Matt - Are you a pilot? :confused3

Actually a Fire Control Officer, which is a somewhat complicated job to describe but basically I direct the engagements of the AC-130U gunships that the USAF employs. An airborne weapons platform used to support troops on the ground. The pilot keeps the plane airborne while I keep the weapons blastin. Make sense?

Do a google or youtube search for AC-130U and you'll see plenty of leaked video of us in action early in the war.

Good Morning Team: :surfweb:

I'm waking up and fueling up for my LR. Not too much to report this morning. I SWOGged 30 min yesterday, and ran 1.09 miles with the princesses, DD6 princess: and DD9 princess:, for their 5K training. It wasn't our best training week, but I give them credit for getting out there when it was pretty cold - especially yesterday. Right now it's 20 degrees. I had to dig out my long underwear baselayer - boooooo.

Dave! I am doing the same thing....well, about an hour later. Gearing up for a sorta LR...will do 4 miles with sis and hope to get there early so to throw another 4 miles in.
Checked the weather and it is in the 20s here too!:confused3 WHAT?!?! It was 60 yesterday!
Let me try to find my cold weather gear!

Dave and Christa--WOAH!! You two are up early!! I hope your LR's went well, and you stayed warm!!

Angie--Great pace on your run!! And WTG for running on your own and without music! I can run by myself, but not sure if I could do it without my music!!

I am getting ready to head out for my 8 mile LR, at least it isn't as cold here in NJ, but it is still unseasonably cool!

I will check in later when I get back and catch up with everyone else!!

Carrie

I am so sorry about your leg especially being so close to MINNIE but you are so smart to not take a chance. About a year a go when I was still going to the gym all of the time and had never run outside before, my calf started hurting on and off, I would not listen to my body (I was still obsessed with my weight at the time :confused3 ) and I pushed it until I limped off the treadmill crying and I could not run for 3 MONTHS!!!!!

But I REALLY hope they can at least tell you what's wrong.:grouphug:

Greetings Team:

Yeah, I get up at 5am and try to hit the road by 7am for my usual Saturday LR. That way it doesn't influence the rest of the family schedule too much. I was scheduled for 12-13 today, but I only ended up doing 8. I did 8.65 miles in 1:21.33 min/9:26 mpm. I wasn't really feeling into the run this morning. I think it was cold, and I was getting a little tired of my route. I also think the frustration of last week kind of took it out of me too. Plus, Grandma's here and we were going to dye Easter Eggs. I've been way ahead on the training schedule for my 1/2M, so I figured I wouldn't push it. Give my booty a little rest too. OK, it's sounding like I have lots of excuses for cutting my run short - maybe too many excuses...
I ran 9 on Sunday and over 8 today, so I did OK with the mileage this week. Next week, I have a 14-15 miler, and we're going to take a day trip down to the Finger Lakes so I can run somewhere different and we can get out of town.

Hope everyone else is having a good weekend.

So, I missed even checking the boards yesterday and there are 4 pages to catch up on! :scared1: Yikes! Yesterday was one of those LTO. DD had foot surgery for a mallet toe. The cut some tendon, ground some bone and stuck a pin in. DH was with her through it and she came through with flying colors but she is on crutches so cannot really do anything. So once I got home it was fetch and carry. I don't mind and she is bummed that she is so helpless (I tell her to stop grousing and enjoy it). But it is extra work. And work was busier than usual even with so many people out. I just couldn't get to the boards! I HATE it when that happens.

Then, while making dinner, greased popped and hit me in the face, I burned my finger on the pan and dropped a cutting board on my foot! Nice bruise. While at the grocery store, I reached for a box of rice and 3 fell. Then while helping DH get a song from my playlist to his iPod, I accidently transferred 82 songs!! He was not amused. It took him an hour to find the ones he didn't want and remove them. In the process I did transfer the one song, miraculously.

It was this morning before I realized I hadn't even been on the boards. Sigh. So I'm really behind and I know I'll miss a lot of people but here goes.

Carrie: :wizard: for that leg! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it heals quickly.

Matt: if you're looking for target practice, I got a few people I'd like to scare...if only a little....

Dave: I really admire how your DDs are sticking to the training! You should be really proud. Even in times of low motivation, they really seem dedicated to doing this. Kudos to you!!!!!

Terri: wow! A PT who is willing to say you can do as well at home as you can with him! That is great. Be patient--it will be rewarded.

Kevin: great job on the training run. I totally understand the fetch and carry piece (see above). Now, about those photos........;)

Nancy: so I put off my LR that was scheduled for today b/c they predicted rain and snow showers. DH and I are going to run tomorrow afternoon at the high school track. Woke up this morning and guess what? No rain or snow today--it's now predicted for tomorrow afternoon!!! Aaaarrrggghhh!! You know, if I missed predictions this much at work, I wouldn't be employed! How DO they get away with it. But I digress....I hope your weekend warms up better than it looks like ours will!

Vic: LOVE the clippie for ToT!!!

Bill: so happy to hear everyone is home and doing well!

Lily: missing you much! :wizard: that things get better for you soon!

Cam: hope the trip is going well and you're having fun

Judy: tomorrow is the day, right!?!

Gotta run. I hope everyone has a great weekend. If you celebrate Easter, I hope it's happy for you. Enjoy your families!

I am very pleased with todays LR! We did 6 miles today in just under 1 hour 9 mins (last week we did 5 miles in 1 hour and 2 mins, so we were really pleased--I think it is the cold front we had come through so it was not sooo hot!). I can not believe how soon the Minnie will be here!!

Dave-Good job on your run even though it was not what you planned! Some days we just don't feel it (or if you are me, everyday you just don't feel it:rolleyes1 )

Christa-Good Luck on your LR today

Terri-It sounds like you are doing great!! I hope you can get rid of those crutches soon!

Kevin-Just keep focusing on getting through the next 2 and a half weeks! It will be over in no time!

Angie
-I hope your day off was nice yesterday! What a great surprise! I can only dream of the day I am fast enough to keep up with you and Stephanie:charac2: Sorry about the MP3 player, I HATE it when that happens!

Bill-Have a wonderful first weekend home!!

Carrie
-I am so sorry that ice and "rest" are not helping.

Have a great weekend and a wonderful Easter!!

Checked the weather and it is in the 20s here too!:confused3 WHAT?!?! It was 60 yesterday!
Let me try to find my cold weather gear!

Brrr! I got up to run this morning too, but chickened out because of the cool, damp wind! Brrr! I had my air conditioner on a few days ago.

Can't wait to hear the LR reports. Dave, what kind of weather did you run in today?

Hi Colleen - It was brisk cold around 20 degrees this morning for my run. I had on 2 layers on the bottom and 4 layers on top, and I was fine with the temperature. Thankfully it wasn't windy (no kick'n chik'n wind) or precipitating - so I was OK. Although I think my sinuses dried out with breathing in the cold air because I've been sneezing ever since getting home.

Dave glad to see you got out there too! You are what pushed me out the door!;)

Ran an out and back course 2x. 2 miles out and (duh) 2 miles back. I like to run the route b/4 I run it with sis so I look like I know where I am going.:lmao:

here is the break down:
Me by myself! The 1st 2 miles are totally UP HILL! Sis is going to kill me is what I am thinking...well at least the back part is down hill. I did that in 17 min (8:30 MPM) and this includes 3 rather long stop lights.
The 2nd 2 miles are down! Well kind of...how can this be up hill both ways?:confused3 Did it in 16 min with the same 3 stop lights....8 MPM!:cool1:
Sis joins me and we do the 4 miles in 44 min....we were at the turn around point at 22 so she ran a strong 11 MPM! She is going to do great next weekend! Oh, this still includes the 3 stop lights!:yay:

Hey there WISH TEAM:

I got back a little while ago from my 8 mile LR. This is the farthest run I have ever done, and I felt great!!! I finished in 1:15 with an average pace of 9:20

I am very excited about the run, I felt great the whole time, and I wasn't really that tired at the end. My half marathon is in 3 weeks, and I am so excited for it, I can't wait!!

Kevin--WOW, sounds like you had a really busy week! Glad to hear you were able to get some training in despite all you had going on!

Terri--That's great that you will be able to do a lot of your PT at home.

Matt--sounds like you have an exciting job!!

Dave--nice job on your run! We are all entitled to days when we just don't feel it. Enjoy the rest of the day with your family!

Martha-sounds like a busy day for you yesterday! I hope the rain/snow holds off so you can get your run in tomorrow.

sap1227--nice job on your LR!

Christa---AWESOME JOB on your run!! You are flying girl!!!

Good luck to everyone doing LR's and races today, can't wait to hear all about them!!

Ok, the short version of American Inventor...

Molly needed 3 of the 4 judges to say "yes" to advance. She got 2 out of 4. :-(
(I still think 2 out of 4 is amazing!)

She said one judge said he wanted more detail on her drawing. Umm, she's 9! And I thought it had everything pointed out. I asked her a few times yesterday what they said and she just says they asked her questions.

Even if she got the 3 votes, they only then choose one person from each major city. So, the ones who got yeses yesterday had to do all kinds of paperwork and fedex it asap. Then from those people, then choose one in a meeting in the next 4-6 weeks.

She came out of the room bawling! We were standing there waiting for her (all 9 of us!) with the cameras rolling. I think we all were crying or trying not to cry since she was so upset. BUT the neat part was that George Foreman brought her out to us since she was so upset and young. Molly had no clue who that was, but we thought that was sweet of him.

So, Molly will be on one of the first shows when they show people in NY trying out. And they will most likely be showing her in front of the judges too, then all of us afterwards.

It was so cute - everyone on the crew knew Molly and kept talking to her & asking her how she was doing, etc. They really did like her.

I have no idea when this airs. Someone even mentioned summer.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

We were done before noon and I didn't want to leave the city without doing something fun. So, we stayed in nyc with Zack & Molly (thought it might cheer her up). We saw the Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, World of Disney Store, Toys R Us, ate at Mars 2112, etc.

Then we took the subway back to our car. Apparently we were on the wrong train or something and we took a 2 hour detour through Brooklyn! We got to our van at 11pm! Needless to say, we stopped overnight last night instead of driving home. Always drama with me! But until the subway snafu, we had alot of fun!

eta: Molly is doing fine with all this. She is telling everyone that she is trying out again next year!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will be back on the training bandwagon tomorrow.... :thumbsup2

Dave, Christa and Colleen - we have that same "cold" thing going on here too!!! Last week it was in the 80's. When I rode on Thurs, it was cold, (30's)which makes me feel stuffed up and since the spring stuff is in full bloom, there was pollen in the air everywhere!!! When I got back in the car after my ride, I got on my cell phone (of course) and my voice was even strained from all the cold and pollen!!

Took a rest day yesterday. I'm thinking i'll just run on the TM or ride the trainer if it doesn't warm up. (Probably take a mid-day run tomorrow if it gets into the 40's)

Kristi--That's too bad for Molly that she didn't get chosen. I didn't realize she was only 9!!! That is amazing for a 9 year old. I can't wait to see the show on TV you will have to keep us updated as to when it will be on. Glad you had fun in NYC even with the subway snafu. I go to NYC all the time, and I have to ask which train to take all the time, or else I would end up in the wrong place too!

Hi TEAM!!! I am so happy to report that I had a GREAT 10 mile run this morning. A little soreness in my ankle and my IT band, but not enough pain to effect my running. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: It was COLD when I started at 7:30--25 degrees with 10-15 mph winds, but running in the light snow was so neat and watching the neighborhood wake up was pretty cool. The only bad part of the run was I was almost hit by a car around 2.5 miles. The guy rolled through a stop sign and into the intersection that I was in the middle of. I jumped away and he slammed on his breaks, but I was still inches away from getting drilled. That certainly got the heart rate going!! I don't have my splits as my Garmin is out of whack, but I finished in 1:54 with I think an 11:17 pace, I also had a negative 5 mile split which made me happy!!

Dave and Christa--I can vouch for you guys, it was COLD this morning. I thought it was spring. :confused3 Nice job getting the runs in despite the cold temps.

Martha--So sorry about your day! It seems like everything went wrong for you. I have to admit, I did laugh when you said you downloaded 82 songs into Craig's iPod.

Kristi--So sorry about Molly! But it sounds like you had a great time in NYC anyway.

Sorry this is so short but I want to watch the marathon race re-cap, I got it in the mail yesterday, but I haven't watched it yet. Can you believe that Stephen watched it without me while I was at work yesterday. I was not pleased.

Happy Easter everyone!!!

Krista - Great job on your 10 miler!

You didn't fuss at the poor guy did ya? ;) :rolleyes1

I just watched the race recap DVD (disappointing by the way, not nearly as good as last year's) and I saw Terri!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :yay: It's during the full marathon section at the start line. I noticed the WISH shirt and had to back up and watch that part frame by frame and there she was. We have a celebrity amoung us!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Vic--You know I did!! I can fuss with the best of them! ;)
