Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Krista - We have a bout an inch on the ground. DOn't know what we got total and don't want to. It was 10 when I got up this am aand we had a wind advisory. Didn't want to know the temp with the windchill either. Easter here is supposed to be colder than Thanksgiving, Christmas or V-day were. Yuck!

Cam - Have a wonderful weekend!

Kristi - :wizard: fro your niece!

Rhonda - I love your sig too!

Leana - Thanks for the discount!

OK, I skimmd big time, been a rough few days.

Doc Report - OK, saw the NP this am. She doesn't htink I have one leg longer than the other, but it could explain things, so she sent me fro an x-ray. She just has a puzzled look on her face and says, "You know, I think you might be ebtter off at a sports med clinic. Would you be open to going there?" Woo ho! I did not know we had one locally. I have tons of respect fro people who admit they don't know and refer me to where someone can help. So, I go there at 9 am MOnday.

From teh Doc's, I went to the health center for teh x-ray. Checked in, sat and waited to register. Registered, waited to get called back. Got called changed, went to x-ray room. Tech is on teh phone finidign out how to do x-ray. Tech gets off phone and tells em they don' tdo that kind there. Get drissed, drive down to hospital, check in. They act like they know who I am and I thinkiit's ppossible, as they were just on the phone for me. "You're Nanacy, right?" Um, no. I explain, as I am already in teh computer from place #1. SHe sends me to next place. Check in. Explain. Wait...... Get called back. Change. Wait...... Go in adn the tech is rather gruff. He mumbled a couple things to me, but I didn't understand. Bang the table around several ways, takes several shots, leaves and says don't nmove while I look at these. Wait.....not moving....everything itches...still not moving....wait... He comes back. Says ok adn that's it. SO, I don't know when I'll hear on that. I figrued that while every part of my body was itching and I struggled not to move, he was figuring something out. Probably just seeing if he had everythign needed, WHo knows.

So, that xray took about 2 hours. Only me.... I think I'll be off until Monday, as things still hurt today and I haven't run since Tuesday. :(

Oh Carrie...I don't like this.

Judy - It'll be ok. We'll see what happens next week and get a game plan. I can up teh XT adn maybe I can do the elyptical. Gettign to a pool would be tough, but that's an option. My strength is there and I've been doing 5 to 7, so I know I can do 9. Martha may have to tell me after the race how it feels to do 9 miles at a 10:30 pace, but I knw that I can atleast finish, even if it hurts durign the race, as long as I don't make it worse now. Thanks for teh , though. Been quite a week.

Carrie

You take care and look after yourself. We all want you to be healthy, fast, and happy.

Craig

I'm another one stuck in this NE weather. It is so cold and windy out that no way am I going outside to do my LW for the week. I had been doing it on Thursdays since it had been so nice the past couple of weeks.

Krista Thanks for the veggie receipe. DS#1 is a vegetarian and everytime he comes home to visit I just keep making the same thing for him, this will be a nice change for him.

Kristi Congratulations to your neice. I watched that show last summer, so hope I can get to see her in this years competetion.

Lunch is over back to work.

Nancy

Still no training, unless you count walking to the car and running around town for everyone. ;) Everyone is still doing good and the doctors feel that we can go home tomorrow sometime. Lynnda was able to catch up on everyone a little but then nurses came in for even more tests. I have determined that it is impossible to schedule anything around here.

Although the most important thing was done. Timmy had his first official pictures done. It is amazing how they can get even more money out of parents.:rotfl:

Laurie - Good job on the 3 and 5 miles. That is a great time. Hope your hockey team does well tonight.

Cindy - Good job on the pace yesterday. You are doing great.

Leana - I think I will keep Lynnda away from there for a while. She might get in too much trouble with another discount. :lmao:

Martha - I hope the weather is good for you this weekend. It could be worse and snowing though.

Kristi - Congrats on your niece. Hope you have a good time in the big city and that you get plenty of TV time. I also hope she does well in the competition.

Angie - Great job on getting out and with the pace. The time off doesn't seem to have hurt anything.

Andrew - Great job on getting the training in. Hope you are able to get a training schedule that works for you.

Dave - Good to hear from you. Hope the pain goes away for your long run coming up. Hope the weather isn't too bad for you.

Krista - Slacking off now are we...Hope you can get something in tonight. Although you could send the snow down here. I wouldn't object too much right now since we are melting.

Judy - Witchy-Poo hair, I can say that I have never heard of that before. Good job on the training run. That was a great pace.

Sunny - Glad you were able to get a run in this morning. Hope it is clear for you this weekend as well. Hope your toes get better soon.

Christa - I'll let you do the 100 miles first and probably second and third as well.

Martha - Hope you feel better after the training session.

Carrie - Hope they can find something out at the Sports Clinic. Hope the appointment is a little better than getting the x-rays. Wishing you luck that it is something simple to fix.

Nancy - Hope things get better with the weather for you. It is sooooo much easier to do the runs outside.

I think we are getting visitors now so I had better go.

Bill

Carrie- I just wanted to WISh you all the best. Sorry you're having so much trouble right now, and that your Dr appointment was such a pain (no pun intended). Hope they figure something out soon. Get better and stay healthy.

I haven't been around in awhile (OK just this week), but that is because I haven't done anything. LTO as you all refer to it. I have had a very difficult week and am struggling to keep my head up high. I did my 7 miles on Sunday, nothing on Monday, attempted Balance Ball workout on Tuesday and that went all wrong, nothing yesterday because I forgot my bag.... TONIGHT I plan to run the indoor track during DD's gymnastics.

We are very cold and windy here. I don't think we have been in the 20's with windchills dropping it lower. This is not supposed to happen in April. Everyone is sick with colds and it's nuts. So I have been stuck indoors again, it's quite depressing.

Bill - CONGRATS on the beautiful boy. I have 2 girls and love having the same sex kids.

Judy - Glad to see you are back at training. I get that hairdo all the time, except mine is longer and can really be wicked!

Kristi - That is cool about NYC. Keep us posted.

Carrie - I hope everything works out. I hate being in pain and don't think anyone should have to endure it!!!

Krista - You are the cooking queen. All week I have planned meals, except for tonight. Looks like leftovers, kids!!!!!!

Dave - Oh the Lodge... I so love it. We are thinking of taking a relaxing trip this summer and may go value for the first time ever. I have heard great things about Pop and may try it out. But the Lodge is my Love (and the Poly, but only been there once). I still giggle about then I met you. My DH looked at you like... WHAAAA?? And then we started talking like we were old friends.

OK, work is kicking my butt this week. My assistant is officially gone and we haven't gotten a replacement yet. So I am doing it all. My assistant was the best ever and I sadly miss her. She decided to go back to being a mom.

Carrie--I hope Mondays appt will give you some answers (and that they are good answers!!)

Kristi--That is so exciting! Let us know all about it!!

Bill--How exciting that it is almost time to take our newest member home!!

I was "scheduled" to run 3 miles today, but after 2 I just did not feel good. It has been 3 hours since I stopped and I still feel very lightheaded and it feels like I am spinning in circles. I don't know what is going on, but I hope it is a one time thing and that it goes away quickly!!

I did however do a little bit of speedwork thanks to this guy:scared1: :scared1:

We were leaving to go get DS#1 from school and he was on our porch. I ran as fast as I could to the car and then when we got home I ran equally as fast back into the house. We see him quite a bit in the back yard, but not in the walkway from the front door. If it really is the same snake, it looks like someone got a part of his tail since last week. I imagine for the next couple of days I will continue my quick runs to and from the car!!:scared: :scared1:

Jen- I have to say your week sounds very similar to mine. It's been pretty lousy to say the least. Not so great at work, not so great at home, and since my DW and I work together - that intersection has not been so fantastic right now either... What can you do, it's just one of those weeks, and I too am trying to keep my head up (although, I'm probably not doing a very good job). I keep telling myself that no one's sick or injured or anything, and there are other people that are certainly dealing with a lot worse situations, but it's just been a very frustrating week.

I've been telling myself that fro about 10 weeks now. Just a stinky job situation and things could be worse. SOmehow, it doean't help like it should. :confused3

Jen & Dave - hope things get better for you soon!

Whew! I just finished skimming!!

Carrie - Hope you get some answers soon!!

Dave - How is your left booty? Mine is still sore (duh!) I just keep running, just keep running, la,la,la,la... You get the idea. I told someone about you and Steve b/c he was talking about traiining for a marathon while having very little cartilge left in his knee. He is an aqua jogger!! I didn't tell him about the term "swogging" , but i did tell him I had friends who did that!

Colleen - Scout camp sounds interesting!!

I did get to mt. bike today. I was much slower than usual, but I had 2 major factors working against me!! I have trouble w/ the cold and the air is full of pollen!! by the time i was finished riding, my voice was almost gone. I was stuffed up from cold and pollen!! Anyway, I put the time in.

My next adv race was supposed to be april15, but I backed out as Phil and I would both be racing and it would leave my mom to watch the boy alone (dad busy w/ turkey season) It is suppposed to be a much shorter race w/ a win time of 6-8hrs. I'm going to rest that weekend and then I'll be racing an 8-16 hr. adv race w/ an all women's team in early May!

I also got a job this week!! It makes such good use of my master's in rehab counseling!! I'm working in the bike shop of a local outdoor store (Lewis and Clark - Stephanie, one is opening in LR soon!) I'm going to be selling bikes/ bike clothes and learning how to be a real bike mechanic!!!! I'm very excited about it!!!!!!

This is why we call you patient. I work in the medical field and how well I know how frustrating this can be. Hope you find some answers to your problem.

Nancy

Dave - DH and I work together also... Hmmmm, coincidence? I have all the same issues as you and it just basically stinks right now. AND, it's cold and windy and spring went away. Can things get worse... I guess they could. I hope things get better for you soon... as for me also!!!

Mel - Some days I dream of leaving my job for a fun job that is based on one of my hobbies. Hope you enjoy it!!

Carrie - Yah, it gives me a paycheck, right?

Dave, Jen: Here's some pixiedust: that things get better.

Carrie: yikes! :scared1: I HATE it when that happens. You just worry about getting some relief and back to health. Don't worry about me! You'll still whip my butt time-wise!

Mel: congratulations!!! A new job is what I dream about. I'm so very happy for you!

sap1227: your speed work "inspiration" would sure make me run REALLY fast!

Nancy: doesn't this weather just suck!?! I'm mean, come on!! Do we REALLY need snow this time of year? I say, NO but does Mother Nature listen to me? Nooooooo. We so did not need that snow last night! Bring back spring. Now.

Bill: is everyone home? How are they doing?

Off to start dinner. I decided on shrimp, broiled with couscous. Have a great evening everyone!!

I also got a job this week!! It makes such good use of my master's in rehab counseling!! I'm working in the bike shop I'm going to be selling bikes/ bike clothes and learning how to be a real bike mechanic!!!! I'm very excited about it!!!!!!

Yeah, Melissa, sounds great!

Oh, by the way, Sara and I are running Marine Corps marathon together in October and would love to add a third amigo!:dance3: Afterall, you have experience running with both of us now. As I see it, it is a natural progression.:)

Hi WISH Team!

LTO is brutal. I've managed to update the calendar. Please take a moment to check and add if you're not on. I'm in line with training for the Minnie (well except the last 2 weeks were a bit off) and all else is plodding along. I miss everyone. :grouphug:

Happy Easter!

Nancy - lol. I try to be patient. I'd liek to think I'm better than most. I fear that one more stop would have put me over the edge, though. ;)

Melissa - That sounds like an awesome job! I was telling Scott about your PUSS Tuesday on our run. Hmmm..perhaps I should be giving my resume' to the local running shop. ;)

Jen - Until recently, just telling myself that it pays for my DVC has helped. These days, I think unemployment would cover our bills. I've got to think that we coudl save a lot of money if one of us actually had some time.

sap (forgive me I always forget your first name) - EWWWWWWWWWW!!!! That's why I don't live in FL! (I know, we have them here too, but for a very short season and only 1 poisonous)

Bill - Glad things are going well. lol about the money. It doesn't get any better, as you know. ;)

MArtha - You've been flying!!!! If I wasn't slightly injured for real, I might have had to make it up as an excuse for being so far beihind you. ;) ;)

Thanks for the kind thouguhts everyone. I'm sure it'll work out just fine.

How very cool! What made you want to do that (I mean get a job.). WTG on the bike ride...I am right there with you on the pollen!:headache:

Biked today and boy does my butt hurt! I did 30 miles, the longest I have ever done!
Several things I learned today on the bike!
1. My tri shorts don't cut it on a 30 mile ride. I need some new bike shorts.
2. Wipe off your H2O bottle b/4 drinking or you may get a mouth full of dirt!
3. If you are walking 50,000 dogs, and taking up the whole trail...Do not wear headphones so you can hear me YELL "Passing on your left".
4. If you (well me) are going to yell pass on your left, don't pass on the right....I guess I need to learn my left form my right.
5. I need new bike shorts!
6. After riding long, it is not easy to get off the bike. Swinging the leg over the bike hurts.
7. Make sure a police car is not behind you when the light turns green. This is mainly if he is going to pull someone over and turns on the real loud siren! Yes this happened today and I almost fell off my bike in the middle of the intersection.
8. I need new bike shorts!
9. My legs get cold on the bike even at 60 degrees!:confused3
10. And last! I need to put a warning out before I ride b/c the WISH shirt is so bright, that people were blinded as I passed them.:rotfl:

Off to start dinner. I decided on shrimp, broiled with couscous. Have a great evening everyone!!
RedDragon - Can I come over for dinner? THat sounds so good!

Everyone still dealing with really cold weather and snow! Here is lots of :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for you!

Dave and Jen - Hope things get better soon!:grouphug:

Carrie - Lots of :grouphug: and :wizard: for you to get some answers soon.

Christa - I'll let you do the 100 miles first and probably second and third as well.
Come on Bill! I will run 100 if you will!:rolleyes1 I need someone to enter into my craziness! I may want to try 50 miles 1st.:scared1: Nah, I really have no desire to run that far.

Good evening WISHers!! Just got back from a really good 8 miler!! 8 miles ave 8:33 pace!:cool1: I had to move my LR from Sat. to today b/c I will be on a plane on Sat. morning. I know, Poor me!!;)

Melissa--How cool on the new job. I tell DH that I need a job at Easy Runner, but for some reason he disagrees with this-maybe the fact that I'd spend more than I'd earn has something to do with it!

Carrie--Hope you get some answers soon! And, yuck on having to be so "patient"

Christy--You've got to warn somebody before just showing pics like that--especially someone with a HUGE snake phobia!:scared1:

Kristi--Have fun in NYC--and good luck to your niece!!!

Christa--don't ya just love those folks taking up the whole trail. I was jogging on a trail during our running clinic a few weeks ago, and I came upon two women walking, taking up the entire trail. I said "On your left". The lady looked at me and said "We are NOT part of your group" really nasty. I was thinking, next time I'll not be so curteous and just run you over!

Well, I should shower and hang with the famiily! Have a great evening all!
