Wk of Aug 10 - WISH Walking/Running Club

Ang: Just wandering if you are doing your training?? Huh?
Aloha Jeff: Hey. Will be seeing you soon. Don't forget the sticker. (I start a small vacation from work on Friday. hehe)

Debra: Hey girlfriend, sorry to hear that your not feeling well and having migraine issues. I don't get them very often thankfully.

Will do some core pilates later during breaks from being the Olympic Watching junky that I am. Last day of complete craziness at work on tap for tomorrow.

Have a good evening everyone.

Hey WISHers! Sorry I've been off the boards, and offline, recently. A little LTO, mostly in the form of illness and migraines. No surfing for me when all I see is surrounded by a cool if somewhat painful aura of bright light.

I'll be checking in somewhat sporadically, as I'm trying to limit my computer time and work--sigh--needs to take priority. So spotty responses for a couple of days.

[CarolA: Congrats on the new job and your successful Peachtree race. I envy your trip to Paris. Your Galloway group sounds like fun, much like Tricia's feelings, and training seems to be going well. A new home office, too? Are you going into business for yourself, as well?

Debra,

Sorry about your headaches!

No I am not going into business for myself. The company I will be working for is in California. I am the only employee east of the Mississippi. So I have to have someplace to work. (Lets hope this works out LOL!)

I didn't do anything today besides paint trim. I hate painting. Tomorrow I do the walls and touch up and hopefully that part of the project is DONE!

Debra: How's this??? :lovestruc :confused3

I HAVE A NEW PR! :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :rolleyes1

I ran in the 4th Tour de Lance 5K tonight at 6:30 PM. I ran it in a personal best time, a time that has stood in the record books since way back on March 18, 2005! My former PR for a 5K event was: 24:53 (8:02 pace).

Tonight's numbers:

Miles: 3.16
Time: 24:23
Pace: 7:42

Splits:
7:14
7:37
8:18

I felt good, a bit winded after the second mile, but I held tough to the pace I have been running at in training.

I will be enjoying the afterglow of this one.

Have a great night everyone!

:grouphug:

Howard

CONGRATULATIONS Howard!!!! Way to go.:thumbsup2 :cool1:

I think you might be like Aloha Jeff's Guru Les, pace sounds similar.

Way to go and you deserve some glowing - too bad there isn't a glowing smiley thing.

Aloha Jeff: Hey. Will be seeing you soon. Don't forget the sticker. (I start a small vacation from work on Friday. hehe)

VACATION AGAIN? WHAT A LIFE!

Er, at least I get Friday off too. It's Admissions day here in Hawaii, so we've got the day off. Heading to the waterpark with the keiki.

Yeah, I've got your sticker packed already. What, can't wait to put it on the car?

Hey to everyone else out there in WISHland.:thumbsup2

Hey, you know how you guys said we could pop in and say "hi" every once in a while? Well, HI!

I have big news (for me) that I wanted to share... My goal for my Disneyland Half trip was to break through a weight barrier that has proven unsurmountable for me for the past 20 years or so. I just could not seem to get below 200 pounds. Well, yesterday, I did it! Officially, 198.2 pounds. I know most normal weight folks wouldn't "get" why anyone would brag about a weight like that, but I figured you WISHers would understand. I'm still not thin, obviously -- and I have a ways to go to really SEE a difference -- but I have smashed through that wall-of-a-number into ONE-derland!!! :yay:

OK, I've littered two threads with this news now, so I'll go behave myself. Just wanted to share my small victory. Thanks!

Wendy - :worship: :yay: :cool1: :cheer2: You have always been such an inspiration with your training and racing and it's so awesome that you broke through the 200 barrier. That is no SMALL feat - it's one you've been steadily working for all of this time:hug: . Thanks for sharing your victory and have a blast at DL:cheer2: .

Howard - :worship: :worship: YEAH!!! Congrats on the PR and I am still in awe of your progression with pace in such a short period of time. Enjoy basking in the afterglow long after today:thumbsup2

Wendy - WHIle it may not be quite the same struggle, we all "get" meeting a long time goal and are thirlled for those who are losing pounds. Way to go!!!!!!!!

Howard - COngratulastions!!!!!!!  So, I take it you're healed?

Wendy ~ CONGRATULATIONS!!! WELCOME TO THE ONE's! :cool1: :thumbsup2 :dance3: :yay:  :worship:

Carrie~ I think I can say that I am over the Hip Flexor Strain but cautious so that it won't come back.

Have a great day everyone! I think I will be running 5 or 6 miles tonight as part of my Philadelphia Distance Run/Marine Corps/Philadelphia Marathon/Family 5K, Disney World Half Marathon/Disney World Marathon training.

Howard Congrats on your PR!! WOOHOOTY to you as well!!

Debra hope your migraines disappear!! and for your quote >
I try explaining it to other people, and they don't always "get it." Your RR makes it clear why we come here and stay here. And I was especially taken with your descriptions of Susie's spirit,

I just want to add that many times over the course of those 6 miles I encouraged Susie to "run your race" dont worry about me, I'm doing mine - just "GO" - she is training for her DL marathon!! But she kept telling me she wanted to support me! I am so humbled and honored by that selfless act, I cannot put into words! Her support wasnt easy for her, she really was amazing!! :worship: all y'all! and esp shout out :worship: Susie!!

I'm at my parents getting ready to do a Bridal Shower for the kids on Saturday, lots of work to do, I need to get online to get a recipe here and there, and have to stop in and read!! Thanks all!!

Carrie Believe it or not Tim does want to cheer with the great Wish Team for the Half!! He does tell DS about how much fun was had!! and if not for the minor detail of money - they'd get married in WDW for sure!! I cant believe we're missing the '09 Meet and Marathon!!

Greetings fellow racers -

My self imposed week of R&R for the knee is up tomorrow morning and I can't WAIT to get on that TM! Yahooooo! :woohoo:

Debra - Oh no, I'm sorry you were hurting. I hope you are better today. :wizard:

Howard - Congratulations! That is FAB-U-LOUS!! :woohoo:

Wendy - OMG OMG I TOTALLY understand you!! :yay: I am so thrilled for you! And.....envious. :upsidedow Way to go, Wendy!! :cheer2:

Behave yourself. No trying to meet the paramedics up in North when your flipping knee acts up and leaves you stranded. ;)

Wendy and Howard--Mucho Congrats to both of you!!!!:cool1:  :cool1: :cheer2:

Sorry I've gotten so behind this week. After that impromptu trip to the IL"s, I feel like my whole life has been turned upside down. I did get a great run in Friday--4.5 miles. Tried to run on Monday afternoon, but after 3.3 miles the Fajita chicken wrap I had for lunch started rebelling!:scared: Today was pretty good workout day. I got 7.1 on the bike and then ran 2.5 miles; felt pretty good. I heard from my dad that they are having a new half marathon in the town they live in, in October. So, I think I'll have to add that one to my list for the fall. That brings my fall race total to 1 :rotfl: , 2 if you include WDW!

Howard - CONGRATULATIONS!!! :dance3:

Wendy
- WAY TO GO!!! party: That is an amazing accomplishment!

Sandy
- Great job on your half last weekend. We've missed you!

Tried to run Monday night. Used Carrie's 10 minute rule, was in tears from the pain so called it quits. Had a sports massage Tuesday where she found more problems than either of us thought possible. I'm taking the week off while continuing to stretch - hoping to get a couple of walks in, but no running. The group is doing our pancake breakfast Saturday and needs volunteers to help cook in lieu of running, so I'm doing that so I won't feel bad about taking the weekend off! Have another massage scheduled Tuesday hoping to keep the IT band loose; if that doesn't work, I'm at a loss as to how to keep running. :confused3 I can't continue doing this to my body and being unable to walk for days after a LR. :sad1:
