Thanks, everyone for your well wishes. I'm feeling much better in all ways.
Racey Tracy: Question about your core work. Does this mean you're doing core work during the commercial breaks or as a break from the Olympics. Me, I see you as a multi-tasking goddess. Good luck to Mickey for her vet appointment. (Vote?)
Carol: Your new job--that's one heck of a commute!

Seriously, it sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you--a growing/expanding company. Aside from the nuisance of painting, that is! Good luck with the new job!
Howard: I know I caught you yesterday, but CONGRATULATIONS again. What great news on your PR. You definitely deserve the dancing banana award.

I also find it interesting that you refer to your racing success in terms of "afterglow." I generally reserve that term for something else, but each to his own.

P.S. Great recovery runs, too. There's your running smart strategy in action.
Aloha Jeff: I hope you're having a great Admissions Day and enjoying the waterpark. I KNOW the keiki are enjoying the day. And you get good samaritan points for lugging that bag to the police.

I'd give you OJ Simpson/Hertz points (from the running-through-the-airport commercials), but I think his cultural significance has shifted. Plus, I'd date myself, and I wouldn't want to do that, would I?
And nope, I don't think my migraine was a brain freeze from ice cream. I'm proud to say I have considerable experience with the latter to self-diagnose. (Proud??) I cannot comment on the possibility of a scotch-induced heffalump experience, as I can handle my liquor.

But I'm very flattered by your concern for my mind--even though it's odd that you bring up my mind and "waste(d)" in the same sentence.

As for me, I think a "waist is a terrible thing to mind." Hence, the ice cream and scotch. (And let's not forget a good gin and tonic, preferably while enjoying the scenery/pics of eye candy that you so graciously provided me and Tracey.

)
Wendy: Again, a big, big,
YAY and
WHOOPEE! for your incredible weight loss and new one-derland. It's one-derful that you met your DL deadline, your goal, and are so energized. You've worked so hard for this and you deserve lots of cheers and applause!
Sandy/Eeyore: You know, you deserve a dancing banana for your event (just like Howard).

And for your support of Susie, as well. You encouraged her to run her own race--and that's the WISH spirit in action. We're all so supportive of each other, and I think it's great when we hear RRs of such give-and-take! I'm sorry that you're going to miss '09, but glad to hear there's lots of Disney in your (and your family's) future. '10, perhaps?
Susie:
Because you, too, deserve a lot of love for your WISHer behavior!
Judy: How is your knee feeling, btw, self-imposed R&R aside? Are you feeling okay to go?

(Secretly, I agree with
Bill's "Behave yourself," but thought I'd soft-pedal things for a change. He's certainly got your number--and apparently a few stories with which to blackmail you.

)
Jennifer: Great 4 miles and pace! WTG!
Stephanie: It sounds like your schedule has settled down a bit this week. Yay for adding that half to your fall schedule. That's what, a 100% increase. Impressive!

(And one more than me, too!)
Jackie: Ooooh, I'm so, so sorry to hear about your ongoing pain.

Your condition sounds so frustrating and disappointing on top of everything else. Does your doctor or that masseuse have any suggestions--PT, perhaps? I wish I had suggestions, but know that I'm thinking good thoughts for you. And that I think it's terrific you're cooking at the pancake breakfast--volunteering like that is important, and will make you feel better!
Kristi: The Hampton 1/2 sounds great--and I know you're such a music lover you couldn't resist this opportunity. I'd love to do it, but ToT is calling my name.
Carrie: So, you're still keeping up with the Chi running? Excellent? So, did you do your 8 today?
Liz: So you're cheating on your recovery schedule by ADDING exercise. Oh, you're so hooked! As long as they're easy miles/laps and you're enjoying yourself, right?
Shan: You're doing great in week two of your recovery! Good pace, good miles, a strategy. Yay! I sometimes wonder if having a partner or group makes things easier--lots of WISHers find them motivating and good training tools. You'll have to do an ongoing compare and contrast for those of us who go it alone.
Frank:
I enjoy not dying while doing my endurance events.
Finding pleasure where you can, I guess?

I'm with Carrie, though, tons of confidence in your abilities and training if you want to do a tri. Have a great time this weekend with your light running, softball, and camping, oh my!
As for football, where you see aggressive behavior, I see as hot-dogging, lack of discipline, and/or even poor sportsmanship. (I tend to be a little "rose-colored glasses" in my sports watching, so feel free to make fun of me. DOOD does.) Yeah, the Dutch goal was a bad break. But the team opened up the door for that one, what with the deliberate yellow-carding. (That worked out well.

) But even if I overlook the yellow-card behavior as tactical--and I did, initially--what about the elbowing red-card just 3 minutes into the match with Nigeria? Bah. I'm not sure I see any need for that. What we do agree on is that the US team can't really compete in terms of skill, etc. Unlike our women's football team--did you see today's US/CAN match?
As for me: I shifted up training this week because of the migraine, etc. I got a slow, easy run in yesterday (4.75 miles) and XT today. I'm feeling okay, all things considered. Tomorrow I'm scheduled for 6.
And this weekend I hope (if the eyes cooperate) to see
Tropic Thunder. What can I say, a comedy that opens itself to multiple points of controversy intrigues me. (And I'm hoping the film treats both the race and disability issues satirically, not just as lowbrow humor, or I'll have to write a letter. That's my understanding of the usage from reviews and industry articles, anyway. (If you don't know of the film and its controversies, there are several sites--including
Wikipedia--that provide information. It looks like the protests from disability rights advocates are eclipsing concerns with Robert Downey's character. Here's
an article on film critics' responses that excerpts reviews and bring up the most problematic instances.)
Okay, so my movie-going doesn't have anything to do with my running--except it's my reward for a job well done on weekend LRs. What do you reward yourself with?
