran all 13 provinces and territories in Canada 4 times. So that would make over 100 marathons. To give you an indication of how slow the start was, I caught up to this guy at mile 2.5!!

My actual run was really uneventful. I ran the last few miles under 10 minute miles and ended up with a time of 2:16. I will take it considering I really haven't done much speed work since I ran Chicago in October.

Here are my pics:

WOW!! Colleen, great pics!! I can only hope to be that man in the future!!

Now, I'll have to sneak out of the hotel and hop over to BW bakery Monday morning so I can meet people. DH is getting frustrated with me and meets. He's a "Let's go with the flow" kind of guy at Disney and doesn't want to HAVE to be someplace at a certain time. Good thing FPs give you a window!! Since we don't have a ressie for Friday (I thought we did, but just Thursday and Saturday), I may be able to show up. We don't have to eat, we can just be there for the picture, right? :teeth:
Oh, Kristi!! Have fun tonight!! I was :rotfl2: at your response!!! Clever girl!!
I think we should just call Kevin "ZB", we'll know what it means!! ;)
Vic, I'm blaming it on age and keeping DH happy!! I'll bring extras!!
Bekah GREAT job on your 18 miler!! Sending :wizard: for your room to become reality at CB!!
Oh, Mel!! I keep forgetting to say FANTASTIC on getting the Dream patrol at WDW!! That was AWESOME!!
We got our gorgeous finisher's certificates from RftTaste today!
And, BTW, I was so surprised and tickled at the snow at MGM during the light show! Of course, I wanted to know what it was, so I captured some and tasted it...SOAP!!!

Hi Everyone!

Just checking in before I go on a quick little run. I am only running 3 today because I am a total slacker and waited until after dark!

Colleen - Congrats on a good finish. Its a bummer that you lost so much time at the beginning though. I have heard that the Kiawah run does not have the best reputation for organization. Its a little island, so they don't have many choices for starts etc.

Judy - I am so sorry. I just do not understand how anyone can all this justice. We will keep hoping for some sort of intervention.

My DH has given up understanding what I am talking about. He looked over my shoulder the other day and asked why someone posted a picture of a zebra's butt. I just said I was thankful it wasn't a characture of nippleman. He agreed but I am not sure he understood.

Happy trails!

My DH did the exact same thing. He was like "what's that all about".

Lily - I forget, was it you that asked about my DH's new tri training? Anyway, the tri he wants to compete in is in August. BUT, he is trying to lose weight and get into shape so he is starting now. Also, he has never run a lick in his life and needs major work on that. He said he may try doing a 5K with me this spring if I can help him train. Poor guy has really bad shins and needs to get them conditioned SLOWLY! He was in pain after a 1/4 mile.

Tonight during the kids swim classes I was able to get in 45 minutes on the Y treadmill. I run much better on their treadmills. Tho it was busy tonight and I was getting "the looks", I think because I was on over the 30 minute time limit. But there was always at least 1 treadmill open. There are a lot of snooties at that Y (we have 2).

Tomorrow is a REST day... yippeee. Then I got called out of the office on Thursday for an onsite demo. That means training may not happen. Poooo. Have I mentioned that I am getting over-extended at work??? My stress levels are through the roof, which is no good during training and right before Christmas!!!

Happy Training!

Judy, I am so sorry for Mist. That is not good news. Hope you feel better soon.

Vic, No pups checked in here yet. I was going out after Bekah, but she got here on her own. ;)

Bekah, I do hope you get that room to come through for you.

Kristi, I know you are enjoying. I can’t wait to hear the story.

Christa, Monday is just kinda gather around outside the bakery area. They have tables on the Boardwalk so everyone gets whatever from the bakery and we have a moment to chat and relive the experience. I plan to be there.

Tiff, glad you checked in. Your post was had me laughing. It’s so true. Everyone here at home is getting used to me bursting out in laughter.

Colleen, thanks for sharing your pics and your report even if you don’t think you had much to say. Sounded like something to me. Glad you were satisfied with your time. I know you thought faster, I thought Wow! She speeds! Well, at least compared to my slow self. It’s all good though.

Anne, the snow is soap! yech! Oh, you will absolutely love being there on Friday. Your DH too. Mine wasn’t sure the first time, and now it’s great! He can be part of the picture taking significant others. We gather they take pics! No pressure on the food thing either. I just know once you get there you’ll want to stay though.

Cecilla, I know when I go to explain I’m thinking I get the nod and smile and they walk away.

I haven’t done anything yet tonight. Just kinda stress stuff. I don’t know if I’ll get to just now. Oh well.

Jen, you posted as I was composing. Yup, it was me asking. Great for DH trying for a tri. Hope it's a smaller version, sprint versus the full blown. I'm with you about TM. If there's one open then I think it's fair to hog one a little longer. Enjoy the rest tomorrow.

Hi Guys...

I haven't posted much mostly b/c I don't have much going on with training. I'm kind of in panic mode at this point. The chiro and PT folks are actively working to get me back into some sort of training. The yoga and pilates is at least helping me maintain my sanity lol.

I did 3 miles on Sunday..mostly walk but did throw in some 1/10 mi. runs which were not entirely pain free but heck...I'll take em. I managed a 12 mpm which made me feel better b/c although it was only 3 miles...I felt like I could go on like that for quite a good distance. Walking and inserting short runs to keep my pace. That was a small victory for me...and I felt pretty good afterwards!

Unfortunately, I set out to try to do a normal training this week without much success :(. It is so very frustrating and discouraging. I can feel my fitness slipping away....loss of endurance....loss of muscle tone...it's so incredibly frustrating. Anyway...I did a nice 1.5 hour yoga session last night (good start!). So today I set out to do another 3 miles but this time doing my normal 4:1 run:walk intervals. I made it .5 miles and had to stop due to intense pain. I walked back the .5 miles to my house....sobbing like a fool lol....and just sat on my floor in tears.

I want more than anything to make it to the starting line. But I'm getting very terrified at my lack of training. Even if I do manage to get healthy....what will have become of my endurance and strength by then? I hope to god all this pilates and yoga is doing something! Tomorrow I plan to do the ski machine for a good solid time and an hour pilates class. I always feel better when i get some sort of training in.

Sorry for the driveby post guys. I'll attempt to catch up with everyone tomorrow. ((HUGS)) Happy training!

Amybeth - when was your last long run? You should still have a pretty good endurance base. I'm so sorry about your injuries and I really hope to see you at the starting line!

Judy - I am so sorry about Mist. It is very unfair and my heart goes out to you and Mist.

So I went to pizza hut for some calorie loading (i just made that up, calorie load - ireally did got to pizza hut) Anyway, I thought of all you guys when the waitress said "i'm sorry, i'm trying not to cough all over the place. It just started tonight!" AUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH- could you make sure and lick my fork and sneeze in my drink while you are at it? :rotfl2:

Colleen - nice pics! Congrats on your race.

Judy - So sorry to hear about Mist having to go back. That really stinks! Sending :grouphug: and :wizard: your way.

MelR
- Just don't let her give you what I've got. I'm sitting here typing while I smell like Vicks. Hoping to get a decent night's sleep. Haven't been able to work out since last Thursday. Can't swallow or breathe normally with this congestion. I feel like I should just move my bed to the drug store

Decided to take the day off from work tomorrow. Gonna try to just rest and take it easy and hope this cold decides to leave my body. I'm trying everything: Chicken soup, hot tea, vitamins, otc meds.

I'll catch up more tomorrow when my hopefully my head doesn't feel as fuzzy.

Terri
