Wk of Aug 17 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Kira--we'll be at WL from Wed to Monday. It's going to be my crew and my dsis and dniece. Should be fun; dsis and niece have never been. I also struggle more with short runs. I hate that going all out feeling; I'd rather have a nice slow and steady LR any day!

Carrie--Nice bike! I'm thinking that might be what I want for xmas this year.

Okay, now I've got to back into town and buy soccer supplies for DD. Nothing like getting a last minute email from the coach telling us what she needs. Now I feel like summer is officially over with fall soccer starting this week. Geez, where did the time go?

I'll be at the Poly from Tuesday - Monday. I'll wave at you over Bay Lake! And I'm glad that I'm not the only one that prefers the LRs!

Cool, I was listed there!! I must be famous. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Finally went out for my 4 miles when a break in the weather happened. No rain but lots o' wind. I had head wind, tail wind, side wind, diagonal wind, you name it. Instead of doing tempo runs, hill work, speed drills or the like, I had wind work today :rotfl: .

Still watching Olympics, I think I will have withdrawals when its over.

Just a quick update while we have power. We are getting lots and lots of rain. Streets have flooded and there are 51 homes damaged and 9 destroyed a few miles from us. It still isn't over yet. I think the eye is 41 miles from us and is expected to hit us in the next 6-7 hours. We are still getting lots of rain and more is projected all night and most of tomorrow.

Everything still seems to be holding on the house. I guess the worst is still to come though.

Bill

Hey Bill, stay safe.
Weird thing is they are saying that Fay is strengthening over land and will soom emerge off the east coast most likely as a Cat 1 Hurricane and then go north and then back north west back onto land. We had two real bad tornadoes down here. One in Hallendale and on in Palm Beach.

Again, stay safe!!!!

 STay safe Floridians!

Did a 7.98 mile bike ride in 40 min. OK, I'm ready to have the new bike. ;) Gettign very jealous that dh has his.

HI Team. I am at WDW right now, leaving Saturday. It wasn't too bad today. We were at AK and walked onto every ride. It was just drizzly rain. We left after the parade at 2:30. The down pours didn't start until around 5pm-6pm. They expect the parks to be open tomorrow as the forcast isn't as bad as previously thought. This is good as we have AM ressies at Ohana's for breakfast.

I slipped down the steps here as they were freshly painted and really slick. Now I am pretty bruised up.

Cam - See above... we can share the pity party for our falls. I hope you are OK!!

Carrie - Love the bike... I am jealous.

I can't remember everyone else, I am sorry. I am on my laptop and my memory is short as I have cooped up kids in the room!!

Seriously, WTH is Fay doing? :confused3 I expected it to be totally weakened by now. Bill, Be safe! Sending some dry west coast FL weather to you! :wizard:

Stay safe Floridians!

I got out and did my scheduled 3.5 miles. It was in pieces, but it's done. I had to stop each mile for one reason or another - phone call I had to take, see Zack before bed, etc. But done is done!

Not too shabby for all walking and not doing much in the w/o dept. all summer.

I did 3 miles in 25 minutes. Yay for breaking the 8:30 block I had.

I also got a massage earlier today. It was great and she was able to work out some knots, but it made the running tougher as my muscle were relaxed and sore.

It's hot and humid but sadly no rain in this part of Alabama.

Stopping in to post my workout tonight. My schedule is to get in the mornings and do it, but I really struggle w/ that. I finally made myself get out the door tonight (since I didn't make it this morning) around 9:30 pm! Today was the start of my 3/2 R/W intervals. I warmed up for 5 min and got in every single interval! Yay! I cooled down for a long while. So... 3 miles, 47 min. I'm the turtle of the crowd...Let's just hope this slow and steady turtle can make it across the finish line for Donald!

I'll reiternate...You Floridians stay safe!!! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

It was a good run up and around Diamondhead crater. No laptop bags to tote this time.

Time for some ice cream!

HI EVERYBODY!

Hi, WISHers!

I know I haven't been posting too much. Just wanted to say that I'm off to Ironman Canada...race is Sunday. Will be thinking of y'all and your positive spirit. :goodvibes

keep up the good training, and I'll have a nice long RR when I get back.

Betsy - good luck Sunday!

All our FL WISHers - stay safe! Heard this morning they're expecting Fay to spiral back toward northern FL.

Biked last night 8.1 miles in 33 min. Slowly picking up speed.
Today is rest day and I've got errands to run after dinner so not exactly restful. ;)

Have a great day everyone!

Jen -- Sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you aren't too sore. YAY for getting so much in at the park before the rain. :woohoo: Enjoy the rest of your stay!

Kristi -- AWESOME!!! You are speedy! :cool1:

Stacey - That time is awesome for your intervals. I think it is more important to be able to do the intervals, no matter how slowly, than it is to be speedy. I told myself that it was a matter of teaching my body to run again after the walk interval and that speed would come with time. You are going to ROCK the DONALD!!!! :donald:

WP -- Kudos on breaking through your 8:30 barrier! :yay:

Betsy -- Have a great trip and an awesome race. :goodvibes Can't wait to see your bling! :cheer2:

Sorry to all I missed. Just wanted to pop in and wish all our Floridian friends safe days. I saw a scary report on Brevard County this morning. Is that where Vic is?

Vic, Bill, all our other friends down there, sending you :goodvibes and pixiedust: and :grouphug: Please check in when you can!

AFM (now that I've checked my log) -- yesterday was 3.26 miles walking/jogging, 45 minutes on the bike last night, and 100 crunches & 125 pushups. So far, today was just my 1/2 hour personal trainer strength training session.

Vic, Bill, all our other friends down there, sending you :goodvibes and pixiedust: and :grouphug: Please check in when you can!

Glub, glub, splash, splash...:sad2:

We haven't flooded yet but Lynnda's parents have. My cross training yesterday was moving furniture to higher ground. Our house is still holding through the wind as well.

The eye passed over us last night around midnight and had moved 20 miles in about 6 hours. Maybe we will dry out sometime today. :confused3

The good thing is we still have power. :woohoo:

Bill
