Wk of April 13 - WISH Walking/Running Club

I'm still trying to decide what Disney themed vanity plate on the new wheels.

That reminds me - I saw a great license plate the other day: TI2XGGR

Christa - Awesome pace!

Jen - Yay for another Disney trip! Are you going for free dining?

Maura - :rotfl:

Krista - You do look terrific! Wow, the nursery looks amazing. You and Stephen must be getting so excited.

Stacie - Good luck getting your long run in! Sometimes some of the best runs happen on vacation. When I was heading out of town over Christmas I had a night in LA. I specifically booked my hotel so that I could run Manhattan Beach the morning before my flight out and it was AWESOME!

Debra - Sounds like..umm..an interesting talk. Enjoy the ice cream this weekend!

Allyson - Congrats on getting 4 done. Way to go!

Liz - Congrats on the pain free 4.22 miles!

Mike - I agree, 32 deg is cold...

Mel - Yay for discovering your running mojo!!!

Morgan - Congrats on your second 3 miler! You are definitely ready for your first 5K race.

Claire - You are right, weather in the 50s here means I get to go outside without a jacket on!

Amy - Oh no! Can you take a couple of rest days? Hopefully that will help to put those aches and pains at bay. You've been training hard so I know you can have a great 15K, but remember to take care of yourself so that you get there healthy!

As for me yesterday I got in 3 mi over lunch in 31:38, plus 1 hour of Fit Ball in the evening. My legs were pretty sore from all the biking and running on the weekend so the lunch time run was mostly something to help with the recovery. They feel a lot better today but I opted to take a rest day so my legs will be reasonably fresh for the race this weekend. Tonight I'm hanging with my most favourite niece ever (never mind that she's my only niece...)princess:

Debra, um... I had to stop at the "monkeys defecating on stage" part.. how does one respond to that? :rotfl:

With one very slightly raised eyebrow.

Debra - So how did the talk go?? More importantly, what flavor ice cream did you order? :rotfl: Hmmm, I'd see you as a complex yet simple, fun yet conservative kind ice cream flavor person...my guesses: mint chocolate chip, butter pecan (nutty, get it?), or some kind of caramel infused concoction...ahhhh...I see you posted as I was typing this, so never mind question #1...question #2 is still valid though ;)

So, according to you, I should eat an ice creams that contain pecans, bananas, coconut, fruit loops, and perhaps crackers? How prescient you are, because I WAS going to have a little Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream in honor of the talk. :rotfl:

You know, you might have a whole sideline of work out there--personality analysis through ice cream. But now I feel too self-conscious to tell you what my default ice cream flavor is...who knows what you'd come up with as a diagnosis! :crazy2:

As far as the best cookie in the world? Amy makes the most delicious chocolate chip cookie ever created. It's the perfect blend of size, softness and chip mix...it's pure heaven....ohhhh I love them so :goodvibes:

Um, Amy....why have you been holding out on me? "C is for cookie, it's good enough for me; oh cookie cookie cookie starts with C."

Good Evening Everyone!

Krista, the baby's room looks so cute! Great Job!

Debra, you have more patiece then I do. An entire talk on strange monkeys??

Scott, The BEST White Choc Macadamia Nut cookies come from Christie Cookies in Nashville. If you get up there for a race buy some... TRUST ME!

Amy, Take a rest day and bake some cookies... We can use them as recovery fuel at the Minnie!:rotfl2:

Carrie, Loved the pollen comment. (My next car is going to be yellow green so that I can't see how bad it looks LOL!)

For everyone I misses sorry. I am not near as good as some of our posters!

As for me. I was suppose to do abs last night, but I didn't. I was just flat out tired. So tonight I did five miles on the TM in 63:05  and then did the ab circuit in the weight room. That's the LONGEST I have ever been on a TM. I have no idea how I am going to do the half training on that thing. (Plus if the gym gets crowded you have to get off at half an hour) The first two miles were horrid, but I finally got into it. Did walk some as I am working on my pacing for the Minnie!

YEAH Tomorrows Wed. That means this week is half over. And I am going to WDW Sunday. (Going down for the AK Anniversary event!)

Have a great day.

Oh man! I wish I would have known this last year when we ran the CM Half! We LOVED Nashville, the music scene was AWESOME and we had some great food too...the milkshakes at Noshville Deli come to mind....:goodvibes

Amy, Take a rest day and bake some cookies... We can use them as recovery fuel at the Minnie!:rotfl2:

Now, that is the best idea I've heard in a while!! Amy...you are in charge of cookies for Minnie Weekend. Will they survive the plane flight?

Mel - Gotta think about Va Beach - that's really close. Mini-WISH meet?

Morgan
- Living in NC (or anywhere in the South, I think) means allergy medicine is your best friend. There's a film of yellow over EVERYthing the entire month of April (and the meteorologists will tell you that the yellow stuff isn't the really irritating pollen...)

Kristi - Zack is adorable! Congratulations to him!

Krista - The nursery is absolutely precious. And Hines looks quite at home! And I don't care what you think - you look terrific.

Amy - I agree - a rest day is in order. You need to bake cookies and work on filming your Pilates video.

Allyson - Congratulations on finishing week 4! It's amazing what the WISH vibes can do. Many times DH and I start runs together but pass (we run a 1.5 mile out and back, so he's headed back long before I hit the 1.5). He finishes his 3 and comes back for me. I quickly gave up trying to keep up with him; occasionally he'll do my R3/W1 intervals but it usually makes him crazy!

Stacie - We're headed opposite directions. DD and I are going to Asheville and west for college visits this weekend. I think I'd rather run in Beaufort!

Jen - Hooray! It's not snowing!

Christa - How do you do it? Great run!

Debra & Carrie - You two are hanging out in my office every day, whispering over my shoulder to tell me to sit up straight. Just thought I'd let you know that you're spending time in NC - and it's getting annoying! Actually, I appreciate the reminders. Eventually I'll get through Chi Running (I've made it to chapter 4) and remember it myself, but for now I have WISHers to depend on.

My world: Did arms & core yesterday morning. Set the alarm for 5:00 this morning for an appt with the TM, but after tossing & turning most of the night chose to use that hour for sleep. Decided to dust off the stationary bike tonight after work and did 12 miles - still trying to recover from the hill run on Sunday so thought the legs might appreciate a change of scenery.

What? Special medals for doing more than one RnR? That’s very cool! We won’t be able to try for that this year, but maybe next year…

Krista – I was just thinking about you the other day. The baby’s room looks fantastic! Y’all did a great job! And you look wonderful, too (and I’m NOT lying).

Allyson – Congrats on finishing your first day of week 4!! That’s awesome! :woohoo:

Liz – Yay for 4.22 miles with no pain! I have no idea about the Gu.

Mike – Sorry to hear that your job’s being a pain at the moment.

Stacie – We did think about trying to get the grandparents to come to WDW for about two seconds, and then we realized that the logistics would be a total nightmare. Plus my ILs are not big on Disney, so I’d feel bad dragging them all the way to FL for DS’s birthday. Oh, well, it just means that I have an extra long time to plan for 2010!

Carrie – Do they post the race registration percentages on the RnR website somewhere like Disney does? I hope you do get to come!

Jen – Yay for another Disney vacation!

Christa – Congrats on the negative splits!

Debra – All that crazy monkey talk and you have to wait until the weekend for your ice cream? That just doesn’t seem fair. Oh well, the walk with the ice cream means that the calories won’t count! :thumbsup2

Morgan – Your mom sounds sweet. It’ll be nice to have her there to cheer you on as you finish!

:grouphug: I honestly can't believe how sweet you guys are! I almost don't have words to post. I actually did take a break today and would post more but plan to crash and get another good night sleep tonight. I promise you I will post and catch up with you guys first thing tomorrow. But I have to say that your comments were so caring that they really made me feel such a part of this community here. It's almost overwhelming. :sad1: (happy tears). THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. I'm feeling the need to bake several dozen batches of cookies AND give each and every one of you the biggest hug ever!!! :cloud9:

I guess I'm the last person to run each day and post my workouts, based on my way out West location. :beach:

I got out for a 7.5 miles, starting on an intended hill run, but bumped into a friend along the way. So we reversed course, and made it into a beach run down by the ocean. Life's rough, I know. :rotfl2:

Good going everyone on the miles and smiles. Keep it up!

Happy Tax Day, hope you're not late in filing, or filed an extension.

Good Morning Wish Team -

Yesterday I ran 6.22 miles. It was supposed to be cold so I wore my tights and a fleece top. Then I had about 4 or 5 "in the car" errands to run so I did those before going home to shower. I finally get home around noon and I am heading to the shower when the phone rings.

My son fell on the playground and the nurse is pretty sure he has a broken arm. I jump back in my car, pick him up, and rush to the hospital. Dh got the hospital before us and already had him signed in and the paper work done. As we come in, DH gives me a strange look but I am too worried to pay attention at that time.

X-rays confirm what is an obvious break and off we go to set it. All in all, it was the fastest and most efficient visit to a hospital that we have ever had. The Dr releases us to go home and suggests motrin for pain. Dh says he will pick up the motrin. I stop to look at him as this is an unusual comment from him. He says " You aren't going into the store dressed like that are you?" Only then do I remember that I am still wearing my running tights!

My son is fine, he even went to school today. I however, am still a little embarassed.

Cecilia:  For your son! My daughter just got her casts off her arms so I know what a scary thing it is to get that call. As for you in your tights... too. Don't be embarrassed....I swear I go everywhere in my workout clothes  . Yesterday after a long day of teaching I got into my car and looked at my hair...:scared1: . Now THAT was scary AND embarassing. I'm sure you were totally fine and just looked like the uber-runner that you are! :thumbsup2

Cruella De Mom Loved your post..your day was busy and unexpected things happened (hope your son's arm heals quickly) but you took it all in stride (pun intended). Life happens and you just seemed to go with. The world would go around a little smoother if we had such attitudes. And I'm sure you looked great in those tights.

Good morning, Wish team!!!! Guess what, I actually have training to report!!!!! Hines and I walked 3 miles last night, it took us 49 minutes, so that's what, a little over 16:00 minute miles? Not stellar, but for being 23 weeks pregnant and not having done much physical activity for the past few weeks, I'll take it! I don't really feel like I've lost a ton of fitness, I'm not running like I was, so I guess I can't really compare the two, but my breathing was fine, my legs didn't hurt, and I didn't get tired. The only thing that bothered me was my back. I guess I'm not used to having the extra weight out front. :teeth: The weather has been so gorgeous here lately, I think Hines and I may go out for another walk tonight.

TX Ang--I meant to tell you yesterday, I'm loving that picture of Sean!! What a cutie! And that hair is killing me! Good luck training for you 5K's and then the half marathon. I'm sad you aren't coming to WDW in January, but I completely understand!

Claire--How awesome that you are getting all of your education now, once you start teaching, you won't have to mess with trying to get your masters or doctorate at night. How is the job outlook for teachers in LA? It's really bad in OH, my sister graduated in 2006 with a degree in ele ed, she had straight A's all through hs and college, dean's list, graduated magna cum laude and still can't find a job, so she's just been subbing for the past 2 years. She said if she can't find something soon, she'll look into getting her license in another state and then move. I hope you'll have better luck than she is having!!

Debra--How interesting, personality analysis based on favorite ice cream flavor. Hmm, I wonder how truthful that would be. For the record, the more mix-in's for me, the better! It sounds like training for you is going really well, are you going Goofy in January? I can't remember.

Craig--Oh, we will definitely be in WDW this January. Stephen is running Goofy and I'm doing the half. I am so excited to take Carter to WDW for the first time I can't stand it! How is Lesley's job going? Did you say that she is looking for a new job?

Jackie--Sorry that your 3 miler was so tough over the weekend! Can we say hill work?! Although, you're probably used to that in NC. How are your legs feeling today? How's my girl Mystic?

Liz--As the princess: of burping, I will definitely be teaching Carter the fine arts of belching. :) I'm almost 30 years old and my dad still gets after me because my burps are so loud and long. :thumbsup2 Sorry if that's TMI for everyone else!

Amy--I am so glad that you are giving your body a much needed rest. I worry about you!! Can you send me my cookies next week? My dreaded sugar test with orange stuff is on Monday, trying to watch the sugar and carbs until then. ;)

Cecilia--:wizard: for your son!! I hope his arm heals quickly!! :rotfl: :rotfl: that you ran all around town in your running tights. I'll usually go to the store on my way home from a running or the gym, but I'm wearing running shorts which are a little less forgiving. :)

Aloha Jeff--Love the sticker!! I have to get a 26.2 sticker for my new car, we have one on our other car, but Stephen is driving that car now. I love it that your daughter is training for a tri, I definitely believe in getting them moving when they are young!

Jen--Still having nice weather? I'm so sorry that your winter was so long! Good luck on the Minnie, I know you and Mel are going to do awesome.

Morgan--You have a great mom!! I love how excited she is. Just goes to show you that even though you are an adult, you are still Momma's baby. I'll be thinking about Saturday morning!

Scott--Did you end up running or on the elliptical last night? You have a ton of self disicpline, if I don't decide what I'm doing before hand and either stop at the gym on my way home or change my clothes as soon as I walk in the door from work, my wo isn't getting done.

Angie--When do you start your new job? On Monday? Are you so excited????? Rest that back!!

I better get off here and start working. I am so looking forward to my 12 weeks of maternity leave!!! :)

Krista

Liz: I'm one of those awful people who used Gel the first time during a race (never never never do anything new on race day!). I actually didn't have any problems with it though. Does this happen when you eat/drink with other foods while running?

Jeff: Thanks on the explanation! Sounds like a fun tri--best of luck to your princess! princess: And your soon-to-be-10 yr old is taller than this just-turned-23 yr old.

Debra:I actually have two lit. reviews going: one on multipotentiality in gifted students (quite dull and my current one) and the other on how teachers are using Harry Potter in the classroom (quite interesting but not due for another couple of weeks). I made trifle with SF pudding recently and I didn't notice anything so your bars should be fine. I think it's just eating it plain that's the problem!

Scott and Amy: Any way we can get the recipe for this scrumptious chocolate chip cookie?

Carol: All you people just zippin down to the World! We want full details! popcorn::

Amy: :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo: :cheer2: Great job getting the rest in!!! :dance3: :yay:  and please please please can i get your ccc recipe?

Cecilia :rotfl: LOL that is hilarious! PD for your son :wizard:

Krista: Yay for getting the walk in! I'm sure Hines is looking forward to the prospect of frequent walks... :teacher: Tell your sister to head down here. She'll have more job offers than she ever thought possible! Personally, I'd like to move to Florida to teach though :rolleyes1 or maybe California... How old will Carter be for his first Marathon Weekend?

Amy: please...

:hippie:

No run today. Instead, I have my riding lesson this morning! I really hope I'm not as sore this week as I was last.

Happy running or resting!

Amy - Yay for taking a break! :grouphug: :grouphug:

Debra - OMG, you're killing me! Coooookies!

Carol - lol about your car color!

Krista - Way too go!!!:thumbsup2

Cecelia - :grouphug: Glad son is ok.

OK, I was a bad girl and skipped yga. Justified it by sying i was goign to get the Pilates for DUmmies DVD (yes,I've been lurking on teh core thread). Oucldn't find it, though, so I went home, ate and went to bed. Does wandering aimlessly around Target count as XT?

License Plates - Live teh tigger one! I saw this one the other day:

2STR2RT
2 star 2 right, second start to the right

HIghlight the line below it if you can't figure it out.

I was thinking that I would really like a creative license plate. So, I started with SIlly Old Bear. Ghought about what I could do with that. Not being creative, I thought about just using the first lestters of eachword. Thought about what that would be :scared1: and decided I was not meant ot have a fun license plate! :rotfl:

Krista: OMG...I *LOVE* Carter's room. What a fantastic job you and Stephen did with it. The furniture is gorgeous!!! He's going to feel so safe and comfy in there. I'm must really so excited for you both. Wish I could send you those cookies LOL! Maybe I'll be doing a LOT of baking before Marathon weekend! AND...16 mpm....that is ROCKIN' girl. You are the cutest little pregnant girl EVER!!!

TXAng: Awww....you aren't going to be in WDW for marathon weekend? Bummer. Good luck finding those local races, I think you'll do great.

Debra: :rotfl2: OMG...the cookie monster song. It's one of my favorites!!!!! I have to say that your training sounds just great. I'm so excited for you on the running w/ no walks...that is a HUGE accomplishment in my book! WTG!!! And thanks for the BIG laugh with the Cookie Monster!!!

Jackie: WTG on the 12 miles on the bike AND core work!!! WTG! :thumbsup2

CarolA: WOW...great pace on your 5 MIles. You have to be so happy about that run!!!! And I cannot believe we missed the cookie place in Nashville. BTW...I just LOVE Nashville. :lovestruc We had such an incredible time there during the CMM!

Christa: :worship: WOAH GIRL! That pace was ROCKIN'!!!! I'm so impressed with what you are able to do! Back to back 8 milers and a long bike ride. I'm really in awe. My body didn't do half that and I'm whining LOL! You are such an inspiration.

Leana: You too girl...I'm sooo impressed with your workouts. Doing a 3 Miler PLUS Fit Ball class is really quite a day of workouts. Take care of yourself...sounds like your training is awesome!!!

Mel:  For getting to that point where you really enjoy running. I have to say that gives me hope...because a lot of times I'm just not really fond of it. I really hope that someday I can get to the point where it's an enjoyable endeavor for me most of the time. I think that is so great you feel that way right now.

Claire: Another fantastic run for you yesterday!!!! AND another riding lesson...that sounds like fun!!! :) Hmmm...I'll have to post my cookie recipe somewhere at some point. Now I'm craving them so I'll may have to bake a batch for myself.

Scott: I think you are way too kind LOL. And here I thought you liked my white choc macadamia cookies best ;) . Thanks for reminding me how much I want to eat cookies....as if all the GS cookies in the house weren't enough!!! Now I want to bake!!!! You'll have to come help me bake cookies for marathon weekend....I'm recruiting you to be me assistant baker. Kinda' like a keebler elf except a lot taller...and with a less annoying voice.

Carrie: LOL! Sometimes when we feel the need to skip a workout it's our body telling us something. Speaking of yoga, I know how much you love the yoga class...I think I want to be really faithful and add a weekly class into my schedule too. I just feel the need to do yoga again more regularly :). What style of yoga is your class?

Angie: My sistah'...thanks for your words of wisdom. I think we may be very similary ;). Anyway...sent you a PM regarding Pilates and the flow class.

Team...THANK YOU all so much for caring at all about me and listening to me whine all week. :grouphug: I have managed to get some decent sleep the last few nights AND I am taking a total rest today, I scheduled a sports massage and a visit to my chiropractor. So hopefully that will take care of everything and I can get out there for a nice run tomorrow. I've also backed my runs off this week to see if I can just get the body back to feeling well. You guys all said such nice things but I still feel that I'm not in any better shape than anyone here. I just know that my body rebels sometimes. I look at so many of you and see what you accomplish each day and I'm in awe...all of you are such an inspiration. Thanks again everyone...I'm taking care of myself now...your posts were a wake up call!!! :sunny:

Greetings Race Team -

Did three miles this morning. My legs and back are killing me, not from training but from all the projects we have going on around the house. I'm taking a rest break from manual labor tonight. I'm getting worn out carrying things up and down stairs and hauling lumber. I'm too old for this! :upsidedow

Krista - Oh Carter's room looks fantastic! :yay: How adorable! And I'm not just saying that because of the honeybee theme! Oh stop worrying about being "ginormous". Isn't that what's supposed to happen? Enjoy it!! I actually think you look really cute and very happy! OK now I have to wonder about where "underneath" Stephen gets the ice stuck. :lmao: Ha ha ha! Hope he's doing well too. We miss him here.

Maura - I LOVE that song! :thumbsup2 It's perfect! Ha ha ha!

Jen - I'm so happy for you! :woohoo: 1) It's not snowing for a change and 2) YAY! Another WDW vacation! :yay:

Morgan - We love you mom! :cloud9:

Debra - WHY oh WHY did you have to mention Chunky Monkey, my ALL TIME favorite???!?! It has about a billion grams of fat so I really try not to indulge. But nothing, nothing is as good as that smooth and creamy banana ice cream with walnuts and chunks of dark chocolate....OK...MUST STOP THINKING ABOUT IT RIGHT NOW! :upsidedow Ha ha ha! :rotfl:

Cecilia - Oh no, the poor little guy! Oh please. Tights? That's nothing. Try running to the store when you've just finished cleaning stalls. Ha ha ha! :rotfl2:

Claire
- What kind of riding lesson are you taking? popcorn::

Amy
- Yay, those are two good ideas. You can't go wrong with a massage! :goodvibes

Oh, one more thing....Paging Dr Solo! Dr Solo! Your women are looking for you. Paging Dr Solo! :rolleyes1

Amy - lol. I've always said it's easier to give rest advice than take it. ;) I take gentle/beginner's yoga. I have the coordination adn flexibility of a rock, so it still works for me after 6 months. The instructor is very good and leaves the mental aspect of things very generic. That's the part that always scared me away, so it's great. I think replacing one of your normal workouts with a yoga one is a great idea. I think your body would thank you for it!

Judy - Take care of yourself tonight. Can I recommend a bubble bath and a good book?

OK, I have to share my words of wisdom from an almost 5 year old.

Have you seen the Weight Watcher commercial that plays ALL THE TIME? It says "Diets Don't Work". So Kate (turns 5 next week) told me the other day that I don't have to drink Diet soda because Diets Don't Work, Weight Watchers Does. Oh, your too cute.

THEN... she tells me Monday after I picked her up from pre-school, MOM, Mrs. S drinks Diet Soda. I told her that Diets Don't Work. I say... did you tell her anything else?? She says, Yah, Weight Watchers Does.

Oh Dear, no wonder she is in trouble all the time. Her teacher is a little chubby, so I hope she has a good sense of humor. Poor little girl meant it in the most innocent way.

As for the WDW vacation, I told the girls to GUESS WHAT. I asked them where they wanted to go this summer. You know where??? Camping. UGHHHH, then DD7 said NO DISNEY WORLD. So all is good in our house!!!
