Wk of Apr 1--WISH Walking/Running Club

Hi Lily,

Good to see you. What is LTO? Good luck with Minnie:cheer2:

Hi WISH Team!

LTO is brutal. I've managed to update the calendar. Please take a moment to check and add if you're not on. I'm in line with training for the Minnie (well except the last 2 weeks were a bit off) and all else is plodding along. I miss everyone. :grouphug:

Happy Easter!

LTO - Life Took (is taking, has taken) Over, as in when you're not around because life happened or LIfe Took Over.

Got it, thanks Carrie. I'm not "hip" to computer lingo yet. lol:surfweb:

This is Sunny Lingo that has turned into WISH lingo, so you'd be hard pressed to see the def. elsewhere. ;)

Greetings Racing Team -

Today was a XT day, for what it's worth. I did 20 min on the TM @ 4.0 then took the stationary bike for a spin. While finishing The King and I.

Melissa - Congratulations on the new job! :thumbsup2 I hope you really enjoy it. You should be right in your element.

Christa - You need new bike shorts. :upsidedow

MikeOptimator - OMG that's perfect! :rotfl: I must be getting old....Trout Fishing In America???

Yay! There's Anne! I missed you! :yay:

Dave - I was thinking of you this morning and I hope today is a better day for you. I too WISH you could do everything. It would greatly increase the chances of getting to actually meet you. :)

Krista - I'm at work too. Although there aren't too many other people here. Just enough to annoy me, though. BTW, like the dope that I am, I paid $350.00 for inserts, and wore them ONCE. I hate them. :headache: Very much.

Stephanie
- Enjoy your vacation! :boat:

Jen - Ohhh you get out at noon......Hmmm...that sounds like a good idea. However, I just got here at 10:00. Not that there is a problem with that plan. :car:

Vic - That clippie scares me...:scared:

Anne - Welcome back! We missed you.

Melissa - Congrats on the job. My brother liked it so much, he bought the bike shop!

Stephanie - Have fun! I'm so envious.

Krista - Hope tossing the inserts helps.

I'm one of the poor souls working today too. Although working is a loose term... And I have no training to report since Wednesday. Migraine came on with a vengeance Wed night, went home from work yesterday and slept all afternoon. Shins have stopped hurting, thanks to all the great stretching info, but I have shooting pains in my right heel. Is that PF? I'm taking it easy for a few days, but I'm trying to use the bike when the migraine isn't winning the war.

Jackie

Working today? Psh! I'm working tonight! :( Heavy flying week for me with flights on Monday night, Wednesday night, Thursday night, and tonight... But I have got in some workouts, 60 min bike on Tue, 35 min run on Wed, 20 min swim and 90 min bike on Thur, and going to try for 35 min swim and 35 min run today.

Tomorrow going for a long ride of 2 hours which will be my longest ever, and should get about 33 miles in which is the length of the bike leg of the duathlon the next weekend. Then a 60 min long run Sunday.

Keep it up with your training, the Minnie is a month away!

I knew there was a reason I was sleeping well this week. :thumbsup2 Now get out there and earn that flight pay. ;)

OptiMike - Love the song!

Hey, I like that, "OptiMike":thumbsup2

Vic-- yo, w'supp wit you, dog?:cool2: :rotfl2: Nice clippie.:thumbsup2 Wish I was going.

Anne-- so good to see you:hug:

Carrie-- I have been out of touch, what injury(ies) are you going through? I'm so sorry you had to be sooo patient (great pun, Nancy). I can totally relate. The only reason I didn't go postal at Lahey a few times is because I looked around the waiting room and realized there were about 80 other people being patient, so I guessed I should be too.

Jenn-- I don't know anyone in RL that isn't working today:confused3 But of course the schools are closed. Enjoy brunch!

MelR-- Congrats on the bike shop job. I think we all should wait until 30-something to go to school. How in the world are you supposed to know what you want to be when you grow up if you haven't grown up yet? Clearly, you were meant to work with bikes:thumbsup2

Matt - Are you a pilot?

Well I sure hope so, or we're going to have to do some testing to find out what he's flying high on:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm sorry, Goofy-ness is taking over..... that's alot better than LTO!

Krista-- I sure hope ditching the inserts will solve your problem:wizard:

Sunny

Hey All!
Rest day today...from "training" anyway.
Will do LR tomorrow..then next weekend is the 1/2 with my sis!:cool1:

Matt - Good luck on your working and the ride. I feel good that it takes you 2 hours for 33 miles. I did my 30 in a little less than 2 hours and was not sure if that was a good time or not...You are fast, so if that is your pace then I feel good with my pace.;)

Jackie - So sorry about your migraine. Hope you feel better.:grouphug:

Melissa - That is a GREAT reason to get that job...sounds like fun!:woohoo: Maybe I need to stop using my Masters in Counseling and get a job at a running store. I don't know enough about biking to work at a bike shop.

Krista - So sorry about your insert trouble. Hope yout LR works out great without them.

Vic - Cool and scary clippy! :scared1: I will be at WDW then, but I just have to get DH to agree to the race. He isn't really wanting me to do it. Maybe if I get sis involved then we could do it together.

Sunny - I should not whine so much. It's incredibly minor compared to what you went through. I feel like every tendon in my right leg is tight. The one in my hamstring area adn teh back of teh heel are worst. Two 3+-day breaks and ice adn advil/alieve have not helped. Seeing as I have done no more than 7 miles, I just don't see why I should be hurt. ENd of teh marathon training, ok, it's frm overuse. This just doesn't seem right, though. With the Minnie a month a way, I don't want to chance it.

Nancy--That is cool that your sons played hockey! I imagine that you got to travel around a lot while your sons were playing. I actually just started playing about 6 years ago, and I love it, so my parents never had to take me to all the games! I play at Floyd Hall Arena in Montclair, NJ most of the time, although I do play at the Ice House in Hackensack a lot also. Keep that equipment, maybe your sons will play in a men's league at a local rink at some point. It is such a great sport, and I LOVE playing! And, my DBF tells me that I have been playing much better in my games since I started training for my half marathon!!

A quick drive by while I have a little break.

Lynnda and Timmy made it home from the hospital today. It was actually a fairly quick discharge this time around. Everyone seems to be doing well at home and they seem more relaxed here. The dog wants to play with his new buddy and we are trying to get him to calm down a little. :rotfl:

Anne and Lily - It is good to see you back here. Hope things calm down a little for you.

Hope everyone's training goes well this weekend. Better go and see what the squeaking is all about.

Glad to hear everyone made it home safe and sound.

Laurie - I am so jealous!!! I played in college, just IM. I miss it sooo much. I think it really could have been a grat spoort fo me in HS, but it was unheard of then. SAdly, women's teams are pretty scarce in my area. :( Then again, I don't know where I'd find the time anyway. Glad you are enjoying it! I'd imagine you're a little longer btwn line changes these days. The extra stamina would do wonders!

Carrie--That is so cool that you played hockey in college!!! I wish I had started earlier. I am surprised that you don't have any women's teams in your area. We have quite a few women's teams in the NY/NJ area. In fact, I was playing for awhile on a women's team and we went all over the area playing different teams, it was a lot of fun. Now, I don't really have alot of time for all the traveling, so I play on two different men's league teams that are local, and I love it! No line changes for me, I am the goalie.......although sometimes, I wish I could take a break on the bench!! :rotfl2:

Bill and Lynnda--Glad to hear everyone is home!! Enjoy the weekend!

Hello Everyone!!

All I can say is MINNIE here I come!!:dance3:

So I found out yesterday that my office is closed today (with pay  ) pretty cool for a construction company!! -- You have to remember I'm still a college student :rotfl: -- I'm not used to these little perks. Anyway I decided on whim to do my long run today - instead of sunday (since it is Easter and I would much rather spend it with my family) anyway I am so excited:

I did 8 miles at:
8:45 pace -
I am trying to catch up to Stephanie so I can run with her at Minnie:lmao:
I do have to say that the major cool down we got here helped a lot!!

I have to get back to my homework, sorry I don't have time to catch up with everyone, I was just so excited I had to share my great news with the only people in the world - except DH - who understand how good stuff like this feels.

P.S. - There are 2 things I am a MAJOR wimp about: (1) running by myself
and (2) running with no music. Today I did both - DH is having MAJOR back problems and battery on MP3 died at mile 1!!

Have a good night

angie

OK, so it looks like I left Sunday to go check last week's thread and fell off the face of the earth.....

To quote Lily, it's been an LTO week....

Let's see... Monday was spent at the hospital. Mark had a biopsy in a "Lance Armstrong" sort of place and I needed to be there and drive him home. Cancer-free, thank goodness. The remainder of Monday and all of Tuesday was spent at his back and call... "Kevin, change my ice pack." "Kevin, help me to the bathroom." "Kevin, I can't find the remote." Last night I had a modeling gig (Shut Up. To those of you who have me me in person, shut up double.) :rotfl: I have a friend working on his MFA portfolio and apparently I was guillible enough to help. Just got home from from temple (did I mention it is snowing here??) and Sunday I have a super fun Easter dinner with the inlaws!

That said, I've hit the gym five times this week, run 14 miles (9:30 pace, it seems, no matter what I do), attend all my classes and managed to keep up with my job. Thank goodness in 2.5 weeks the semester will be over!! Only two major papers and four final exams to go!

I apoligize for not doig individuals this evening... I'll try to catch up with everyone tomorrow. Just wanted you all to know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.....

Kevin :earsboy:

Hi everyone! Sounds like most trainings are going well.

Carrie - hope your leg is feeling better :grouphug:

MelR - Congrats on the job! And something you enjoy, too. It'll be so much fun!

Krista - Hope getting rid of the othos makes you pain free.:grouphug:

Angie - Great job on your run!:thumbsup2 You were zoomin!

Stephanie - Have a great vacation!

Lily - Glad to hear you're doing ok.

Anne - Nice to see you back. :wave2: How are you doing?

Well, I went to the PT today for my first visit. he did an eval and I got to stick my foot into a warm whirlpool :) . The PT gave me a list of stretches to do (did them tonight and my leg was suing me for abuse  ). But, since I'm not in pain and actually have pretty good range of motion, the PT said there's not much he could really do for me at the center, that I couldn't do at home. And why pay the co-pay to go there when I can do it myself? I like his thinking. I am going to see him next week for 2 visits, but that'll probably be it. Just to make sure I'm doing the stretches properly. I go back to the Dr. on 4/19 and will most likely be able to ditch the crutches then.

The hardest part is trying to be patient. Like when I get rid of the crutches, not tryint to go full speed/all day long. I have to take it slow. Patience is not my strong suit. I'm hoping the doc says I can start xt. At least that'll keep the weight/pounding off the foot, but still let me work out.

Have a Happy Easter everyone!

Terri
